    I'm African American, from Louisiana. I did my test with Ancestry as well, and I wasn't so much surprised with how much European ancestry I had given the state's complex racial history, but the traces from so many regions is what was so surprising, 67% African (Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon/Congo, Senegal, ASEB, North Africa, Mali) 30% European (England, Italy Greece, Irish, Western European, European Jewish, Iberian Peninsula, Finland) 2% Caucasus, and

    My mother is Puerto Rican and My Dad is Half Puerto Rican/ Dominican...My Results :
    44% AFRICAN (18% Ivory Coast/ Ghana, 11% Nigerian, 5% Congo, 4% Senegal, 2% Benin/Togo, 1% Africa North, 1% S.Eastern Bantu, 1%< Africa South Central Hunter Gather, 1%< Mali).
    40% EUROPEAN (18% Iberian Peninsula, 10% Ireland, 5% Italy/Greece, 3% European Jewish , 2% Great Britain, 1% Europe East/West, 1%< Scandinavia).
    10% NATIVE AMERICAN - North/South America
    5% WEST ASIA (4% Middle East, 1% Caucus).
    1%< POLYNESIA
    When I get the chance I'll make a video :) Pretty much split down the middle. I have to say I didnt think I'd have that much European. I thought it would be wayyyy lower like 25% and I thought my African was going to be like 50%. I was way off. Didnt expect Ireland, Italy, Britain, and especially European Jewish anything lol.

    Your results are pretty interesting. I also did the ancestryDNA test because being the son of a Venezuelan father and an African American mother I was curious about what I inherited from my parents. My results came back 41% African, 41% European, 16% Native American and 2% South Asian. Hopefully as more people take the ancestryDNA test, they will be able to refine the results and gives more specific ancestry percentages especially regarding Native American ancestry.

    • @OriginalMaster16
      @OriginalMaster16  9 лет назад +2

      +firstpower100 Oh wow! thats amazing!!! 16% native american!! that is alot!!! but not too surprising because of venezuela being in south america and those countries have alot of amerindian decent! Have you tried uploading your raw data to GEDMATCH? i did last night, and WOW!! they have alot of in depth break downs. its kind of confusing though because they have so many calculations and different pie charts and things. I would suggest googling and reading about gedmatch first...oh yea and its free to upload on there!!!

    The 8% West Asian can be from the Lebanese people who immigrated to the Dominican Republic before WW2 and post WW1. Most of them were Christian Lebanese escaping religion persecution from the Ottoman Empire(Muslims). They went all over many Latin America countries as well.
    It's actually estimate that 85,000 of current Dominicans are of Lebanese descent or have some Lebanese roots. In fact one of our very know Dominican cuisine that we usually eat such as "Kipe" is actually of Lebanese origin.
    Also we even had a fully Lebanese descent President in the Dominican Republic. Lebanese people contributed A LOT to the Dominican culture and our genetic as well.

    • @OriginalMaster16

      +Mino R.D. that is where it may come from then!!! its either that, or when the moors took control over spain. I wish i knew which one, but either way its amazing. and on GEDMATCH my west asian, middle eastern goes up to 16% or more...the range in ancestry DNA goes up to 12%

    • @Dominican_Empire
      @Dominican_Empire 8 лет назад +1

      Headchampion Yeah it could have be, you should try to get your family tree in order, you can go back to DR and try to see if you find those documents on your town Catholic Church or in the "El Ayuntamiento or Alcaidia" you can check ur family records, sometimes they dont have it cuz some ppl back in DR didn't paid much attention to keeping family records but you should try once u have a chance to travel to DR.
      It could be that or it could be straight from Spaniards but i doubt it. Cuz i didnt come out with West Asian DNA & no every Dom has West Asian DNA which i assumed ur W.A. dna most have been from direct roots.
      What town & province are u back in DR? I could try & do some research about where exactly did Lebanese ppl settled.
      Dam thats much more, u need to check on that more serious. Anyway let me know ur parents town/state back in DR.

