When a bike sits for a decade, all the rubber including tires will rot. It's commom sense. This happened to my master brake cylinder on a 79 Toyota. It also happened to my 92 Honda civic. Bikes and cars wear and tear when they sit for too long. Next you need to inspect the gas because ethanol eats metal.
It was bought new in 2016 from a local dealer in Ohio from the previous owner, It sat unused in his garage until a few months ago when I bought it. There is one more that I saw recently at a dealer still new old stock with 140 miles I think. $8000 I think is there asking price.
Are you talking about the O-rings with item # 12396-KCR-940 ? There are 4 of them. Did you change all 4 O-rings? Can you tell what was wrong with the old O-rings? Was it the dowel pins (that are situated above the O-rings) that initially made the sound?
Yes I think they are called cylinder head gasket B. I replaced all 4. I think over time they just shrunk. The O Rings fit over the dowel pins. I think it is just a poor design. There is so much pressure from the exhaust gases that the smallest deforming of the o ring, then it starts to leak making the ticking noise.
Thanks for your video, just recently bought a 2014 model with just 140 miles on it, all though its running perfectly should i run into this annoying ticking i know exactly what to do. 👍👍🫡
Great find, these are some great bikes, I ride mine all the time, no problems yet
I had similar problem with my 2013. It was the oil viscosity. Cb1100 likes 10W30, if you put 10W40 it will tick.
I have a similar symptom, gonna have to try this. Thanks for the vid.
This is going on with a lot of ‘13-‘14 models. Just had the same exact problem and it was the same fix.
Besides noise, does the o ring issue have any other effect on the engine?
