Hi Dave, I hate that you have trouble finding things but I do think your inventory system is one of the better ones I've seen and I do the same as you. I do however perform a year end audit. Between Christmas and New Years, I pull box by box and compare it to my listings on Ebay. I run a report by Custom SKU and that helps me perform the audit. I've done it two years in a row now and have found lots of items that weren't even listed anymore that I have to relist and then I also discover things that are in the wrong boxes and then I can move them back. I also purge old inventory and send it to a garage sale. If I don't sell it there - I then re-donate it. It's a process but it has been very helpful and it lets me start the year super fresh!
I have a lot of garage sales during the nice weather when I want to purge old listed inventory. It is not that much work to have multiple ones, do it for 3 hours on a Fri or Sat morning, then box and donate the junk that doesn't sell and call it a day. Business write off there. I always advertise my ebay store and you tube channel at the sale and get subs and new local reseller friends from it, so it is a win all the way around. My normal gross on a yard sale is around $100 per hour on average, even if a lot is low dollar items.
Dave You need to give yourself a Pat on the Back - You are Incredible - - Full Time Job- You Tube(several channels) which we love all of them- E-bay store- listing shipping sourcing + Most importantly you are a Great Dad, Husband & Son !!! You are a Super Hero!! Stay Positive !!!
I’ve never commented before, but I’m one of the quiet watchers enjoying your videos and learning. Despite being a reseller since 1999, and a North Carolina Gal, I still learn from you. I just spent the past two weeks going through all my inventory piece by piece. I use your letter method. I found something that I had sold 3x! At last! Now let’s try for the fifth time. 😂 And I had 7 things no longer listed and had been wondering why they haven’t sold. Doh! 460 active eBay listings and 5290 on posh! Highs and lows like any job, but tomorrow’s a new day. That’s what I always remind myself when I get distracted and discouraged with reselling. I learn from you, bearded thrifter and Lavender Clothesline. Keep up the good work, and chin up!
Dave, You're truly 'one of a kind'....I mean that in a good way. You always amaze me with your tactics (or lack of)...You always make me shake my head (entertaining). I always learn (something) from your videos. I adore you and your family (especially Momma Picker)!! Keep making your videos and ignore the haters. You're a good person, and really, no one with half a brain will disagree.
I have smaller totes and drawers for smaller items and larger bins for bigger things, easier to find those little. Sorta like Kevin with his drawers of stickers, earrings, keychains. Wrap breakables in bubble and label them? I wrap in old pillowcases.
Sounds like you need a "smalls" section, shelf, bin, drawers, pockets what-evers. Depending on what sort of space you have available. I don't think you need to shut down your store completely. Go through the inventory box by box, and pull the smalls out and put them in a separate box w/ a new sort of sku designation that lets you know that box is full of smalls. It will probably take a concentrated effort to adjust custom sku numbers while you make the new adjustments. You might have to do some condensing to make room for the new smalls section. I think someone else suggested plastic baggies for the smalls zip-lock bags work well for that.
I would love to see your family do a yard sale. I think it would be so much fun. I have been reselling since last September and I am learning so much from you. I am only doing it part time. I do not sell much at all.
You can invest in plastic food storage bags (small, medium, & large) for your inventory. That way they’re not scratching / bumping up on each other inside the bins. You’d theoretically need no more than ~1000 you can just cycle through
Dave you should have a spring yard sale at your house to get rid of that ld stock you would probably benefit from that a lot more and make more money off your old over stock just a suggestion
Hi Dave 👋 I have to say Commonwealth used to b my fave but u have become very entertaining 😁 Love watching ur families interaction with u❤ Have a yard sale and make sure u advertise 💪 also Love ur cooking channel. U should make banana nut bread 😊 Thanks for sharing and entertaining 😁 Stay Safe and Blessed 🙏💞
😅This WAS the first video I’ve watched on your channel. And although you were all over the place, I feel like that is how my brain/life is going right now and I was completely able to follow your play by play. 😊 I immediately subscribed and look forward to watching more of your videos!
I am one of the silent people just enjoying your channel. Keep it up as i learn how even if your small you can do it! BTW free is good. Remember to add expense (travel, gas, cleaning etc) against sales, so you can write off the cost. :)
May I suggest with glass and breakables wrap them in paper and label it It protects the item and makes picking easier. I am a part time reseller and store items in Rubbermaid buckets using that method.
On the reorganization, I stop using older totes for new inventory and let them filter down on a yearly basis, and just start new totes. When they do get small enough to inventory audit quickly, I do and then put a fresh date on them; and put them back in service. Seems to limit the "oops" factor to a minimum. Keep bringing the content!
LOL..😃 I always watch all of your video's even if you are rambling a little bit. You make me feel better about myself rambling and repeating myself. 😃 Always like to see Hazel, she looks so fluffy and funny. Could not figure out what that guys problem was who lives in Daytona who expected you to promote his store. Keep being you. You will figure out what you need to do. The Reseller Genie sounds like a good way to track things. Love your fun family.
