A good trick to help you remember your dreams better is to not immediately open your eyes and start moving around when you first get up, if you stay still and try to recall your dreams before you get up it can help with memory retention! It's how I keep my dreams in my head long enough to write them down because mine always have really complex plots lol.

I once went to school on stairs made out of metal and the whole sky was just metal gears and a bunch of machinery. And I don't remember too much other than at the start I was just putting on my backpack and opened the door to find the stairs, it was also filled with people that I never met irl. I still remember meeting my friends halfway through those steps. I have no idea how my mind could get so many details on the freaking sky-

One dream I always remember even thought it's been years ago... there were three of us and I was the camera man (basically it was first person view) and we were doing a exorcism on this woman, she was very pale had white hair and was wearing a white old gown. The room we were in felt like a cellar, it had no windows everything looked concrete and gray and there was a twin sized bed in the corner of the room where she was laying. I was standing on the far left of the room recording the woman who was possessed, the other person was standing in front of the bed doing the exorcism, and the other person who was just there was standing a bit further away ( I was standing the farthest away from everyone). Everything was going fine until she started screaming and floating in the air like in the movie The Exorcist she then jumped and attacked the one that wasn't doing anything and then jumped and attacked me... this scared the living hell out of me like I said it was first person view so I got jumped scared in my own eyes not on a screen. After this I woke up my heart was racing and I wouldn't go back to sleep that night out of fear I would go back into that dream.

The whole dream was much longer and confusing, but that's a part of it I'll always remember. These artworks are so gooood! I love the atmosphere and grays of the first one and I am OBSESSED with how you managed to draw the water squiggles because they're so cool but I've always had no clue how to even attempt to draw them. The depth in the water one is just amazing.
My dreams are either "wait was that a dream or a memory" or "I'm in a field and there's a girl standing in the distance and now I'm in Walmart and I'm flying and my mom is upset that the blue crayon won't fit into the dragon's mouth." I also go through various alternating periods of not remembering any dreams and then I'll remember some.
I do love those dreams when I fly. I haven't had real success with lucid dreaming but every once in a while, maybe once or twice in a year, I'll have a few weeks where it's super common for me to fly in my dreams. I wish I could fly.
Weirdly enough, too, my dreams don't tend to really be exactly first person? There might be some bits that are but a lot of it feels like third person like in the way a book writer would describe a scene rather than a person talking about their experience.
Also does anybody else have the experience where your brain will conjure up some person you know and say "This is Andrew" and it may not look anything like the Andrew you know it's supposed to be but you just accept that yup that person is Andrew because Dream Logic?
Thankfully I rarely have nightmares but unfortunately they've been gradually popping up more and more often in the past five years or so. Sometimes they're just basic nightmares but in the last year I've had two particularly distressing ones. I can still remember the way they made me feel. I remember one of them had to do with my family disowning me and threatening me.
I also rarely feel super immersed in the dream but, as with the nightmares, in the past few years it's becoming more and more common. I've woken up so abruptly from being deep in a dream (not even because of IRL disturbances) and that feeling of having to forcefully question what is real is Not Fun.

My therapist told me it has something to do with my being an empath, but it could very well just be me having a hyper vivid imagination as well. Don't be afraid. I'm hoping to become a psychologist in the future, I'd love to study how our walking lives affect dreams. I believe dreams can reveal things about ourselves that we may not acknowledge. Example: I've had over seven dreams of me singing over the past two weeks (I don't sing irl) singing is often associated with joy and progress, which describes my emotions recently as I've gotten accepted for a job I love.

i always felt like my dreams expressed lots of stuff about me and my life too! For example, in hindsight many of my still-in-school dreams were me switching from pov to pov and often not being me but other characters and people, different genders, one amazing time even a dragon. I now interpret that as me continuing my escapisms in fantasy novels and games and stuff into my dreams. I am always having a lot of fun finding all the dream details that are interpretations and references to my day/days before, they can be very vague and based on vibes and extremely personal associations only, but thats why its so fun!
The Nightmares after my father died on the other hand were way too much on the nose and explicit, what makes it interesting in another way i think. the amount of times i had dreams were my father returned from the dead or actually didnt die and was just in a coma for example, very telling. and i was always CONVINCED in the dream that he was indeed alive and i believed even the most ridiculous and altering what already happened explanations for him being alive. Basically my brain gaslighting me in extremely eery dreams. I remember one very vividly because it depicted one of many mundane family dinners so perfectly, me, my family, their appearances, voices, even the kitchen and the exact conversations, all could have been copied from some real day, except that i naively asked my father how he managed to come back from the dead, which aprubtly ended the dream.

@@evi6784 I’ve also had dreams in the past about a relative (my cousin) who died. I don’t normally have dreams about my personal life, since the majority of my dreams are based around fictional characters. But when my cousin died, I had this very vivid dream of her being alive. I was in first person perspective and the dialogue we had felt so real. We ate dinner together at grandma & grandpa’s house (we used to meet there regularly) with the rest of the family, where we talked about how she was unconscious and taken to the hospital, but made a quick recovery. Which is obviously a lie, since she died before even getting to a hospital. But I fully believed it. I didn’t question the reality of the statement in the dream…I was fully convinced then and there that she was alive. But then I woke up from the dream, and reality settled in. I don’t consider that dream a nightmare though. It was actually really pleasant, as it felt like I was living normal life with her still around. But it’s definitely one of the most bitter sweet dreams I’ve ever had

I have aphantasia so although I do dream I don’t get any vivid imagery and it’s incredibly hard for me to remember my dreams once I wake up. When I dream it’s almost like trying to look at something through your eyelashes, I can’t really see anything other than like blurry silhouettes but my brain somehow understands that and I fully understand what’s happening. Even my other senses rarely activate, I usually hear things almost telepathically in dreams, and I only feel and smell things on the rarest occasions but I usually don’t. So it’s always really fun hearing about other people’s dreams and how vivid they can be.

