@Court Jester Yes! I can't speak for OP, but I remember hating DS1 so much I dropped it for 8 months on my first playthrough. Again, the guilt got to me and I said "it's just a fucking game, it can't be that bad." Went back to it and beat it in a week. That was about 3 years ago. Now I have played every single DS game hundreds of times and it's my favorite game series of all time. The most eye-opening moment for me was the realization that those games aren't made to break you, but for you to overcome. They aren't impossible challenges, but they don't hold your hand either. You just gotta keep at it, and never lose hope.
I think between the first three bosses, it kind of depends on the person who is the hardest. I had less issues with Blood Starved Beast and Gascoigne than I did Cleric Beast.
@@Saint.Cosmos Yeah I agree I think they both perform skill checks differently. Father Gasoline is to check your parrying and cleric beast your item use and dodging. BSB is a ramp up in difficulty compared to them both so it’s somewhat of a final skill check so you’ll really get a good idea of the speed you should be expecting from the rest of the game. So depending on what you’re bad at you’ll have more or less trouble depending on the boss
That's how I beat Orphan, he beat my ass multiple times, I asked for help, the guy who ran in got stomped (forgot if he landed like 3 weak hits or if he died instantly), then I pretty much went "well fuck, this run is over" and beat him that run. Maybe it drained the anxiety out of my body for a bit cuz I thought I was f'd (Cuz I knew the health thing) or whatever, idk, but I don't think I was too worried about the boss cuz I knew I had a lot of insight left, either way, was pretty hype. I remember going into the final boss of dark souls 3 base game (haven't gotten the dlc yet after years, I've beaten 2 souls-like since then (nioh and the surge) even, was expecting to just check it out not expecting much, and bam, pretty high energy but easy time of it.

