Been dreaming about having one of these brand new for years now. Absolutely gutted that they are discontinued. Hopefully in the next year or so i can find a 2020 and be able to afford it. Cheers man
I’m waiting to get my loan to pick mine up. I’m stoked! It wasn’t my first choice, hell it wasn’t a choice until I found out they were getting discontinued. I hope I enjoy it as much as you seem to enjoy yours.
If you’re a fan of 16K of high screaming inline 4 RPM.. and will get it tuned / add QS and track it often as the bike was meant to be used, then you will enjoy it as much as I am. (Check IG for track videos) otherwise, track review coming to YT pretty soon. 👍 PS: check with Yamaha for loan promos.. I got a 36 month 0 finance with them. 👌 (current offer is 2.99% www.yamahamotorsports.com/motorcycle/pages/yamaha-motorcycle-current-offers-finance)
Lol I guess it depends on where you live, here in NY they’re going for 9k and under with basically no miles .. I found a 17 last summer for 7500 400 miles bone stock with a full akra exhaust still in the box
Except for the fact that flashed and tuned the ZX6R is faster throughout the powerband and shadows the R6 everywhere. My nephew has the 2020 R6 with all the extras.
You got yours for 12.5 otd.... crazy. My dealership charged me 15.8k... felt like a rip off in a way but they were being sold left and right so I didn't have much of a choice if I wanted one now or years down the road.
Just got mine yesterday for $11.5k with 2,300 miles. Showroom perfect (plus it matches the viper!). Crazy what some dealers are asking nowadays - $14,990 for a 2019 with ~6,000 miles.. yikes!
Bought mine on March 2021 (brand new) and it too says 2021 on the pink slip and registration… wondering if I should try to resell now and get a 1000cc 🧐
Hey Petrol head, out of the 2014-2016 R6 vs the 2017-2020 R6, which do you think looks better? Also would like to know any differences in handling, power?
Looks.. it’s different for everyone.. go with what the heart desires. Power.. doesn’t matter.. with a $200 tune and some Bolt-ons you get 114 RWHP.. all engines from 2007-2020 is the same.. it’s all software changes. Handling wise -- you'd have to be a pro to tell the track difference but Yamaha says that new body style is very slippery compared to old and suspension / brakes are from R1.. Me personally? I chose latest and greatest. Why not!
If you want a 3k crotch rocket get the older one if you want a really nice bike thats more expensive and that’s practically better in every way for all intents and purposes street use then get the newer one.
I was planning to get an R6 next year and do the same mods as you, but then started looking into a Panigale V2. Now I can't decide. Having ridden both, what are your thoughts on how they compare? I prefer the sound and lighter weight of the R6 but the Panigale is also really cool and probably better suited for street riding. I don't really love the sound though. Maybe better in real life. Since the R6 is discontinued now I doubt I'll be able to find a new or new-ish R6 by Spring so that may force my choice anyway.
Hi Sir! I have been waiting for this topic because this issue also drives into my mind before... Haven't seen or finished this video yet hehe.. Wait and see. Thanks Sir!
Do you know of any shops in SoCal that can perform a dynotune/ECU flash? I don’t want to send the ECU somewhere, I’m trying to locate a shop with a dyno to perform the work. Thanks 🙏🏽💯🏍🦾🔥
I am really heartbroken after knowing that the R6 is going to be discontinued. Is it true that Yamaha will still have the R6 models for production which is not street legal but rather a registered only for race track purpose only?
They will be sold in EU only as of the late but not yet confirmed if It’s coming to the US.. and I have a feeling it won’t be cheap (estimating 15-20K)
If I have to I will buy the race model and make it road legal in the uk, the r6 is my dream bike, even though by the time I do that it might cost as much as an r1 lol
@@MADLITS1K hmm I only put500 on mine so far..got it in July. 18 model essentially brand new. Probably can get 10 for it. They go 12+ with taxes n shit. Bought it for high 9's.
The reason I want the R6 is because of the riding position. I have a naked bike, and i feel extremely dorky sitting upright, and tucking in on the highway on a upright bike just feels awkward. Logically, there's no reason to get an R6, it is an emotional decision. I missed out on the CBR600RR, I'm not gonna let the R6 go.
The R6 was made at a time where choices weren’t as plentiful as they are today.. the audience was also younger and bikes weren’t as expensive. That said.. it’s a purposeful bike meant for track use. Those who use it primarily on the street are using it the wrong way (myself included) but track days is where the bike shines. Stay tuned for the track review or check my Insta for preview vids.
