I don’t really agree with the lack of story or especially mysteries. Like, the entire crafting system is part of it. Discovering crafting recipes in books is super important. And of course there’s the several layers of mystery you discover about the histories of Hush House, and its inhabitants. Figuring out the bust puzzle through the flavor text of different objects, rooms, and so on was really neat. Plus of course those bits of text tell you how to progress to the ending.
There’s a lot of games I would be annoyed about having to delve that deep into flavor text about but the fact that this is a game about being a librarian uncovering secrets and bits of the past makes it fit really well.

Regarding the part about "not knowing what to do and feeling lost", that is a very INTENTIONAL part of the design, and it is in fact, far friendlier than its predecessor. The theme of the games is about figuring things out as you go, learning the world, how things work, where things go and what to do. I ALSO did plenty of mistakes at first, but later began to get what does what why and where. But this is what Weather factory games do. Just throw you out there and let you learn. It's part of the whole occult mystery.

I've just filed for a refund on steam, I was really looking forward to the game but just being thrown in I spent a lot of time not knowing what to do. I've never quite played a game like it and I think they could have definitely used with some sort of proper introduction. i had really liked the concept of the game when i first saw it and i still sorta feel bad about it.

"Bland story". Someone didnt read any of the hundreds of books they must have catalogued. Kind of an embarrassing take for a game review...
Oh we read plenty of the books, it just wasn’t as enticing as we hoped. It’s okay if you disagree, but don’t need to cry too much about it.
Sounds like someone was butthurt the game didn't hold his hand. Stick to your easy AAA games and stay away from niche indies. You clearly never played Cultist Simulator.
