      I said it outside of this comment, but I will put it here also;
I think I would prefer for this series to end and then go into Bio tech whenever it works, because the ideology is all about nature and tribalism, and the expansion is ultra high tech, I don’t know how that transition could be made to feel natural.
On top of that I would like to see the new ending added by each of the DLCs
That being said, I understand that it would be better for the channel to release content at the same time as it comes out. So I will just say that I’m happy with whatever you decide!
Someone had said that a new game where we start with the defendants of the 3 founder of the previous runs, making a city together could be reeeeally cool

I just want to say that I've been here for a very very long time Mr. Complete. Thanks for making this a great journey. I hope you're able to work things out, not for my sake as a fan, but for your own sake. I so sincerely hope that this is one of those times where as an adult you find new ways to tackle life's challenges and it's just a hurdle. You know? That soon you'll look back and this will just be another great thing you've achieved. That even if you have ongoing issues that you beat it by taking it seriously. That's all we can do as people. Whatever you do, as long as it's for you and what you need, then it is the right call.
You don't have to like or reply or any of that nonsense. I don't care about any of that. But I do hope you read this message and I hope that you understand that many of us feel this way because it's a genuine empathetic human response. Iso hali 💜

Bio Tech is coming with the ability to make children, so I think you should do a new game for it but set it 100 years in the future with starting colonialists descended from each of your previous rimworld series. So Cambia, The Steak House and the Cold Bog all bleed together into a new place, I'd set it some place more casual so you can really build a big twon without dealing with 99 panthers showing up.

For the panther quest, I'd say wait until the last minute before the quest expires and then see how many pawns are still on mental breaks; if half of the colony isn't in fighting shape, then you'll need to pass. However, if nearly everyone is ready to go, then panthers shouldn't be too difficult with guns and some creative kiting.
For the luciferium, I'm not sure if you have anyone in bad shape enough yet to risk it yet, especially since it will then start healing up the scars you've been so diligently granting them. You do have enough of a supply that you can be pretty sure of finding more before you run out, though, if it becomes necessary.
Regarding Biotech, it sounds like it provides a neat ramp up through the three colonies of the Archonexus quest. This first colony is barely edging into modernity, and starting a new colony is a good way to switch that up and allow a clean segue into a vanilla high-tech lifestyle with maybe some aspects of gene modding and childraising thrown in. The third colony can go all-in on the Biotech, going ultra high-tech and controlling mechanoids.
Thank you for coming to my TED Talk.

I wouldn't mind waiting on Biotech. I love this playthrough as it is, and also i would love to see a new one focused around Biotech, so the best way in my eyes would be to just give you the time to play through it as long as it takes. In the end, I'll watch whatever you'll decide to make and if you want to incorporate the DLC go for it ^^ The most important thing to all of us probably is that you keep your fun at doing all this hard work. Do what is necessary, do what you like and we'll probably get to watch some more lovely Rimworld episodes. Thanks for all of that Pete!

If the goal is archotech then there is a golden opportunity when you trade your settlement in.
After you give your settlement away, start a new game in Biotech, be sure to use the same seed, from this playthrough.
Then godmode your way to the same step in the archonexus quest, and set your colonists/items/relationships/etc to match the 5 colonists, 5 animals, 1 relic, and 7 items you chose to keep in this ideology playthrough.
You're allowed to change ideoligion when you sell the colony too, so that's a good enough thematic excuse to incorporate any new features you may want at the same time.

Wow, this episode was nuts! The way Pete handled a casual 3 waves of a total of 300 Raiders was insane! I love the Neuroquake ability, with it's drawbacks as a last resort ability, and the way Freya (definitely my favourite pawn after this episode) blinked in, wreaked havoc upon the raiders and hopped back out (AS A PACIFIST) was super fun to watch.
I adore the narrative way Pete set up the ideology and plays it out, looking forward to every new episode!

I'd like to see this series play out naturally, regardless of whether or not that includes the new expac. Running two series simultaneously is an option if you wish to get into the expac immediately, although it would lead to episodes for each series being more spaced out I assume. Since both are Rimworld content though, that's not a huge downside to your viewers. Honestly, having the contrast of alternating between The Cult of Jingx and a super high tech colony could end up being rather interesting.
I imagine I'll be watching regardless of what you do with the current series, though. Your skill in this game never ceases to amaze me; I learn a lot from watching you play. Congrats on your latest victories!

One idea is to increase the tech level with each new colony. This one is limited to tribal, the next one can be industrial, the last one can be spacer and include biotech. As pointed out by other people you won’t want to add bio tech too early after release as the new DLCs tend to go through a large amount of balance changes

I believe accepting the Empire quest for two pieces of Eltex gear would be ideal. However, I suggest putting it off as long as possible on the off-chance that another massive raid happens. If it does, you can accept the quest for 9 powerful reinforcements to throw at it and possibly even delay it long enough for the 91 panthers to arrive and kill the raid for you :p

I'd prefer if you'd go on with this save for a bit longer, waiting for the first bugs and balances to be solved with the Biotech.
Starting something new then, would also be my preferred way forward.