      On the Origins of “Dominican”
      The first recorded use of the word "Dominican" is found in a letter written by King Phillip IV of Spain in 1625 to the inhabitants of the Spanish colony of Hispaniola. In this letter, which was written before the arrival of French settlers on the Western side of the island, the King congratulates the "Dominicans" for their heroic efforts in defending the territory from an attack by the Dutch fleet. The term or demonym ("gentilicio") "Dominican" was used in reference to the Dominican Order - after their patron Saint Dominic - which had been a key institution and element in shaping the island's post-Columbian religious and civic identity for over a century. This letter can be found today in the "Archivo General de Indias" in Seville, Spain.

    I'm not gon lie, I dead thought you was just a light skin Black American. My mother's family are light skin Black Americans and my father's family is multi-ethnic but they identify as Black. , so growing up as a kid I was always used to seeing people who looked "slightly" different from me so it took me a while to understand that not all people of color consider themselves Black. Outsiders would find it weird to meet my family and see someone who looks Mexican but talks ebonics and loves soul food. We all grew up around the Black American culture. So I definitely had a reality check growing up and understanding that not everybody is Black American, but also blessed to understand the diversity of Blackness even within my own family whereas other people can't look at those differences and see unity.

    • @OriginalMaster16
      @OriginalMaster16  8 лет назад +23

      i AM just a light skinned black person! my parents just happen to be from the Dominican republic is all. We are a part of the diaspora just like African Americans and other countries who come from slavery

    • @nubeazul5963
      @nubeazul5963 7 лет назад +11

      Headchampion you're mixed race. Not a light skinned black. African Americans use their ethnicity and race interchangeably. Nowhere in the world is a mixed race person called black, except US because of the one drop rule. Some AAs call themselves light skinned because they wer never allowed to identify as mixed race/biracial. There is a big difference. You have European ancestry.

    • @jaygreen1838
      @jaygreen1838 7 лет назад +2

      We're all mixed, we've been colonized. Some groups are more mixed than others, but just because you have European ancestry doesn''t make you less black. Race is social construct, its a political statement. There are ethnic differences among us but we are all still Black in that sense. The same way not all White people are actually white, for example Russians are technically people of color there are still indigenous people there today, yet they have been able to assimilate to America's exploitative and ever-changing idea of whiteness.

    • @nubeazul5963
      @nubeazul5963 7 лет назад +9

      Aamari Green having European ancestry doesn't make you less black? Ummm actually that's exactly what it does. LITERALLY. You're asking people to lie about who they are and erase their identity as if they never existed. Why is that? What is so threatening about the idea that people have multiple ethnic/racial heritage. Every other group of people recognizes mixed race groups:individuals except for African American. Because you have been beaten, killed, jailed, segregated to keep a pure whiteness in the US. You are actually contributing to the erasure of blackness. Mixed race people are the face of African Americans set forth as the respectable, beauty standard. Look at your activists and beauty queens. Who do you see? Also there are groups of mixed race people in the US like creoles and melungeons. Why should they subvert their cultures?

    • @nubeazul5963
      @nubeazul5963 7 лет назад +8

      And as per the "we're all mixed" thing. Look in the mirror and tell me if anyone is going to feature you in the cover of a magazine called MiXed Men. We're talking about phenotype here. Americans have race so screwed up y'all don't even recognize what blackness actually looks like. Real Subsaharan African blackness. This is why the Rachel Dolezal and Paris Jacksons of the world are thriving. Because you guys want to claim EVERYBODY as black.

    very cool! I want to take that test, too. Your Middle Eastern heritage is probably from your Iberian heritage. Southern Spaniards have Middle Eastern heritage, which is where Flamenco and Southern Spanish music's heritage comes from. :-)

    What an interesting video! I like the way you're really interested and happy knowing your heritage. You're really dissecting all the info. That's great little bro. They're always advertising these ancestry.coms on tv and I've had a vague interest but now that I'm seeing this I'm anxious to do it myself. Just think. Maybe if more individuals learned their ancestry it might help to alleviate the racism and hate crimes. Wishful thinking. I am an African-American woman and I'm expecting my results to show heavy native american results due to the regions where my elders lived here in the US. But who knows? Thanks a lot for this. Now every youtuber and his brother is getting into the act. Yours is the first one that I've watched. Proud of you and grateful for your sharing.