Good deal selling you old items…at least your clearing them out. 😊 good on you! I know you hate suggestions…keep smalls in a central location. I used to be a resources manager. I had to keep like items together, otherwise I couldn’t find them. It’s frustrating, I know. Hey, a GS is a wonderful idea. Your mom & aunt would help you, I bet. And your family, too! A good way for them to earn some extra cash. Good luck, Dave!
You can correct your storage system very very easy without stopping to much trouble. I had the same problem as you did. I have large totes and 5 of my totes, I have small shoe box totes within those totes. Makes finding small stuff super easy, instead digging through a hole big box, you look in A-8 thats tote A and box 8. The totes fit 15 small of those smaller boxes. Hope that helps
A large group of your followers/viewers feel that you need to make room for Hazel . If you move FL70, that would be a purrfect spot for Hazel to oversee things. 😆
I think that you should stop talking about the negative comments. Internet trolls are desperate for human interaction and relationships. By saying that they affect you, you’re giving them exactly what they’re after. Plus your videos have tons of views, so the trolls then get to hear on a wide platform that they got to you, they won. The best thing you could ever do to get back at a troll is ignore them
7:02 You've made so nice improvements to your inventory system recently when you built the DVD/Games shelf. That was a good move. I am not sure what else we can do as eBay sellers other than using a bin/box system like you have (and I have). You could maybe move your smalls to your bench drawers like Lonnie & Candice (Shed Flips) do. That seems to work for them. Cheers! Julien
Nothing for nothing Dave, I held a garage sale to rid old inventory, and sold 2/3rds of it. Got the idea from Pual (philly phlipper). $830 later…. Just saying. Plan on it again this year. As Kevin says… adapt.
You will have to ship those items you sell on What Not, and now you have shipping supplies cost, for 1 dollar items you would lose your shirt, just on shipping supplies and the amount of time would be nuts. Garage sale, they give you a buck and walk off with it. What is left over just donate, or make a free box on your curb. If you advertise Garage Sale say "Everything is $1.00 each. They will swarm and take it all. But we want to watch it, too much fun.
50% off sale is aggressive but if you moving old inventory it is cool. I always just do coupons but after this video may rethink it and just put store on sale. Not 50% lmao😂😂😂 but usually run 20% off list price coupon. So maybe 25% sale see how it goes. Always enjoy the videos when you can't find something always makes me know I'm not alone. You one of the real you tubers out there and always enjoy your videos.
So your box system is great but you need a small box for small items. I have large tubs and then I have what I call Mini tubs and all the small items go in those and it makes it a lot easier.
Time to audit your inventory, Dave….I did it for my Amazon store (95% books…over 4000 of them) and half way through doing it for my eBay store. Provides a change also to re-comp items, update pics & description, etc….basically, I just ended half my items so I can review each one, one-by-one; make necessary changes to the listing and then repost using sell similar (and try not to forget to delete the old one)
Hey Theresa, we have an entire YT channel dedicated to help videos, and if you go to our "Lives" we have demos going over how to use the software from start to finish. :) ruclips.net/channel/UCoVCqok3GEV2K6aqOgCH_qQ
Instead of running a sale, end your old items, select them, then choose "sell similar." That way they all look like new listings. If I sold things at 50% off I'd be paying people to take it.
Why don't you get all that death pile from your dads? List most of it, then others put in the yard sale. What you are selling is great on old stock, but get the other things sell it on eBay mxx
Always enjoy your videos. I have mentioned a garage sale several times in videos. I hunk it’s a great idea and you can make great money and get rid of stuff. Just my opinion. Hazel is a doll so sweet!!!
I forget the seller but I guess it’s not important but he has his small items in rolling drawer tool boxes set up by drawer locations very effective pulling those smalls. Plus you have several feet of counter area for phots and shipping staging etc. just a thought
Eek a yardsale? People never wanna pay a reasonable amount 😜 I had 2 last year..a big 4 County wide sale & one local; I couldn't give stuff away!! Good stuff! New kids clothes, jeans with tags, brand names, everything you can carry for a dollar! People might grab one or 2 things...just a few grabbed crazy amount but I was still left with trailer full of donations! I'm not a good salesperson even if I think I'm a great one 🤷♀️😅
Dave just listed what uve got you got it to put on ebay not to yard sale lol get up 2 hours early everyday and work through death pile think of th3 money don't take easy route hope you and family are well
You sold 29 items by lowering your price in one day. That's loads better than a garage sale. Just keep it up. Heck, make it 30 percent and you might sell less but you'll make more return on your investment and you'll always have things to pull for content. Garage sales are where you purchase!
Seems like you need to use that software, selling items that cheap means that if your not getting shipping cost exactly right, you must be losing money.
