      Filipe Doria, more like Holdsworth likely borrowed from him. (Not to diminish Holdsworth at all. He’s equally a great player/musician in his own right.

      Filipe Doria both Holdsworth & Liebman heavily influenced by John Coltrane. Holdsworth wanted to be a horn player in his youth!!

      @@Ianthe22 ... I was going to agree with Mr. Scott but now Ianthe has me scared. I’ll be the next insult. 😿 Why is playing an exercise with ultimate perfection less than an improvisation?

    • @Ianthe22
      @Ianthe22 3 года назад

      @@robkunkel8833 You do know what the difference between an improv and an excercise is right? First of all, the man playing the sax calls it an improv, which pretty much makes it, that. The other thing is Jeremiah Scott said only that it "sounded like an improv". I don't have any problem with that part at all, that is a question about personal taste, understanding etc.. The problem is the latter part. Even without the komma, he says that it is "not a real improvisation". Now of course many runs and figures in music has later been adopted as excercises. That is a common thing in music. But let's turn it around then, what is a "Real" improv then??? Is it playing simple one notes, fiddling around with time breath and intensity of the sound? Since you can take his side after so much consideration, i am not doubting that you can also explain what a "Real improv" is, compared to why this isn't an improv... gladly await your answer. Just take your time.