Let your gf know that my first playthrough with bloodborne was exactly the same! I ended up just recently replaying it and getting platinum. She's got this!
@anor27 What I learnt was: Perseverance. Patience and acceptance towards my failures. No beating myself up. Wiki info without hesitation. Embrace a bit of grinding when current boss is ridiculously hard (grinding to ease difficulty is like food spiciness- you adjust it according to personal taste). Test out new weapons and find your favorites; it's beneficial to have more than one style of attack. When the worlds open up, try visiting a few to find what places are most managible for you. Sorry this info came so late.
To be fair, a person playing Bloodborne as one of their first video game titles is going to trigger animal instincts. To her it feels like a truly hostile environment. It's probably more hostile than real life. It's like a window into hell. I remember struggling with Super Mario 1 on the NES back when I was a kid. That was my first game. I remember I struggled with the controls in the beginning. It was a d-pad and 2 buttons. Bloodborne is like 10 to the 20 more intricate and complex than that. It's amazing she's doing this well so fast!
That was almost the same experience as making my older brother play this game, besides him being WAY more into videogames at all. He struggled pretty much with the first hours of the game, he really disliked Dark Souls 1, but Bloodborne interested him a bit more. It wasn't on the Cleric Beast, but after some hours he started to learn how to make the combat easier, and, if i remember well in the path to the Hemwick area, he said "now i'm starting to understand why people like this, it isn't insanely hard, i'm learning now". That was extremely satisfying for me, as the Souls Series is probably my favorite media of all time. Now he has already beaten Ds3, and the last time we talked about Souls he was stucked half-way through Ds2. Now i'm just hoping he doesn't find my comment here, i have send this video to him. q-p
The best Hunters/Undeads aren't those who have the best skill. They are those who are shoved, beaten, killed dozens of times, and yet still... They stand back up and endure until their victory. Mighty props to her!
@@IskandarTheWack That is a good point, but I think I need to clarify myself. What I mean is that when someone first starts playing the Soulsbourne games, there are those who die twice to Ornstein and Smough, and there are those who die a couple dozen times to the Asylum Demon. There are those who ragequit when they die a few times and try again a few weeks later, and there are those who keep on trudging forward no matter how much they failed. Sure, the former might be a more skilled player, might finish the game in one hour, and be the l33t k1ng 0f pvp, but to be honest, the later player deserves more admiration. The theme of the Soulsbourne games (more of the Souls, honestly) is not about being a naturally skilled player. It's about persistence, never giving up. The ideal traits of the Chosen Undead aren't necessarily present in the first example of a player, but they 100% sure are there in the second one. (and I'm not sure what playing back in the PS3 has anything to do with anything, but oh well... I won't be annoying about that xD)
@@IskandarTheWack Yeah, I know that, but I don't see why the skilled players are the ones who played in the PS3. I mean, I guess that was just an example, but anyway
I hated Dark Souls until Bloodborne (which is now my favorite game of all time) so yeah. I now love the Souls series. I always teach friends new to the game to get good at dodging but don't forget to use the shield when needed.
I played Bloodborne first (one of my fav. games of all time) and then gave dark souls 2 and 3 a try. I also enjoyed these, but damn do I prefer the gun. I just can't parry with the shild no matter what I do XD
This is hilarious! My boyfriend made me play Bloodborne as well, and that was the game that turned me into a gamer. It was so infuriating dying and having to start all over again. Needless to say I spent countless hours in the beginning area, farming blood echoes and vials. Fast forward 300 hours and I got platinum, on top of that every other game has been childish easy compared to the pain and suffering I went through in Bloodborne. So pumped for Elden Ring !
Having my girlfriend play Bloodbourne was one of the funniest experiences of my life. She almost quit at Old Yharnam were the werewolf bursts from the door in a jumpscare. I've never heard anyone scream like that before, I'm sure the neighbors thought she was being murdered. It's been about 2 years and she still holds that against me.
Your first time with Bloodborne is so good you look for ways to relive it so you make others play it in front of you for the first time. Its a feeling that cannot be put into words.
@@arch92 Well here is to hoping we get that 1st time again if ee get Bloodborne 2 in which I really hope so. The number of people who start Bloodborne and don’t immediately realize the liability of strong and transformered attacks is staggering to me. Love these videos.
I feel like she might like Sekiro. It has a sneak mechanic, jumping, a much for straight forward story and progression when it comes to stats, no real gear or weapons to worry about, and it over all is a much more streamlined experience. I personally prefer all the numbers and whatnot from Dark Souls and Bloodborne, but Sekiro is maybe a better starting game. As a side note, it is true that Bloodborne has the worst healing system in any the Soulsborne game, it combines the worst aspects of Demon's Souls and Dark Souls into one really annoying and shitty system. Running out of blood vials does force you to grind if you don't want to lose your fighting chance because you can no longer heal up, but you can't stock up on them in excess if you do choose to grind because they cap at 20. To make things worse you can't buy them early on without wasting your blood echoes because you need to save though for leveling up and upgrading your weapons.
Actually you can stock up on excess. Any excess blood vials, quicksilver bullets, or other items over the maximum get sent to the storage and are replenished when you die or go to the Hunter's Dream.
@@joshuaseagondollar2495 I know that. But unlike Demon's Souls you can only hold a max of 20 vials. Sure you could be OP if you could hold over 20 vials, but the problem is the health system in Bloodborne is fundamentally broken and basically designed to be annoying. It should have been like Dark Souls which already perfected the healing system, where you have a set number of healing items every time you die and they always come back.
@@RegalPixelKing You actually can inrease the cap on blood vials and quicksilver bullets. I think it requires runes or some kind of weapon upgrade though. I get your point though.