  • @lonebrot425
    @lonebrot425 2 года назад +3

In terms of getting Biotech into the current playthrough, it would be possible with a bit of behind the scenes tinkering.
When you go for a piece of the map it resets your game aside from a handful of colonists and items which retain their skills, relationships, condition etc. Thus it would be possible for you to start a new save file, and use console commands and some mods such as Prepare Carefully or Character Editor to recreate the Cult of Jingz to more or less the exact point it was when you left off (post-map acquisition). Since you basically start again from nothing anyway, it would not be a hard endeavor.
This would mean that you could fully integrate the systems of biotech (namely by re-including mechanoids) into the new save file without compromising the playthrough.
Whatever you choose to do, I'm sure you will make the right call Pete.

If you decide to go biotech with this series, after the first break would be the obvious place for it. On the other hand, you could save five characters using character editor, then import them into a fresh biotech run. Or break the series and start fresh. Any of these would be OK. For the archonexus colonies 2 and 3 go faster as you start with five good pawns, but at the current pace you'll be at it for another 5-6 months.

    • @caesarsalad77
      @caesarsalad77 2 года назад +2

I could see this as being a great compromise if you really wanted to introduce Biotech stuff into the Cult. When you go to reform for Colony number 2, introduce the new mechanics. But I would also be absolutely fine with putting off a Biotech run until the Cult series is actually over. Imagine starting a Biotech run with, say, an actual family unit. Mom, Dad, Uncle, Grandma, baby...that sort of thing...and establishing a true dynasty out in the wild.

What you could do is make note of all of your peoples stats abilities and gear then have them go on a “pilgrimage” and move settlements. Then you creat a new biotech save, re create your people with a mod, then have them start a new colony on the same seed as your current one but in a different location. As part of this, you have access to all the new biotech stuff, and can reactivate the mechinoids by explaining that one day they all woke up and became a menace again.

Luciferium is most useful for selling. 91 panthers is manageable and that eltex gear would be great for a full-on psycaster build.
I say make some backups and experiment to see if Biotech runs smoothly, adding before the cult reaches that kind of technology would make it pretty seamless.

as much as it would be awesome if after you took your first map and reset your colony you added biotech, that would be a hard 180 from Tribal playthrough to High Tech Mech's. It would drastically change the feel of the Cult of Jingz.

  • @cattrucker8257

Definitely think that a new series/colony for each expansion works best. Biotech absolutely sounds like a high-tech, Adeptus Mechanicus-esque friendly story option, which is basically the opposite of what we have in the Cold Bog series. To be honest, I think you could complete this series without rushing anything before Biotech is fully polished and its derpy sides fixed up after release. Then we'd have a perfect experience.

Archonexus is a bit of a time sink, as you'll have to rebuild your base and gather enough wealth another 2 times before completing this run. This will problematic if you want to jump into the next DLC quickly. Also judging by the patch notes it looks like it has some very advanced tech that I'm not sure fits in with the more tribal play through of this series.
As for the Panthers hold fire on that one and accept if you are being raided, otherwise it may get messy.

I think the archonexus waypoint is a good point to bring in biotech and still continue the story.
You can use mods to recreate your 5 pawns, use the same world seed and narratively, they are traveling to new unknown lands with new dangers such as mechs. Should be able to advance archonexus via dev commands.
Downside being your old colonists will never raid you and those sorts of interactions. Either way, it seems like a logical spot to insert it.

As I said before, take your time. And do definitely reduce your planned shedule. Having a too high target that you can not meet really just makes issues worse.
2:05 Kevin is trying to Romance Freya. Wasn't she already in a relationship?
7:10 That Squirrel did more physical damage then the entire Raid!
7:35 "The conduit through wich a Archotech Superintelligence influences the physical world." So, a Rimworld player? Or the Storyteller?
9:40 Normally I would be all for using it to add more fun, but the 3 ritual Scars are already such a pain to manage. Maybe after you turned down the amount of scarification?
16:10 I would not start any quests during Specs Coma. And I would probably expand that lockout time to the entire time the Neuroquake penalty lasts. The danger of breaks is just too high while those both are in effect.

To be honest I think you need to think through your setup before accepting mamhunters. They can still move through river. With base fully closed off (via bridges and walls on them if possible) you could use good old pekaboo tactic insted of taking brunt of the attack in the face. Panthers are fast and ferocius after all. I'd like to sent you my sympathies. I have mental issues myself. Please be aware that your content is helping me relieve stress alot. Hopefully that will bring you some comfort, after all you brighten my day and it is definately a feat for a human being, to positively influence others. Cheers brother, I will be here watching whenever you post anything ;)

I don't think incorporating biotechs into this playthrought would be lore friendly, I mean, it is a group of tribes people, would seems kinda weird. But if there's a good way to add that, I'm good with it. Maybe I just want another Rimworld serie after this one hehe
As always, thanks for the video, cheers !

