I watch a ton of “fix it”, tool test, “how to”, and review videos. I am also a contractor, and can fix most things. I love your video. It is probably the best and most thorough “how to”, I have seen. Your lighting and camera angles are soooo good, it leaves little in question. I will be watching a lot more of your library!

I like the Korky Fill-Valves, better than FluidMaster.
I am tired of the Flapper valves. Both Korky and Fluidmaster trickled out and cause fathom/Ghost flushs. I switched my 2-piece toilet to the new Kohler cylinder type and finally not more Ghost-Flushes.

1st thing I want to say is to thank you for your service, I came across you on Facebook. Notice a plumbing job you were doing underneath a bathroom sink. I found you on RUclips and you caught my interest, I just subscribe to your channel and will be looking forward to many more videos. I am a DIY kind of guy who likes repairing or replacing things if I can, and the more information you could get on doing these things the more knowledgeable you become, and also save money. I also like that you put up the tools you can use or get to do the job right down to the detail.

I tried getting rusted out bolts with a socket, pliers, everything I could get my hands on. I even considering cutting the bolt. Then I had the idea of trying good old WD-40. That worked excellent! I sprayed it on the bolt. By the time I got myself to the floor and ready to wrangle that bolt again, the WD-40 kicked in and worked its magic! I twisted it once with pliers, and after that it was finger loose enough to unscrew with my fingers! Happy Day for me!!!

You can put a nut on the under side of the screws before mounting it to the floor portion… there is plenty of room for that extra nut and then there is no danger of breaking the the tank so you can tighten it as much as you want.

This kit worked great. Disappointed it advertised as "complete kit" and did not come with a lever and arm. I had to drive back to the store to buy that separately not realizing it wasn't really a complete kit. Otherwise it worked great. I did end up buying the Korky lever and arm too, which was very easy to install.

I ended up pushing down on the tank to seat the tank onto the seal between the tank and bowl. If it had been really difficult to seat the seal into toilet bowl I would have put some silicone grease on the seal to make it seat completely.

Great video and information Brian, in my 65 years of life I have never had to replace the flush valve assembly just the flapper and fill valve assembly. What caused the flush assembly to go bad and the bolts to deteriorate was it cleaner or to much chlorine in the water?

I just used Korky to replace the flush unit. thought I was replacing the flapper valve, but mine is some weird thing that you can't hold down the handle to empty the water, because the part that the flapper valve sits on is about 2-3" above. I really think the plumber who did this one, did it incorrectly as there is virtually no room between the flush unit and the fill, I have a difficult time adjusting the little hose. and it STILL leaks. suggestions?

Thanks for the vid, helped a lot --- However, in my kit (same as you show down to part#), tank nuts were 1/2"
I also wish Korky would supply wing nuts for the tank bolts (like Fluidmaster), in addition to the Hex nuts, but overall, I think the valve design is superior to FM and easier to adj.

Hi Brian, I have an older, one-piece Toto. I can’t read the model number inside the tank. Unfortunately it was stamped on in ink which is now almost completely washed off, instead of being embossed into the ceramic. Anyway, do you think a “universal” rebuild kit from Fluidmaster or Korky would work on a Toto? Thanks for your help!

It would've been quicker to pull the WC and replace it! Some people would rather you replace the flush valve and flapper maybe tank to bowl gasket when they should've listened to you when you proposed replacing it .What a pain in the ass it turned out to be! Some people don't listen to common sense but all you can do is suggest a better solution .

If fluidmaster is so good then why replace one that still looks good? I get the whole "replace everything and avoid problems" thing but it just seems wasteful, I’ve seen RUclips videos where people do tank rebuilds and take out a fluidmaster valve that can’t be older that four years old. Here’s an example: ruclips.net/video/HFLEoBAJj2E/видео.htmlsi=CReh_51qqiGuOkcp

That tank-to-base setup is extremely janky. That's not at all what Korky had in mind. I read about several personal accounts of the porcelain cracking due to trying to tighten it until flush, too. Not a fan of this Korky redesign whatsoever.
