Great video, thanks for consolidating these ideas into one place. Transitioning from my job at a video production company into starting up lifestyle business and need to narrow down one the best space to focus first. Thumbs up!
Great video Miles, been trying to get my youtube channel and blog off the ground, but I like you are a hands on in the trenches guy whos been plumbing since I'm 18 years old. I need tech people to maintain my website while I create the how to videos and products to sell. 67 years old and still hustling!
Another good video. Thank you for summarizing. Very funny. I found myself testing around with these different models. I wrote a book, had a candle shop and now FBA and an online course. Looking forward to your next video.
Hahaha, I totally get it... Some of us are wired to always look for and get excited about the 'next big thing' when often, going deeper with what is working for us right now is the true 'next big thing'!
Hi Mike. First of your videos I've watched. Thumbed and subbed. Re #10, SaaS. Developing your own is an option. But lower barrier to entry...is white label SaaS. This is the angle I'm using. (Er, okay...will be using. "Real Soon Now".) There are a bunch of Internet Marketers who develop and host this...sell it (the "FE")...and upgrades (the OTO's). And I've often seen (and too often bought) "sell this as your own white labeled product" as an OTO. It might be 20 licences. Or 100. Or unlimited. And, with some restrictions, you can charge once, or monthly, or...
I don't anymore... But I am laying the groundwork for a membership program/mastermind group that will give a bit more access for me to help out in individuals' online businesses... But still a bit away from that and plan to keep the daily videos coming for the time being.
I want to turn my business into a membership and wondering the best way to go about it. Saw you are a Thrive Themes user. Me too. Love it. Shane and the crew do a great job. It would be good if you would do some videos on building a membership site through the Thrive Themes platform. Thanks for sharing your life and business building knowledge with us Miles. Gday.
I watch this gem of a video at the gym today! Thank you! My question is how often do you get inner nudges to take action on ideas related to your businesses?
Every 4.3 seconds! :D Lol. Honestly, part of why I meditate so much is because of how fast my ideas flow... Training myself to allow the thoughts to be and not feel like I have to take action on all of them (overwhelm) has been my key. This is also where our bigger vision helps... If an idea will help us get closer to our bigger vision, it gets accepted... If it won't and would be just a $$$ move... That idea is released!
Miles, great video man! I love that you're genuine - you're really trying to help. Could you please answer one question? I would appreciate it a lot. So I have started selling websites (after your marketing arbitrage video). After a month of knocking on doors and calling I finally got a client and I'm making a website for a them. After I will finish the website - I will have a dilemma - do I try to upsell social media marketing & digital marketing services to them or I just focus on building a website business until I master this particular trait, the process and everything that goes into the website business? While it feels tempting to up sell social media & digital marketing services, I will have to learn them which will take a lot of time and the quality of my work might go down. I see so many people doing smma now and yet have no idea how can they deliver quality marketing for companies and charge thousands for them if they have never done it before. Because while website you can outsource (it's more of a product), when you sell marketing services, you cannot really outsource it (you need to know it) so I'm very confused on this. Hope you get a chance to respond. Have been worrying about this for quite some time now so your advice would mean a lot to me. Thanks
Content services would be a more logical add on... If they have a website, great... That website needs 2 to 4 new blog posts per month on topics people are looking for to build the site's authority in the eyes of Google... And that local business would probably benefit more from Organic traffic on Google than social media. That said, you can create a monthly 'package' for $250 - $500 (or more if you think they have the budget for it) that can get some content on site some basic social media updates, etc. Honestly, help them accomplish their goals... More traffic and customers from Google? Is it a social friendly business? Keep their needs in mind and build a package that will be of the greatest service for them and present it in a way that helps them realize you really have their needs in mind. There is no exact 'step 2' it is more about finding what works for you and your clients and that can take some trial and error. Great to hear you landed a client and are taking action! Keep with it, try to stay focused on the positives and stay in gratitude... The path will continue to appear!!!
Thanks so much for the reply! I will try to keep 1 step at a time as you say and learn as I go. My main confusion was that some people told me to focus on selling 1 service first and building that business up (e.g. websites). They told me that if I focus on providing too many things (social media, email marketing, seo), I will not be good at any of them and it is going to be a case of general practitioner vs a brain surgeon where one can do anything decently but works a lot and does not make much as oppose to a brain surgeon who knows only 1 thing but does that very good. On the other hand, doing just websites it is indeed more like running a normal business while when you provide many services - it gives you the ability to become a specialist in the online marketing as a whole. Entrepreneuer vs Online Marketer if you will. Therefore, offering many services might not be the best business decision but it will allow me to learn valuable skills to become good in the particular industry. That's kind of my thought process. Is there anything I am missing?
Thanks for the videos. I just heard what you said about selling novels on kindle. A friend of mine wrote a trilogy of fantasy novels a couple of years ago. With this and the other business ideas you mention are you proposing to sell / market them using the funnels you give training on in your other videos?