I can see why you would want to clear out some old stock. The problem now is you have to ship them. Seems like a lot of work for very little money. I would just donate some of the cheapest stuff and then have the yard sale you mentioned and just sell everything cheep. Just set up a $1,$2,$3 table. Even selling them cheap on Whatnot means you have to ship them.
Every day I check my listings by oldest first and I end and bulk sell similar 10 percent cheaper everything that is about to hit 3 months old. This works incredibly well for me. It has increased my sell through incredibly.
Dave it makes more sense to take the old stock from your boxes and yard sale or whatnot that, then restock your boxes with your death pile stuff..If you get rid of the good death pile stuff you are still going to be in the same situation. By the way, stop reading the haters. You should have your wife screen them and delete the stupid meanies.
Not sure if you’ll see this but I didn’t know how else to contact you! You have the same item posted on your eBay page twice! It’s the Vintage MCM ceramic pottery handmade vase drop glaze 1970’s. I took screen shots if you need them
Dude, I just got kicked off of Instagram over hashtags I put on some of my sunglasses pics over a year ago. I seriously didn’t know that I couldn’t tag other brands that I’m not advertising. I was trying to get my glasses to show up when people search for other brands.
WELL, by gawd ! You better pay attention to what I have to say ! LOL. Seriously just be Dave. Be honest, be moral and be at peace with it. Keep on keepin' on brother!! 🤣🐷🐖
well since most items you've sold don't have a shelf life they were just slow movers that suggest to me they could've been overpriced in the first olace an possibly sold a lot sooner if you would have reduced them earlier
I think you just need to go thru your death pile and sort it into piles of redonate, sell quick, and ebay. Only keep the stuff you know you will list because you enjoy listing that type of item or know its good money just sitting there. Maybe contact another reseller that would be interested in a bulk buy. And whatnot for the quick sales. You could have a garage sale, but in my experience, it's just a weekend wasted because you only sold 10 things lol. The amount of time overseeing the garage sale, could have been used to list 100 things on ebay. Or selling on whatnot and it ACTUALLY SELLS. maybe for only a dollar. But it's GONE lol
I ran a sale this week for 30% off older items, then 20%, 10% and 5%. I have been having low sales also. It stinks making such low amount on things. I am thinking of a yard sale as well just to get some stuff out of my garage.
I wish I could get motivated to list $5 items and Especially $5 items I might have to put on a 50% sale eventually and be motivated enough to ship that $2 item 😂. I’m sure you make way more than me because you’re willing to do that but damn it just kills me lol.
Giving some constructive criticism, your inventory organization is great, you know how to source some good items, but the photos for your listings are horrible, putting a little more time into photos would make your sales a lot better. Ebay and google prefers a white background.
When you run 50% off do you get watchers anticipating you to send them something more? Just curious because I've been experiencing a lot of that lately! Haven't commented for a while but gaining steam catch you on the back side. Love the program Dave! PS. You've inspired me more than you know
@@arenavisionTV incredibly annoying lol. The reason I started ebay was my city is full of cheap hagglers that lowball everything. It was going great. Until one day I got a lowball offer on ebay. From someone in my city. They still found me 🤬
Hi Dave, I hate that you have trouble finding things but I do think your inventory system is one of the better ones I've seen and I do the same as you. I do however perform a year end audit. Yes 🙌 also it’s relatable you know we’re not all reselling machines. 🤷🏻♀️ It’s funny too. ❤
It seemed like a good what not auction last night. Quite a few in attendance. You need to do what's best for you and your store

I’ve printed out a list of all my items so I can choose items to end listings so I can put them in my yard sale.
What is your cooking show channel?
WELL, by gawd ! You better pay attention to what I have to say ! LOL. Seriously just be Dave. Be honest, be moral and be at peace with it. Keep on keepin' on brother!! 🤣🐷🐖
well since most items you've sold don't have a shelf life they were just slow movers that suggest to me they could've been overpriced in the first olace an possibly sold a lot sooner if you would have reduced them earlier
Whatnot would be great for moving your old items.
I checked out that Dana guy and he's just ok. Definitely no Dave, but solid for a Dana I guess.
I ran a sale this week for 30% off older items, then 20%, 10% and 5%. I have been having low sales also. It stinks making such low amount on things. I am thinking of a yard sale as well just to get some stuff out of my garage.
how did you do that by date listed??
@@popsneaks8188 when you set up your markdown sale, there is a section for days listed
PS. You've inspired me more than you know
Buddy. I've listed things at 99 cents and they still send offers and watch just waiting for one.
@@meticulouselectronics oh wow. That's incredible
@@arenavisionTV incredibly annoying lol. The reason I started ebay was my city is full of cheap hagglers that lowball everything. It was going great. Until one day I got a lowball offer on ebay. From someone in my city. They still found me 🤬
