Between the name, included visuals, and the way it uses energetic high notes to give off a serious tone I'm envisioning this as a rival theme. Like someone you have 2-3 fights against before they join your party, and the whole time they have this "I'm going to compliment you for surpassing my expectations, but be smug af about it" type vibe. Though with this being against the captain, there is some potential of this being the song for a tutorial battle as well, which could set the tone for a rather nonserious game that takes itself very seriously.
You would make some badass D&D sessions, or games. If you ever do something like that pls let me know. You seem to have a good mind to easily build lore.
@BloodBathFenix actually I do run D&D campaigns! I have a video about one of the things that happened in my campaigns on my channel, but I plan to make more.
it could definitely be that. when I walked into the 1hc, my plan was always to try and write a classic JRPG-style battle theme. when I saw this as the image prompt, it really threw me for a loop at first. balancing seriousness with playfulness was a real challenge, but from the sounds of it, I walked that line just right, which is reassuring.
There were very few SNES tracks that had long loops. Those that exist are surprising to me, and the first ones that come to mind are from Top Gear. The loop for the Las Vegas theme is around 3 minutes in length.
memory limitations were a beast. a lot of later SNES JRPGs-I'm thinking the late Squaresoft JRPG soundtracks, like Final Fantasy VI, Seiken Densetsu 3, or Treasure of the Rudras-were able to get longer loop lengths. for this track I made efforts to take it for as long as I could, which ended up being a roughly 1:16 loop.
I was searching for NES Metriod Ending Theme Brawl/Orchestra version and this shows up on the list YT's search engine can be weird some times :) Sounds great.
Excellent work! As others have already said, the balance of playfulness and seriousness makes it sound like a fight against a recurring rival character who eventually joins the party. Love the vibe.
well done! if someone would have told me this was from a game back in the day we never got to play because it was region locked in Japan i would totally believe it. the art is lovely too!
the bassline from 0:03-0:05, which comes back to transition into the loop 1:10-1:22, actually opens the battle themes of FFI-VI, and Uematsu later built most of the battle theme for IX off of it! a deliberate reference. you're probably right about the FFVI battle theme being an influence on the trumpet melody, though.
I have actually written music for one game in development, tho' the music style is completely different. tfairchildmusic.bandcamp.com/album/dragon-rails-beta-soundtrack I'd love to write music for more in the future!
That 1st part got me flashing back to Top Gear Music - Soundtrack 1 from the SNES. You delivered. This one btw. ruclips.net/video/LhZHntVt6cI/видео.html
"That was the day i met her, Son. She had this wild look in Her eyes, like She could face the World and win."

That sounds like a pretty good campaign to build from.👍

@@t.fairchild9930 I would say so, yeah. Certainly made it fun to listen to and design a scenario around in my head because of that exturing.
Papyrus: Finally, a worthy opponent! Our date will be legendary!
First battle against your childhood friend who is now the captain of the spellswords. She defeats you and tells you that you need to become stronger.
I like how this is SNES inspired but it doesn't loop after 45 seconds

@@t.fairchild9930 I appreciate your knowledge. Understanding the context of previous limitation so you can surpass it is a sign of a great artist.
Nice work. Gives the vibes of a fun battle with a character you'll later recruit.
Great. I would absolutely love to hear this as part of a retro RPG or even a modern one with the right style.
I can't, unfortunately, make either of those happen-but I am going to be arranging it for more modern instruments in a "band"-type of setup.
The theme is very good but the portrait of the Captain is awesome !!!

YT's search engine can be weird some times :)
Sounds great.
glad it brought you my way and that you gave it a chance, even though it's very far from what you were looking for. :)
You know it's gonna be nice as soon as it starts
this boss was a real skill test
I feel like this would be part of the recruitment by combat process for someone like Yuffie if she were a bratty samurai instead of a bratty ninja.
Or a bratty Landsknecht.
Excellent work! As others have already said, the balance of playfulness and seriousness makes it sound like a fight against a recurring rival character who eventually joins the party. Love the vibe.
I need a game with this music
if I ever get the opportunity, I'd love to score a game in this faux-SNES style.
Smashed the 497th Like on this musical masterpiece. I learned about it through the recommended videos feed! 📈🎵

What a fantastic track! This is so cool. Gives me goosebumps.
Great, Terry! 😁😁 I like how you did the visuals too!
You got a lot of views with this one! Praise be to the algorithm!
the most watched and commented upon piece I've ever posted. I'm humbled by it.
The algorithm recommended me this.
oh this is lovely! :D
0:06 This first part reminds me of one of the FFVI battle themes. The horn SFX is the same.

i adore this, the vibes are immaculate
I dig this, sounds like something I would hear in the Romancing SaGa games.
Great music work bro !
Cool battle theme!
Very good music :3
I hope Captain is romanceable.
nicee
Yo this music firee 🔥🔥🔥🔥💀💀
A very "Ys" kind of feel
Have you ever thought about making music for an indie game?
I have actually written music for one game in development, tho' the music style is completely different. tfairchildmusic.bandcamp.com/album/dragon-rails-beta-soundtrack I'd love to write music for more in the future!
Any chance we'll get to hear this on a music app a-la Spotify or Apple Music anytime soon?
unfortunately not at this stage. who knows what the future may hold, though?
...I should play the sapphic JRPGs I already have before I start dreaming up ideas about lesbian flirt battles.
Give reccs please!!!
And then Captain goes berserk and smites your sorry hide for suggesting she's that kind of pervert.
That 1st part got me flashing back to Top Gear Music - Soundtrack 1 from the SNES. You delivered.

I love this, it's so good.
