I love how it's a folk song that starts off with one guy playing kinda quietly playing guitar, but as the stories of Johnny get more and more exaggerated, more people join in and everything gets way louder and the chants of "He'll come, he'll come" get more frequent. Very neat way to break the established trope of Strive songs, rather than being in first person like every other character theme, this is an impersonal folk tale being told at a bar or something.
“It’s a mess but nobody thinks it’s a joke” is probably my favorite summarization of Johnny’s character Like yes, Johnny is fucking insane and he’s living this chuuni life being a cowboy and a samurai AND a pirate, and pledging his love and protection to all women of the earth… But absolutely NO ONE who’s met him thinks he’s kidding. "Hated by the god of failure" is such a cool line. I see a lot of people interpreting it as saying that the god of failure hates Johnny because they are trying to make Johnny fail and can't, but I read it a little differently than that. Think of it this way: If you are loved by the god of fortune, that's usually seen as a good thing because they have the capacity to bless you with good fortune. Conversely, if you were loved by the god of failure, it stands to reason that you would be "blessed' with a multitude of failures. But not this guy. Johnny is HATED by the god of failure. And so the god of failure refuses to give Johnny even a single solitary L. Which, being real, is the most Johnny thing that I can think of.

This song single handedly got me into Strive without knowing a single thing about it, and made Johnny one of my favorite characters of all time in the process
Unlike other strive songs, this song actually exists in the canon of guilty gear as a song Johnny wrote about himself and bribed multiple bars (with May's money) to play all the time
I like that "half the world is my love vow" verse because it shows that he actually does care about protecting women and isn't just doing it hoping they'll sleep with him. Like, he certainly wouldn't MIND spending time with a pretty girl, but that's something he pursues on his own time away from protecting them, and (if the fact he sees the jellyfish girls like family is any indication) sees platonic/familial relationships as being just as important as romance.

Other Guilty Gear themes: talk about a character's insecurities or traumatic events in their life, giving a larger meaning to the song itself and how the characters operate psychologically Johnny's theme: I'm the luckiest man alive
Honestly from what I've read from the lyrics. Well the more correct lyrics the theme kinda says the opposite about Johnny being the luckiest guy alive.
Johnny's theme is the biggest scream of *"WHO DA MAN PEOPLE!?"* i have ever heard, and i can physically hear every cell of my body say his name as an answer
Most of the other themes dive into backstory, introspection, and sometimes what the character is insecure about. I think Johnny’s theme might function as a normal theme song because he’s a mentally healthy individual who’s worked through a good amount of his issues already.
Almost every song has profound knowledge of the character, intense emotions of their past and of themselves; Johnny's theme just shows how inexorably crispy cool he is, always.
It's a good song to come back to man. I remember being blown away by Sin's theme when it came out, strive songs go hard when you get them in your head. Congrats on making it man
@@MystDawg Fr, the strive soundtrack got me through. I remember my 10 mile ruck Crawl and Mirror of the World were going through my head the whole time. And thank you very much!
My favourite theory about this song is that unlike other songs that's the characters singing about themselves this is a Folk Song by those who have been saved by Johnny and his crew. I love this idea because it makes the lyrics graciously praising him make it sound like a jolly group of people in the downtrodden areas singing about a hero that will come to save them in the grim times to come.
I like to believe that this song is a song in universe people have written about johnny and the fact that he is truly, absolutely, induspitably totally factually That Dude.
Johnny is the character with the simplest lore in Guilty Gear: He’s a badass, he knows it and he has somehow convinced an entire pirates crew, everyone else in the series, ArcSys and the entire fan base that he is a badass. (Even if he’s mid in Strive, I love him) On another note, don’t know if you would all agree, but I feel like Johnny would walk up to a random woman in a bar, say “hey beautiful, remember me?” He’s never met her
It just occurred to me that Johnny actively believing that all the women on Earth need happiness of his responsibility ties back to being Captain of the Jellyfish Pirates. He’s trying to give them a family and a fun adventure so that they aren’t suffering otherwise. I know Johnny is interested in women, but sometimes I wonder if really does just want to go get a drink with some of them, and just talk to make them happier. He asks a lot of the women he meets to join the Pirates too, with slight undertones of wanting a bit more fun, but it’s also good to note that Johnny does not actively think of any of the crew in that way. At all. He is literally a parent to them. That’s it.
If anything, I would go as far as to say that the Jellyfishes mean the world to him, so, in his world, he is making all girls and women feel safe and protected, because they are literally his family.
I can't believe I wasn't vibing with this song at first. Then I found it stuck in my head.... I've listened to this rock masterpiece at least 50 times in the last week.