Amazing. I found myself rooting heavily for her and as happy for her(defeating the cleric beast) as I was, my first, blind, soulsbourne victory. Excellent mate, and congrats to both of you!
Bloodborne is legitimately terrifying. There's a real sense of unease that develops as you play. It's very uncomfortable. But still a bloody great game.
@@seinfeldx You really don’t need to kill BSB and you can kill it later. A serrated weapon with fire buff works very well. You are actually punished for killing BSB, the game adds tougher enemies, the sack guys, and you will get kidnapped by the first one to another optional area which is a part of Yahargul before you reach it in the main storyline. Actually, you don’t need to go to old city at all except maybe to pick up Hunter’s torch and some upgrade materials and charred hunter set. You can do all of that without killing a single beast, then escape back.
This video was AWESOME 👏👏, the narration, the editing and our heroine was on point! Seeing her evolve - learning the tricks, mechanics and becoming more aggressive - was super nice and when she said she wanted to play more at the end i couldn't believe.
Honestly learning to run past enemies and on a more technical level figuring out enemy leashing is actually one of the biggest things you can learn in souls games. Killing all enemies is really only done for three things: unhindered thorough exploration, checking to see what goodies you can get, and farming. If you're just trying to progress and you're there's an area of relative safety beyond some enemies, there's little reason to not run right past them. I had some friends who were both very familiar with games give up on Bloodborne after not being able to get through Central Yharnam. I also love the troll is both literal and figurative, as he has back turned and is fixed when you approach him, but if you ignore him and continue past only then will he roam and wander into you after you convinced yourself he wasn't an active threat.
Yeah, but i find it extremely satisfying to kill every enemy. Just walking through bloodborne with every enemy dead is one of the most eerie things. Plus, you quickly build up resources. Chances are, if you’re semi good, you’ll always get your stuff back. Unlike dark souls, this game encourages that type of thing. Plus, if you get lucky, you’ll get blood stone shards or twin shards from hard enemies. It really rewards killing large amounts of enemies.
@@noop9k I would partially agree with that. You don't have to have completely conquered an area to run through parts of it. What I'm specifically referring to is the tendency by a lot of first time players that I've seen to try to kill every enemy in any area before being able to move on, when really you can run through different sections of an area to get to where you left off when you died. Running around without any experience in an area will likely not end well though.
@@glitchydoll Please, for a noob it takes many tries to remember even a single ambush. If you just run you will run into strong enemies and will be ambushed. Enemies in BB are not as relentless at chasing you as most DS1 enemies but still deadly enough if you don’t expect them. *MAYBE* nightmare of mensis? Seriously??
Breaks me heart to see someone break against Bloodborne. Truly missing out on one of the single finest gaming experiences of the generation. Fair play to her for slaying The Cleric Beast. I really, REALLY hope she tries it again. There's so much beauty and mystery she'd probably love.
Am so happy for you guys! First, well more like my 4th playthrough in bloodborne i gave up when i had to fight the cleric beast. For 2 years it was sitting idly. Then i decided to give it another go. every mastery of a section gave me confidence and bloodlust. Hardest boss in the game turned out to be was self defeat. Quite nostalgic feeling watching the cries of utter victory in dire situations
i just wanted to say i was grinding my mining skill at the Al Kharid area in Runescape while this played in the background, and your choice of music really tripped me out.
i tried to divide and conquer, it worked once, every other time i ended up getting ganged up on anyways, then i tried just running past all of them, and it became my standard in that area, until i saw someone on YT do it so flawlessly i started to just slaughter all of them, parrying enemies and visceral them gives me so much satisfaction
The accent (I'm American), mixed with the reactions, and the gameplay really makes these videos for me. I'm obsessed. My very first game on ps4 was Bloodborne and I have never used a controller before. I actually felt emotional at the end. The hard won triumph. I was on the edge of my seat. (and my seven yr old, who recently saw be playing Bloodborne and wanted to make his own character, cheered loudly when she felled the beast)
29:50 I remember the same thing happening to me when I fought the cleric beast. I feel like the game is actually designed to make that moment so epic at this point. you run out of blood viles but the beast is so low. You dash in and trade blow for blow like a mighty gladiator ignoring all safety as your opponent finally falls and you are the last standing. you put your controller down and raise your arms in victory, the gesture controls kicking in making your character do a victory pose as well.
