My dad did the same thing. I had plenty of opportunity to say something but i just never believed he would actually do anything. I was wrong and i miss him so much.
You're the best, please don't delete it; I love "families in crisis". Although I can't relate to the story, I know that so many young people face the demons Dale encountered. R.I.P. Dale King
@@SCnative64 From the bottom of my heart I'm truly sorry about your brother. I pray God continues to heal your 💓 and keeps giving you the strength to move on. If you ever I mean ever need me to talk I'm here.
@@SCnative64 hello Daryl my name is Roget its a pleasure to meet you I'm from New Jersey i just wanted to say how I'm truly sorry for your loss and i remembered watching this story on HBO years ago and listening to your brothers story helped me understand how suicide can affect the people that know that person and how you should that person help right away.
Such a powerful series, I've now seen several episodes here (didn't have HBO when it aired there) and most of the time I find myself move to tears. This episode was no different again I was teary eyed, very well done.
I lost a childhood friend to suicide, it was just after high school graduation. I still remember my mom starting to cry after we got the phone call, my first thoughts were for another buddy who had cancer at the time, it was a relief to know she was still alive but hearing the other wasn't was like a stab in the heart. I still miss her and think of her often
I have been searching for this video for nearly 10 years. We watched it in health class in like the mid 2010 and I remember sitting there thinking "holy shit is that Wil Wheaton????". Every now and then I do some digging looking for some sort of proof that I wasn't crazy and I FINALLY FOUND IT!! THANK YOU!!!!
I lost my childhood friend to suicide last year & although I haven't seen her in years her death hurt me & hurt me worse when I had to tell my twin (who was also friends with her).
I remember watching this when i was little and going through middle school and hiding my depression as best as i could. I'm still dealing with it as an adult. i just remember crying as i watch the ending it really broke my heart so much. Thankyou for uploading this and r.i.p to Dale King.
Damn I found this by chance last night. It's been stuck in the back of my mind since I watched in health class like 14 years ago. I was in 7th grade. I know the name of it now!! Such a good but sad story. So true and happens all the time😔
I remember seeing this as a kid. Never knew I'd attempt suicide twice in my life and live to see this day. People truly don't understand the demons one has when their depression is extremely dangerous. I think the worst thing is no one knows how little it takes to push someone over the edge. Once he told Dale he didn't care anymore. That was enough for him to kill himself. Once someone gives up on you. Its truly the worst feeling ever.
I completely understand what you're saying. After so many years of heartache, and being used - I finally got this one thing: no one will ever love me like Jesus Christ.
Mental illness is no joke… If you start seeing the red flags on a friend or family member SPEAK UP tell as many people till you find the one who will actually listen and is willing to help 😢
How heartbreaking when Robert found out his friend, Dale took his own life at such a young age. I know there’s people who are not normal and they have issues and suffer from depression in their lives. Losing a friend or a friend you love is heartbreaking and just to know that your partner is always here.
@@SCnative64 It’s sad that this happened to you. Always pray for him, that he is in peace. Growing up people have always treated me unfairly, and other tragedies as well. It’s been a hard eighteen years. Sometimes I want to do it just so I can have peace forever. Too many hardships and pain. What’s so great about being here?
@sekoudiarra8750 I'm sorry I'm just seeing this now. I showed this to my, now Ex girlfriend 4 years ago and haven't looked again until now. How are you doing now? For me, and maybe for you, I feel like the little things are worth living for. Could be anything - art, crafts, music, writing. For me it's mountain biking, and other forms of biking. I feel so free doing it and just getting way out there sometimes.
The fact that he changed his mind too late...that's horrifying. Considering the method...his last thoughts. Man...I wish someone could have saved this kid...
The (very few) people who have survived jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge have said that between jumping off and hitting the water, they realized they didn’t actually want to die. What they really wanted was for the pain to stop. I’m so glad that we are, as a society, making it much more acceptable for people to express that they’re in distress, and that we are getting better at listening. (We just need to back this up with actual resources to get people the help they need…)
Sorry his friend was a jerk. He needed therapy but killing yourself is selfish act attempting to do it for attention is also selfish. Dale is obviously poor and being friends with a rich kid who had everything was depressing.
Its sad that Robert blamed himself for Dale's death even though it was not his fault. Based on the movie, Robert made an effort to address concerns about Dale, but nobody was taking him seriously. While the loss of a friend due to suicide is painful on everyone, Robert shouldn't blame himself.
Back when HBO and cable were actually good and didn't cost a fortune
Hbo is 15 bucks a month dude😂😂
They showed this to us in our health class in high school. Stuck with me ever since, and that was over a decade ago.

HBO's Lifestories was the edgier version of ABC's Afterschool Specials.