    Enjoyed your video immensely. I particularly liked the later part of your video as you went into the range component of your test results. After watching your video I took a second look at my results. I didn't know that AncestryDNA suggests that the range portion of our results actually projects a much stronger and higher genetic regional match inference than the average percentages listed. As an American descendant of slaves who were brought to the Carolinas to work the Indigo, Rice, Tobacco, and Cotton plantations, my results fit well with historical documented narrative of Slave Disembarkation dispersal records. I love when DNA, Documented History, and Documented Family Genealogy align. Thanks for your video!

      +Michael Williams Thank you so much!!! And yes, i havent seen anyone else on youtube speak about the range, which i feel is a very important part of the test!!! the average percentages are not as accurate as the range. the range has a higher accuracy than the average. How long ago did you receive your results?

    • @mynativewomb11
      @mynativewomb11 9 лет назад

      headchampion A year ago. I've tested with quite a few commercial DNA Testing companies and I found that all of the test results were consistent. Part of my family's collective memory is that our heritage is tied to the French West Indies in Martinique and theirs an ancestral connection to the Bayou Country in Southwestern corner of Louisiana too. When AncestryDNA showed me that upwards of about 28% of my African DNA derives from the region presently known as Benin today I became intrigued. I have a book about the direct slave trade from Benin's slave port known as Whydah (Ouidah) to Martinique and Haiti titled 'The Diligent' by Robert Harms. I also know that Louisiana also received a good portion of Africans from the Benin/Nigeria area as well.

    You are a product of the Americas. Every bit of your DNA makes perfect sense. The Moors ( Muslims of Middle Eastern and North African ancestry ) ruled Spain for 800 years. The Jews, Spanish Christians and Middle Eastern and Spanish Muslims lived in harmony for the majority of that time. The exodus of people out of the Iberian Peninsula, was in small part due to the increase in exploration in the region but it's also likely (due to your ancestry), that these people were chased out due to the Spanish Inquisition.

    Great results...very interesting. I'm a Ghanaian woman btw. The reason why they list Benin/Togo and IvoryCoast/Ghana is due to how French and British colonialism/slavery divided African Kingdoms along the Gulf of Guinea (Atlantic Ocean or West African Coast) into tiny nations, in order to easily conquer our Ancestors. There are regions in IvoryCoast where Ghanaian tribal languages are spoken, complete with similar diets/cultural observances and vice versa.

    Thanks for sharing your results with us. I ran across this earlier today. It's based on a study of Puerto Rico, which we know has a similar history to the D.R. and it shows scarily how both stories can really be true. One story being that the Tainos were killed off and the other that the Taino lines continued on. Makes sense when you consider that most of the ships coming from Spain were initially all men. voices.nationalgeographic.com/2014/07/25/genographic-project-dna-results-reveal-details-of-puerto-rican-history/

      +davis2022 Also, puerto ricans (IN GENERAL) for some reason manage to have substantially more Taino DNA than dominicans. idk if in puerto rico the spaniards killed less or impregnated more taino women...but puerto ricans (IN GENERAL) tend to have more european and more taino but less african than dominicans....and i am just speaking in general..i know that is not true for all

I also figure if you keep only inheriting 50/50 of your parents genes each time ...what else perhaps can these tests not tell

    All in all, you're a true bloodline descendant of the Biblical Hebrew/Israelites. Most people don't realize that Blacks once ruled Europe, and the first inhabitants of Asia were BLACK people. Black skinned people weren't ONLY excluded to the African continent.

