I’ve hatched over 100 baby bearded dragons when I was 13 -14 with a styrofoam cooler. I laid bricks in the bottom put alittle warm water in and taped a heat pad to the top of the press on lid and it held temp very well . Simply placed the containers with the eggs on the bricks and every now and then I’d put warm water back in the bottom so it didn’t dry out💯hope this helps
My diy is similar but the bottom of the cooler is filled with water for the humidity and have fish tank heater for the temp this way you can incubate the eggs with any substrate similar to sim containers. So the incubator is basically a sim container that holds its set temperature and humidity. I have a video on it but will probably do a better video soon. It definitely helps save money on hatching medium and works like a charm I’ve incubated numerous monitor clutches and few python clutches with ease and 99% hatch rate. I’d say 100% but one egg was never fertile in one clutch or every egg I put in there would’ve hatched 🤷♂️ just one egg so far 🤦♂️. I’ve even had power go out and the incubator held its temps for over a day because of all the water at the bottom. But I’m also working on a larger incubator at the moment from a used wine cooler so I’ll let you know when I finish that bad boy. I wish you the best and hope you have a great day and enjoy your weekend bud 🙋♂️✌️
That’s awesome man! I would do the water bottle trick but I currently have a back up generator so I feel safe with out it! You have a wonderful day too man!
I did it with a heat pad but it didn’t work out all the eggs went bad except one out of 24 eggs , she’s gonna be laying again with in the next few days I want to do it again but the temp was around 85-87 the whole time but they all went bad.
no i dont I have near the lower part of the container where the eggs are. If I had it directly on the tape I believe i would get surface temp and not true ambient temps like im aiming for.

@@mightymorphingreptiles What's the water bottle trick? Can you provide information on maintaining humidity?
Extremely underrated
Could you tell me where and how to add water when it is dried? Thanks.

Great info bro! I’m gonna set up a temporary incubator today for some chameleon eggs I got last night!
That’s awesome man! What kind of chameleon eggs did you get?

Very cool and basic. But…you don’t tape the probe to the heat tape?

Can your use it to incubate a tortoise egg
I’ll be doing this.
Awesome! Great info like always
Thanks man!
Is it okay if I use heat pads?
Can you use a heat mat instead of heat tape?
I haven't used one myself as long as you got a decent thermostat then go for it. I personally like heat tape better