I would like that playthrough to complete before starting a new one.
That being said, your current colony is evolving through technology slowly and I could see a magic console command trick to "transfer" your evolving colony into the biotech (that sounds pretty high tech in my mind and would be the logical next big step this colony takes).
Kinda merges the 2 ideas of keeping this playthrough going and starting a new one.

Hey man take all the time you need. Every video is a blessing.
Btw have you made up your mind on the end game? I had an idea about seeking out the crashed ship, raiding, pillaging and burning on the way. It would be something alot of people haven't seen yet :)

i think the best idea would be if you 'start over' when the dlc hits but you take 1-3 colonists from this series as the starting colonists
make some nice backstory of how the colonie was overrun or something like that
and then start with everything new
maybe even change their believes due to the fact, that whatever happend to them caused them to reconsider their believes

I agree on the consensus on not worrying about timing, and finishing this series as is. Add Biotech when you do a new series. However, as you do seem personally interested in Biotech and may have a desire to not wait that long to play it, if you find a way to make it work, go ahead and add Biotech in. I and am sure most if not all of us will stay along with you for the ride. At the very least, most of us commenters will. (:

I think the Luciferium would be awesome for the cult. Our beloved tree cult using this drug to enhance someone to their peak ability and eventually sacrificing them before they can go down the bad road of not having enough sounds like such a great cult thing to do. Maybe on a melee fighter? An honored defender of the trees in the cold bog.

I wish you all well Pete!!
Make sure to put yourself first and foremost. Mental stuff is always exhausting to wade through.
As for the Panter quest; i'd say take it as eltex gear is very valuable and Freya would benefit massively from it. (Or any other Psycaster)
I'm pretty sure it's been brought up before, but maybe play until you get your first map-part on this colony and after choosing everything to be carried over, implement the patch?
Since upgrading between versions was always flunky at best and impossible at worst i'd propose to mercilessly use the commands to spawn in everything chosen on the new map on the new version (under the same seed of course).
Maybe the 'mental' change in the tribe through seeing all that tech would also get them interested, maybe even feverent in the whole technology to come and slowly transition from plant supremacy to tech supremacy? Or to keep the plants as a sort of root and try to be the best high tech gardeners there is! :D
As far as i know, the vanilla expanded has also a few mods for the belief system and might be a nice addition after the tribe has obtained their first piece to get a bit more diversity into their belief.

    Next series
It’s possible to do a single-person mechanitor run, where one mad scientist type lives alone in a grand base surrounded by walking, semi-thinking machines. Making this possible was a design goal from day one, because exotic play paths are so fun to explore. However, we expect mechanitors to most often live more normally among other colonists, commanding mechanoids to work and fight alongside human allies. If you really want to scale up, it is possible to collect multiple mechlinks and turn several colonists into mechanitors, though this takes a long time.

For the panther quest: Do it. With the 9 support units and some planning around choke points this should be managable.
Regarding the future and the Biotech DLC: Maybe you can work towards the first step of archonexus quest, sell the colony and then re-start the game with the Biotech DLC + all saved pawns through "Prepare Carefully". This way the current series could continue until a proper cutoff point is reached and you can transition nicely to the new DLC while still keeping the key characters.

I have, perhaps, an unpopular opinion, but I am perfectly OK with drawing this colony to a close and starting a new one with Biotech. However, I would probably give Biotech a few months to sort out any bugs or difficulty adjustments (which then gives this colony a few more months as well). You could even develop a story of how this colony transitions into a new one, or something like that.
Ultimately, I'm just happy to watch you play Rimworld. If you love this colony, then by all means play on. I'll still be watching.

if your base is secured on all sides id say invite the panthers and just do whatever needs doin inside the walls, and lock the panthers out. Added bonus if you get a big raid, accept the quest, lock the doors then let the panthers do the work and wait it out til they leave or just bait small groups and take pot shots when their roaming around the walls

And please, do take care of yourself. nevermind we have to wait a bit more for the videos, as long as you do what's best for you.

The first piece of the map sounds like a good point to jump over to a new playthrough and seems like a big enough milestone to end things on, it's not the full on ending of the game but dropping down to 5 people would be sort of a soft reset anyway.

I'd love to see Biotech incorporated into the existing playthrough, and I think it wouldn't be all that difficult or jarring (theme-wise). With the Archonexus quest requiring new colonies it would create perfect points of transition to different stages that explore/focus on a different aspect of the new DLC.
I would keep the mechs disabled and skip that part of the new expansion, but with the 2nd colony you could focus on children and growing your colony more naturally :) and then once you move on to the third colony, you could dip your toes into bio engineering. It can even fit really well thematically. The 2nd colony could be a place that the colonists decided is safe enough to raise families. And then for the 3rd colony, maybe the ancient complex nearby, the one that would allow them to transcend, first teaches you the knowledge of bio-engineering as a prerequisite to transcendence.

I read a comment here that suggests you to relocate during the archonexus part and you said it yourself. That would be a good way to incorporate the new DLC and maybe even modernize the Cult? If they see what advantages technology can bring, maybe they'll start their journey so techolizing themselves? Btw. 91 panthers are scary, even though the rewards seem great.
    You take care.