I’m so happy she finally got Cleric Beast! And with the boss having more health due to the summon too? That’s frickin awesome! I always forget I can summon Papa Guacamole. The best part of the soulbourne games is that rush of euphoria when you beat that hard as nails boss. The stress and frustration of all those deaths and enemies is completely worth it for when you do win because it feels like you've beaten the impossible
Looking forward to eventual couple let's play channel that this becomes. The sound quality was way better for both of you this time than the dark souls ones x
Your channel, extremely well edited and thought out videos, and your girlfriend are all criminally underrated. These videos deserve 10 times the views and I hope the algorithm does good things for you and this quality content can reach as many people as possible!
The most fascinating thing about these videos is seeing how much From assumes you know basic mechanics and concepts in games to play. Like any gamer will click on everything at first to obtain weapons and attempt to kill enemies
I didn't imagine this could be so much worse as it is than the Dark Souls video. In some ways I'd consider bloodborne a more difficult game. It took me awhile to realize that being aggressive in this game is much more rewarding. And also how to get up in their face and parry. Once I got that down I became much more comfortable. I also came from Dark Souls and haven't played Sekiro. So it took some adjusting. Honestly I missed that lever at the beginning to drop the ladder for awhile too. Maybe it's just watching someone struggle as I did or even worse than I did after having more knowledge myself. I don't spoil the areas or items for myself, but I also look very in depth with lots of research into the mechanics of new games so I really understand the core gameplay abilities. I love your analysis and feel like we have similar feelings watching this. I was laughing alongside you at parts too. I don't want to put people down who aren't as experienced at certain genres and types of games. In this case you proclaimed that she is inexperienced in both RPG and 3D games. Hopefully playing these will get her better acquainted with these core elements and allow her more gaming opportunities in the future. My first game that wasn't a sports or rhythm game was Ocarina of Time. So I was lucky to have gained a good base for these elements early on in my gaming experiences. I think between the first three bosses, it kind of depends on the person who is the hardest. I had less issues with Blood Starved Beast and Gascoigne than I did Cleric Beast.
Gazza is pretty lit
@@Saint.Cosmos Yeah I agree I think they both perform skill checks differently. Father Gasoline is to check your parrying and cleric beast your item use and dodging. BSB is a ramp up in difficulty compared to them both so it’s somewhat of a final skill check so you’ll really get a good idea of the speed you should be expecting from the rest of the game. So depending on what you’re bad at you’ll have more or less trouble depending on the boss
Gascoigne gave me more trouble than any boss in the rest of the game or Dark Souls I/II and by a lot.
Daddy Guacamole still wrecks my shit sometimes
The end scene genuinely made my palms sweat. Honestly how many people not interested in this game would go through what she did. What a hero.
What's really impressive is because she summoned Gas Can, she beat the Cleric Beast with 50% more health by herself!
@@IskandarTheWack may I recommend getting both dlc's for DS III? They're absolutely phenomenal
@@nefariousnektarios I mean I plan on it, I just want them to go down on price, cuz like 13 bucks for dlc when I'm a pc gamer, seems big, when i can get plenty of other stuff I want a lot for like 5, so jus tbeen waiting for the sale price to go down further than the 12-13 dollar price point for the season pass.
@@IskandarTheWack The dark souls DLC is more than worth the price. between AoA and TRC you get a solid extra 20 hours of content, easily the coolest and most challenging boss fights across the DS series, and some of the most interesting character interactions and lore bites in the series as well. They also do a really good job of finishing off the story of Dark Souls and go beyond just the cyclical "linking the fire"
@@_Reyne Heavily subjective, my backlog has like 300 games in it, including a lot of great ones. Judging a game based on artificial stuff like buck per hour is hardly relevant to me. I'm not hurting for stuff to play.
I love watching 'non-gamers' play my favorite games, especially soulsborne. Sometimes it baffles me so see them miss shortcuts or secrets that seem obvious to me but then i realize they're gaming history is slim or none. Love these videos.
I love her logical thinking regarding her characters physique lmao
i would have thought that after seeing how big the enemies were in DS1 that she would have realised her character being slightly smaller would have no impact on gameplay
She should play dragons dogma lol
Wait until she realize that fighting with no armor is better than using the "best" armor you can get...
Let your gf know that my first playthrough with bloodborne was exactly the same! I ended up just recently replaying it and getting platinum. She's got this!

