All I've ever needed to get stoned is the music! I feel very lucky to've been young in the 70s - we had all the best music, not just Skynyrd but Zeppelin, Alice, Purple, Lizzy, SAHB, Robin Trower, Free ...and they're all on Y.Tube making me young again!
Best band of the day by far - I was 20 and having the time of my life - thanks for the memories! I still remember how hot, tired, filthy, drunk and happy we were by the end of it! Hi to everyone who was there X
My first concert but in 97' still had Rossington,Powell, and Wilkenson back then and maybe Artimus Powell but I was so fucked up in Charollet N.C. that night I was only 17 but had a hell of a time.
I have had the chance to play this song live with Artimus.. as you can see in the photo I'm playing bass in this photo with Crawdaddy live in a ski lodge in north NJ. in 2010 We were getting ready to play That Smell here Artimus was telling the crowd how Ronnie wrote the song about Allen smashing into the same oak tree twice the second time totaling a brand new Lincoln Continental in 75 some time...Ronnie pissed off wrote the song !! Tony Valvano xoxo
lineups don't change completely,I'm familiar with Skynyrd, name dropping means nothing,I can read too, Lynyrd Skynyrd is long gone, reminds me of the latest Chevy Malibu...old name that was once on an exciting product .... now on a new bland product .
Give it a rest, line-ups change. Skynyrd's changed often even before the crash. I prefer Ronnie (most people do) but Gary Rossington and Billy Powell (who recently died) remained a part of the band. Ricky Medlocke had his moments with the band prior to the crash. Johnny is Ronnie's his little brother and does a good job on the old songs.
Posers ? The band touring under the name Lynyrd Skynyrd today have absolutely nothing in common with the band in this video, any comparisons are completely reaching ,for all intensive purposes Skynyrd DIED with that plane crash. Huckeby had "Skynyrd" on his show last week end, they sounded good... but so do plenty of cover bands. No Bonham no Zeppelin no Moon no Who no Bon Scott no....

Ed King does kill on Strat. But if you think this is Ed on strat in this video, you are mistaken. This is Steve Gaines. He was incredible
