A bit late to the party on this one, but regarding magazine content, etc, the rise of social media and the displacement of the computer by phones and tablets is another reason to shoot vertical. Witness the rise of RUclips Shorts and TikTok.

Good stuff! I also find that the aspect ratio of a picture has a profound impact on the feeling it imparts. I find 4:5 to be much calmer than 3:2.
Thanks, Aram. I agree with you about the 4:5 being "calmer". In fact, I shoot with both Nikon and Fuji GFX medium format, so I shoot 3:2 and 4:5.
You kinda have to know your audience; vertical works great in print, but not as well on youtube, tv or computer screens
