I'm continuing my bog witch blanket using mostly 2nd hand yarn. I don't get my winder and stuff out much because I've been trying to use up all my already caked up scraps and partials, if they aren't just misfit single skeins that is.

Went to Stevens point today to visit Herrchners for the first time. Walked out with a full bag of yarn. I plan to go back in October when they have their warehouse sale. :)

Do you mind providing the name of the yarn Holder that the yarn is winding from and I definitely will be buying the electric winder. I avoid buying hanks because I do could never figure out how to wind them 🤷🏾♀️

That is called a swift or umbrella swift. Which is nice and handy but you dont need one to deal with those hanks of yarn. (Get one though! Omg they are so useful!) You can use the bottom of a chair flipped upside down or anything creative like that.
You can use anything, but a swift is adjustable to the skein and makes life a lot easier

What is your winder/swift setup? Im thinking about upgrading and it looked like this machine does a great job.
I heard that you shouldn't ball up your yarn until just before you use it. It stretches the yarn...anyone else hear this ?
Yup! It’s best to hold off caking the yarn until you’re ready for that project🎃