When I first heard this song I knew nothing about this guy but it gave me the vibe of Johnny being “the cool guy except he’s actually earned it” and I’ve heard that that’s basically correct

Other Guilty Gear themes: talk about a character's insecurities or traumatic events in their life, giving a larger meaning to the song itself and how the characters operate psychologically
Johnny's theme: I'm the luckiest man alive
Honestly from what I've read from the lyrics. Well the more correct lyrics the theme kinda says the opposite about Johnny being the luckiest guy alive.
The first time I heard this song I was frantically looking for it.
Of course it’s Johnny’s theme.
you can only lose 100% of ur money if u lose but if u win in gambling u can get 300% of ur money
Remember, 99% of gamblers quit before they hit big
The god of failure HATES HIM!
See how this man became so cool with this ONE SIMPLE TRICK! 🎲
Johnny's theme is the biggest scream of *"WHO DA MAN PEOPLE!?"* i have ever heard, and i can physically hear every cell of my body say his name as an answer
He is Him. Its an undisputed fact.
Most of the other themes dive into backstory, introspection, and sometimes what the character is insecure about.
I think Johnny’s theme might function as a normal theme song because he’s a mentally healthy individual who’s worked through a good amount of his issues already.
"No one here is thinking that hard" Daisuke knows his player base lmao
All I know is that from this song, its just that Johnny is just that guy, and thats why he is my favorite.
He is soo cool they did not even dare to touch his design. Only character who did not change.

@@ruldeeefoon The kid named Johnny had long hair in acr:
Almost every song has profound knowledge of the character, intense emotions of their past and of themselves; Johnny's theme just shows how inexorably crispy cool he is, always.
Im graduating from basic training, and this was one of the first songs i heard when I got my phone back, i love it!
@@yukaroj Good job making it through, choom. You got rough times ahead of you, but always bring Johnny's charisma with you whenever trouble shows up.
@@mc_zittrer8793 Hell yeah!
It's really cool of Daisuke to put me in the game again.
my friend: man i wish i could get a better look at the tv

My favourite theory about this song is that unlike other songs that's the characters singing about themselves this is a Folk Song by those who have been saved by Johnny and his crew. I love this idea because it makes the lyrics graciously praising him make it sound like a jolly group of people in the downtrodden areas singing about a hero that will come to save them in the grim times to come.
God of failure and Goddess of fate: He can't keep getting away with this!
(Even if he’s mid in Strive, I love him)
On another note, don’t know if you would all agree, but I feel like Johnny would walk up to a random woman in a bar, say “hey beautiful, remember me?” He’s never met her
Matching the beats to the sword swings in that first like minute of the video is so cool
I was looking for the version with lyrics literally 30 seconds ago, thank you!
This song vibe tastes like Dante picking up Yamato and immediately losing all his money, _again..._
Dante and Johnny would be friends
4:41 THAT EDITING IS FUCKING AMAZING
This song feels about as cool as johnny does and fits him perfectly
idk if youre the one who edited the negative space J cut at the end, but if you edited that in thats nice as hell, good stuff
This is like a bar fight but you’re Johnny Guilty Gear.
WE MAKIN IT OUT OF DEBT WITH THIS ONE!
THIS IS GOING IN THE GYM PLAYLIST BOYS 💯💪🔥
WE INCLINE BENCH PRESSING TO THIS ONE 💯💯💪💪
The swagger of "just lean" into that sick southern rock riff is unmatched. It's so rad.
WE GRINDING MAY TO TEARS WITH THIS ONE 🔥🔥🔥
bro?
what?
SEEEEEEEEEEEEEGS AAAAHH SEEEEEEEEEEGS!!!
then i stab you 80 times

My favorite part of the character is that if you get a round win by wall breaking with one of his overdrives, you can see him smiling at the camera
Tldr, he's the coolest dad
going to gamble all of my money away listening to this one
"Johnny, men want to be him, women name their toys after him.”
I can't believe I wasn't vibing with this song at first. Then I found it stuck in my head.... I've listened to this rock masterpiece at least 50 times in the last week.
I love how every other song is always about the character on a profound level , but this one is just "Yeah Johnny is fucking cool and everyone loves him". I love that to be honest.
What a time to be alive alongside Naoki and Daisuke ♥️♠️♦️♣️
people say we live in the darkest timeline, but we live in the same timeline as daisuke ishiwatari
That final shot of just
*J*
thats so cool
That's his name
As a Johnny main i can say this with all my heart
WE LOVE GAMBLING :3
correct lyrics
Just lean It's anyone's call”
That is the word of the guy who was hated by the god of failure.
”Just lean”
When I first heard this song I knew nothing about this guy but it gave me the vibe of Johnny being “the cool guy except he’s actually earned it” and I’ve heard that that’s basically correct
まじカッコよすぎるよ
johnny looks like if albert wesker took theater class instead of being bullied for being a science nerd in high school.
0:55 damn, that transition was just sick!
"The outlaw.
no age can judge him.
Truth is always born in the mind.
If the thick book
had shown him the right path,
wouldn't have ripped it up."
Apparently these are the lyrics according to Naoki