Sometimes I envy people who can’t feel specific sensations of touch in their dreams. It doesn’t always happen in my dreams, but it’s often enough. Sometimes I even feel some simulated version of pain. Like, it’s not real pain and some part of me knows that, but it still hurts in some half disconnected way.
How it really feels it hard to explain but it sucks, especially when it’s in what I like to call an “existential fear” nightmare or something like that, where nothing makes sense but I can still vividly recall everything that happened. I just can’t explain it properly because what’s so terrifying is usually a concept or sensation, like one where everything felt like it was taking an eternity in the most terrifying way possible or one where it felt like I absolutely had to find something but I knew it wasn’t possible.
If I had to explain how one of those nightmares looked/felt, my best approximation would be to tell you to imagine impossible geometry, uncomfortable textures, and vague pain/discomfort due to the presence/existence of said things.
Anyway nightmares suck. Would not recommend.

Love this concept oml. I've never really been able to feel anything in dreams myself, even when I was severely injured, the only times I was able to feel anything was when it was raining. I always remember the uncomfortable feeling of all my clothes being soggy and drenched.

Omg the last one reminded me of a dream I had where I woke up in my room and looked out my window to see that I was submerged about 15 ft under clear blue water and ppl were swimming outside! It was a really cool dream and felt kinda surreal

One time I dreamt that I was at my friends house, which kept changing and turning into completely different, extremely detailed buildings in different interior and exterior styles. And Squirrelflight, Leafpool, Bluestar, Echomist and Ravenpaw were all there talking to me- Nothing happened, tho, and I can’t remember anything of what the cats said lol

TLDR: I like seeing how different people experience dreams. I don't experience touch/pain/heat sensations or smell but my dreams are visually and audibly vivid. My dreams are often recurring or they follow the same plot line with a previous dream. I dream in third person but when recalling them they "play" in first person (and also memories of real life events are in third person[which i obviously experienced in first person])
my favorite thing about this is hearing about how you experience dreams. my dreams are very visually clear and vivid and have a setting, but I don't experience any touch/heat/pain sensations (since you mentioned you felt cold). My dreams also are very clear about their meaning unlike other people's and generally make sense. Like for example I was thinking about if I should go to college or not for an art education degree and that night I had a nightmare about a local art high school that had accepted me before and I chose not to go to begging for me to come there. it even talked about scholarships and stuff and helped me realize that I really don't want to go to college.
Also, I often have repeated dreams/dreams that follow a storyline. After getting lost in a store and approaching someone who looked like my dad but were just slightly off and it scaring the crap out of me, I had nightmares for years that the devil had copied my dad and was trying to get me and whenever I saw someone who was just a bit off from a family member it would cause a nightmare that night that was a continuation of the previous but now a demon had copied the new family member.
One time I had a recurring dream that I had to "solve". When I finally solved it was the only time I have lucid dreamed. Basically at the point where I would normally make a choice that led to my death, I said 'hey wait a minute. this has happened before. this is a dream. what if i do the other thing instead' then it had a happy ending and I haven't had the dream since but I have thought about it, a lot.
Also another interesting thing is that, in general, all of my memories are in third person, unless the main component of the memory is someone smiling at me, and even though I'm aware and know that the dream occurred in third person, and remember it happening in third person, when I recall it it's in first person (like when i watch it back like a video its in first person).

My most vivid dreams are very sensory. Like bugs climbing all over my neck of something. My most vivid one, I thought I was awake. So I was laying in bed, trying not to fall asleep, when I noticed a faint glow in the pile of covers at the foot of my bed. I crawled over to it and started trying to dig it out from the blankets. The blankets and sheets were very soft and very real, and the glowing thing was a small metal disk. I was still trying to get it out of the covers when I realized it was a button. I thought, screw it, and pressed it. Suddenly there was a high pitch noise and I felt worms or snakes or something start to wiggle into my ears, then I screamed and woke up. I think it was like the third nightmare I had had that night but it's the only one I can remember now

You have to remember stuff from your dream, sometimes places or moments from my dreams hit me like a train once I figure out I have seen it before when I have only in my dream. It's better to remember them because they could mean something very import, and if you have more dreams then that means your on the right path. So being able to remember them is how you can tell the future. That is most of the ways mediums future tell.

I have never come across another person who dreams as vividly as I do, including being able to smell and feel textures in the dream as well as struggling to desern realities when I wake up. Then I saw this video and it was actually really comforting knowing that someone else dreams like this. Also you managed to convey great feeling in your art, you did a great job.

i once had a nightmare that ended with me getting shot in the temple of my head. when i woke up, i felt blood pouring out of my temple and my head ached in the exact same spot i was shot. but when i put my hand to my head, there was nothing there. no blood, no wound, nothing. it still haunts me to this day

i know for a fact my dreams form from things i think about often, and in some instances its embarrassing but a clear example is when i kept on leaning to the topic of the recent texas shooting and the same night i had a dream about being in a shooting in my school, nothing you dream is ever original, so yes even if a dream you have is silly and doesnt make sense (its good you have nomral non-nightmarish dreams btw) it still usually hints onto your everyday thoughts.
