    I really enjoyed this one. That's an impressive friction fit you have with the PVC to stay together even when you get a cloud burst that overfills the collection screen.

    • @ScarletFlames1
      @ScarletFlames1 2 года назад

      The coanda screen isn't tall enough to build pressure, and any water that can't come in doesn't press on the water that's already inside so backpressure isn't an issue either. It's almost the same as just having a tank of standing water at the same size.

    Hi Seth,
    Why is this white 3" pipe didnt go all the way to the screen-intake on the left?
    The black pipe between intake and 3" pipe is thinner than 3".

    Very nice for when you have more water. I guess it's a good compliment to solar because you get more rain during cloudy seasons.
    Ideally you'd still have the full head pressure of a full feed pipe and turn off some of the nozzles to keep the water at that level. That would give you the maximum energy from each unit of water.
    Edit: What do you do for hot water? If it's gas, you could dump any excess energy into a tank before your gas heater to decrease that consumption. Otherwise Marty T has shown how you can get dual heating elements with DC and AC for a regular electric boiler. Once your batteries are fully charged you could run your solar into your hot water.

    Can you run the ram pumps straight out of the bottom of a lake? The water is about 8' deep at the dam, would that be too much pressure?

    if you make the overflower pipe reach the bottom of the barrel it will suck out the silt when you get high flow rate. Also do one way pressure valves that are rated at different PSI exist so you dont have to manually regulate the nozzles? say 20 psi for the first nozzle (minimum psi), 40 for the second nozzle etc.

  • @stupidmonkeykev
    @stupidmonkeykev 2 года назад

    Surely the whole point of the screened intake is to be able to go straight to the turbine. Bit more head, and more cleaning-flow for the screen. you'll need a larger bore pipe at the start with an air outlet to above the height of the intake, but it will clean itself much better with the excess over the front rather than overflowing at the barrel.

    • @ChrisWijtmans
      @ChrisWijtmans 2 года назад

      the barrel keeps air out of the system and silt that can abraze and corrode the system.

    My friend, why not build a concrete water impounding in the creek line upstream so that you can harvest almost all of the water and thus you can optimize kinetic energy? Then you connect all your PVC pipes and use gravity to water your house, and surroundings plus you can now energize your ramp pump and mini hydro electric generator with greater pressure. Just my two cents idea..

    I like what you did with the barrel for silt management. If you add a second barrel one for the filtration then flows into the second and it out flows from the bottom instead of mid would that add to your pressure head?

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  2 года назад

      Because head pressure is based on the vertical column of water not the horizontal diameter of the tank the pressure would actually be the same as if pulling from the midpoint of this one barrel.

    How do you real with the air in you stand pipe after you work on the intake area because you should of shut off that valve at the turbine first to keep the stand pipe full. Or did miss something. I can guarantee you if I had a place like you have I be out there playing in the water.

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  2 года назад

      The water does sink down the hill and air follows when I do maintenance. But because the nozzle restricts the flow the pipe refills with water quickly.

    • @joemc111
      @joemc111 2 года назад

      @@LandtoHouse yea some of the other videos I have watched in the past show places where the pipe has to run up hill so air gets trapped. It would be hard to say your flexible pipe runs downhill without any places to trap a little air. More videos please.

  • @iamgriff

    would moving the silt/air containment barrel further down the line help regulate batter line pressure? Or could you even install a expansion tank to help maintain a consistent line pressure?

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  2 года назад +1

      Having the barrel up close to the source allows the pressure to be the highest when there is enough water. Not sure an expansion tank would do much.