@anor27 just saw this comment. Did you get it figured out? If not I can give you some tips.
@anor27 magic, just use a magic build and demon souls gets easy
@anor27 What I learnt was: Perseverance. Patience and acceptance towards my failures. No beating myself up. Wiki info without hesitation. Embrace a bit of grinding when current boss is ridiculously hard (grinding to ease difficulty is like food spiciness- you adjust it according to personal taste). Test out new weapons and find your favorites; it's beneficial to have more than one style of attack. When the worlds open up, try visiting a few to find what places are most managible for you.
Sorry this info came so late.

The messengers: why is she running I’m trying to help her I got a weapon she can have
Ironically with all her pacifism she actively fights the werewolfs on the bridge, even though you could easily ignore them and go to the cleric beast
You COULD, but why ignore blood echoes in front of you?
Do not make her fight Ornstein and Smough, you’ll lose her mate.
Actually genuinely impressed she got all that way with what, 3 hours of fromsoft experience to guide her through it? That's some willpower
Your girlfriend showed she got the spirit of a Great Hunter. She deserves the best burguer and milkshake of [insert fast food sponsor] premium menu.
Now i'm just hoping he doesn't find my comment here, i have send this video to him. q-p
*Montyzander has pinned this comment NAH I'M JUST JOSHIN WITH YA. Thanks a lot!

The best Hunters/Undeads aren't those who have the best skill. They are those who are shoved, beaten, killed dozens of times, and yet still... They stand back up and endure until their victory. Mighty props to her!
The skilled player beat the game in an hour cuz they already went through the shoved, beaten, etc stuff back on the ps3.
@@SirZelean Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1 were out before "now" past gen (ps4/xbox one), on the ps3
@@IskandarTheWack Yeah, I know that, but I don't see why the skilled players are the ones who played in the PS3. I mean, I guess that was just an example, but anyway
@@SirZelean The point is that people played the older games, and the oldest game in the series (and the 2nd) was on the ps3.

Bloodborne teaches you how to play Dark Souls. By not using a shield xD
I hated Dark Souls until Bloodborne (which is now my favorite game of all time) so yeah. I now love the Souls series. I always teach friends new to the game to get good at dodging but don't forget to use the shield when needed.
I dunno I played DS with a two hander so I never used a shield anyway
@@mrwoodchuck94 I played Dark Souls with a zweihander in one hand and a greatshield in the other hand.
I played Bloodborne first (one of my fav. games of all time) and then gave dark souls 2 and 3 a try. I also enjoyed these, but damn do I prefer the gun. I just can't parry with the shild no matter what I do XD
I played Dark Souls with a Bastard Sword and only occasionally busted out the heater.
Maaaaaaaan that was an epic way to defeat the Cleric Beast, reminded me of my initial Soulsborne experiences. Well deserved after so much struggle.
Souslike. Bloodborne is a soulslike.
@@SecretPesch I thought soulsborne means bloodborne and dark souls

@@HansOilaf I thought she was talking about her and her character haha!
If he can sit next to her for 10+ hours. Not saying anything to help her as a veteran.. I bet he had as much of a bad time as her.
You'd think that, you'd think that
the saying, be careful what you wish for because you just might get it never held more truth than now lol

Blood starved beast is optional too, and if avoided the game is easier
@@noop9k he is my most hated one even after getting the good armor gear against poison and lots of stats, but i am still at snake florest.
@@seinfeldx oh and BTW armor bonuses in Bloodborne are relatively light. Runes give more substantial protection.
Running only works after you know where to run. Running in random direction typically punishes you with loss of souls.
@@noop9k I mean, it’s bloodborne. The only areas you could possibly get lost in are the forest and MAAYBE nightmare of mensis.

The accent (I'm American), mixed with the reactions, and the gameplay really makes these videos for me. I'm obsessed. I'm an avid gamer, but feel her frustration so personally when it comes to Soulsborne games, as I love open-world RPGs. I hope to see more of these in the future! Even if they aren't this specific genre of games.
I'm getting secondhand pride from watching ur gf win! Buy her more nuggies
Kudos to her! Especially for attacking it a 2nd time, I'm honestly impressed!
There are three different reactions to the cleric beast scream,
"Yeah, no. I'm going home"
"Okay, gotta be careful"
And of course, "I'll be back, just gotta RIP AND TEAR!"
My very first game on ps4 was Bloodborne and I have never used a controller before. This video reminded me of a learning process that I had faced long ago, this felt very nostalgic for me. 24:51 is exact what happened to me in my first hour, my cane broke, so I restarted the whole game. The frustration that I have can't be described.
Thank you for this video, it was very nostalgic for me.

Dude! I watched the video without blinking an eye just to realize at the end that you only have 3k subscribers!!! I expected to see at least 400k man! Congrats on the amazing content and a happy birthday to this brave huntress!! That was some impressive slashing there at the end!