Most do lend themselves to the funnel idea... But to go another step more granular. The funnel is all about building a targeted email list of prospects and customers. A good funnel will do that at break even costs on paid traffic... meaning you get to grow your email lists free. Now we use Kindle books as a way to reach a new audience... people searching on Amazon for our keywords but who don't know us yet... So it is more of an entrance point to my funnel than it is a profitability mechanism. For monetizing fiction books, however, there is a cool course I went through called the 'Kindling' course: www.milesbeckler.com/kindle He doesn't use funnels at all and simply structures the books in series in a way to maximize reach and sales all within Amazon. That said, building a funnel could still improve on that but sometimes it isn't necessary.
First off your videos are great Miles, thank you for making them. Would you recommend certain types of online business ideas over others based on someone's personality type? Eg. an introvert vs extrovert as an example. Thanks.
I prefer selling digitally downloadable products, either products I create or as an affiliate. The margins are much higher than with physical products/dropshipping. Really it is all about building a list of people, then you can do a little of several types of businesses... Sell anything to them once you have a relationship and understand what they want/need
Miles, always wondered why lately seems more people are using the $97, $27 etc cost. Is there a reason for this as opposed to just $99, $29 or something? Why not $93, or $23. Not a huge deal, just wondering... Thanks sir!
It was tested a while back by a few internet marketers and it simply converted better ending in a 7, so most internet marketers just followed the results of that test.
I know this is off-topic, but when selling your own products or dropshipping you need to deal with sales tax....do you have a video for this or an idea who does? and do you have meditation things for sell?
It depends on what you are selling (services/digital products/physical products), how you are selling (ebay/amazon/your site/affiliate) it and where you are located. State/County each have rules. Find your local chamber of commerce and go chat with them... Plus find a good CPA in your area.
Great video as always, question- if u were to start a brand new business given what you know now, how long do think it would take to be profitable? How long until you could live of it?
+Jack K a service based business, selling FB ad services or marketing/funnel services? One email, and a few phone calls and I'd have it sorted. If I was going 100% content in a niche for info or affiliate products... Well, this channel took about 8 months to start making full time income. But this niche has more $$$ and more competition. There is a 1000 day theory but I have seen people pull it together in months. Selling services to businesses is the fastest option I know of. Two or 3 clients at $2500 - $5000/ mo and you are rocking. 5 at $1k
do you have a great story to tell? Are you an expert with something that you can absolutely write the best book in the world on a specific topic? Spamming Amazon with average at best content is a dead business model. but writing great books that people will love is always going to be good business
Do you know or can you point me into the right direction to expand my shirt business into a business like tee spring? I have all the equipment and that's kind of what I'd like to expand in doing. Thanks for all the videos!
So you have a print on demand system? They do so many one-off runs, I wonder how the logistics would work, seems like a nightmare. I'd find a target market of people who need batch runs of tees every year and just educate them on how to get the best deals and the best shirts their people will actually love....
Yea, I have the capabilities to do so. However, I think I am going to narrow it down like you said to a niche. I have been marketing to all thus far like those big companies. As much as I would like to do shirts for everyone, I'm sure I will go further doing one group of people.
This video is incredible! Thank you so much for helping me find what I'd been looking for. If there's anything I can do to assist you in return, please let me know.
Thanks for the great content! One thing to be aware of on the coaching or consulting is that some professionals (such as engineers) need to be licensed by the state they live in to offer those services to the public. Although, I do think having an engineering background gives you some credibility to market in other ways (ie, a product or system designed and tested by an experienced engineer).
An a working engineer myself I've thought about that path to getting my license, except I've realized I don't want to be an engineer. I'm now trying to learn from people like yourself how to leverage my skills, drive, and desires into something more entrepreneurial and sustaining. Thanks again for the help. It's been awesome so far! Looking forward to watching the rest.
That self-awareness is very important! Building a business you love versus a business that will make you money and feels like a job is one of the big tricks to fulfillment… And I believe fulfillment is the ultimate goal
Bret Emry while you're still an engineer...why not start a website as Pat Flynn did as an authority on all things engineering...a onestop website for colleges with that major and your take on them, what to do after you graduate, jobs in the field locally, etc and make money through Adsense and an Ebook!
I'm stuck I have signed into wealthy affiliate and I'm finding it really good but still the same time I am seeing that it will take sometime like 6 months I need income now. I know right just like most people but hey can u please help me thanks
In your opinion do you still think tech ( mobile phones, gadgets, smart devices, 3d printers etc) works as on online business or has it been saturated over the year's ??
Your content is unparalleled. Your verbal fluency, coherent thought process, and laser focus is to me simply off the charts. Thank you so much.
WOW...thank you for this information. I had no idea I could do all of these things!
