There is 50 videos on this topic, this one takes the cake! Perfect footage and straight to the point, Good job to Nate! This is exactly what I'm building on my 1000 gallon aquarium, But I have to get fancy with my emergency overflow as there is no room for the 3rd pipe, watch my video's to see this one. Keep making videos Nate!
Yoooo!....hahaha, that is super cool how you have the overflow holes go from your tank to the box without a gasket or bulkhead. Very innovative. And I like the innovative style animal bean siphon's. Gratitude for sharing this idea with the RUclips aquarium community! Aloha from MauiWaui! :)
Are there building instructions for this setup? I think its a nice setup because it take up space inside the aquarium. I'm looking to build one for my planted 40 gallon breeder tank.
Alright mate I'm getting a 8x2x3 foot tank in the new year looking at running overflow or doing a weir what size pipe will I need to run between 3000 and 5000 letters per hour
is the main siphon 1 inch from the bottom of the box? if so how many inches is the durso or center siphon ... just wondering getting ready to do a setup like this
@@JCrowe86 Actually, yes. I do not have the emergency shut off valves, but this system is what I ended up going with and it works perfectly without. I wanted the shut off cables, but my Ltd and hubby said it was overkill. I got overruled. Still wish they'd have gone with them. But oh. Well. No issues so far. *knock on wood that it stays that way.
@@nataliemuncy2574 Justin above was right, you need these valves to perfectly dial it in so it's absolutely silent...which is the whole point. Yes water will drain, why wouldn't it, but to make it silent it needs to be dialed in....using said valves.
Never seen a Bean Animal with the Durston (secondary) set up to full siphon when the main clogs. Looks to work OK. As long as the stand pipe can flow the full flow you're OK anyways. Most people want to hear when the Durston is being utilized so they can trouble shoot the main drain and just hove a vent hole on top.
@David Gray I highly recommend the B.A style overflows by ‘Modular Marine’. They’re reasonably priced and quality acrylic fab. They also include everything you need including diamond hole saws, drilling template etc. Cheers
@@Val_Halla777 I have since been using this setup and it works awesome. Very quiet and self adjusts to small changes in flow using the secondary Durston, which you can eliminate flow through, by adjusting the gate valve on the full siphon. I'm using an Exotic Marine Systems overflow ruclips.net/video/RJQMSmFjc-Y/видео.html and it works great, the weir and overflow are totally silent and the large long slots don't clog. My only issue was snails going over the falls and into my sump. I have added a primary screen of perforated PVC with 3/8" holes to keep critters out. It has turned out to be a so far, perfect system for my tank. I actually built it into the background of the tank using pond foam and paint. I left no straight line edges and it has a 3 dimensional surface just like the rest of the background and is all but invisible.

Excellent demo. It’ll help me a lot on my future tank.
So the holes in the glass that are going directly do the tank....how do you prevent your fish from accidentally getting sucked into the overflow box?
Thank you for sharing this excellent clear video
What dictates the aquarium water level? Is it the hole going to overflow or the weir?

How did you make your slits in the pvc's
What are the dimensions of the box?
Is you pipe 1 1/2 or 1 1/4?
Is the box out of glass
I got the small eshop, would the bean style work best?
Top !! 👏👏 I did something similar and filmed watching your video 🖒🖒🖒💪
What size are the pipes?

I think it’s 1-1/2 inch for 3 pipe
Will this work as well if you don't have flow control valves installed?
No

System Thurso!
That emergency drain is not 2500gph

Are there any plans with dimensions available somewhere for this setup please? Especially the height and size of the drilled holes and the box.