    • @michaelangelotaylor8th
      @michaelangelotaylor8th 8 лет назад +2

      Black Americans(North and South and of the Caribbean Islands) are the true bloodline descendant of the Biblical Hebrew/Israelites...our ancestors fled the land of Israel(77AD)from Roman persecution, due to the curse that God/Yah placed on them(Deuteronomy 28) if they became disobedient and rebellious against HIM. They fled Israel to (modern day) NE Africa, (modern day NE Africa, because Israel and the entire "Middle East" at one time was well-known to be apart of the African continent, BEFORE Europeans started tampering with history and geography). where they encountered the Arabian Slave Trade(which is also when Black-skinned Egypt started to become a Brown-skinned Egypt(Arabs). Our ancestors then fled to West Africa, where they remained MANY years until they encountered the Trans Atlantic Slave Trade. All those that had a hand in enslaving our people(including certain Africans that assisted) were well aware of the fact that they were enslaving Hebrews. They were already tribes of Hebrews(Blacks/Africans) in the Americas even before the Slave Trade, they were classified as Indians as well...our history is SO MUCH deeper than most would even imagine! It's not just "talking points" to say that we come from royalty. We DO come from a lineage of Kings and Queens, we were the Chosen People of God/Yah. The search on Ancestory.com only scratched the surface to what you can discover about your ancestory bloodline...

Even I was told some type of native American at some point but I never believed it for a second, I was extremely happy with my results, 94% African!

And i have one brother from both parents and he is light skinned like me, maybe a shade or two darker cuz he is outside more, with my same type of hair but cut low and he has side burn beard thing going on. Both of my parents are "light skinned", with my dad being the darker of the two tho, he is like caramel/red complected with hazel eyes and kinky afro hair, and my mom being high (darker than me tho) yellow with wavy/straight hair and dark brown eyes. So i came out on the lighter side like my mother,but with kinky hair from my dad side. I know that 45% african comes from both of them but for sure more from my dads side than my mothers.

      +headchampion ohh ok, it makes sence now. genetics can be a recombination thing in regards to color, my brother is more browner skinned than me yet he pretty much has the same DNA percentages as i do. I came out olive skinned due to the fact that my father is also light skinned, closer to swarthy med and not nordid, however we both have the similar facial features. Your hair is very kinky afro, that trait is undoutebly sub saharan and overall you're very mixed. I would recommend 23andme just to see if your interested in seeing your maternal and paternal haplogroups. Both companies are good although 23andme has more features for you to play with. I like ancestry dna too simply because it can break down your african regions.

    • @OriginalMaster16
      @OriginalMaster16  9 лет назад +9

      Yes!!! My hair is afro textured. I love it now tho! when i was a kid, i didnt. The reason im growing it out is as an acceptance and embracing of my african heritage. And yes i am planning on doing the 23andme one of these days because i am interested in the halo groups as well. I played around with gedmatch.com as well and that was very fun and interesting, but a little confusing. and yea the reason i like ancestry is cuz they break down the african regions and that was very important for me

    Black color is the most dominant. It takes centuries for the dark skin to shade.And there's tons of pale Dominicans who are mixed aswell as dark skinned Dominicans who are mixed
    .Modern Dominicans are mixed, but during the 1800s Dominicans were white and the only blacks were the slaves but everything change really fast when Dominicans started mixing with their slaves.By the mids 1800s every Dominicans was either white or free people of color (criollo)..The first settlements in Dominican Republic were White and most of them stay to D.R to raise their childrens and their family for generetions and generetions.And they were responsible for shaping up D.R and being involved with our independence and revolution.Unlike U.S.A ,Dominicans free their slave earlier and didn't have an Issue with the people of color.This is why now most Dominicans are mixed and come in all shades and every color.And Dominicans can look like their ancestors,typical Italian or Spaniard depending on what region you from.Today day there are some brainwashed Dominicans that are being taught to hate or deny their white ancestors when instead they should be glad and proud of their white ancestors.If it wasn't for our white ancestors Dominican Republic would have never gained independence and would be in miseries rn.First Government of D.R were white aswell as most of our heroes and individuals who help D.R rise.And once again yes also Criollo people were involved in the movement aswell but my whole point is to not stop embracing your white ancestors neither your black ancestors of course but to regconize our ancestors bravery and courage for what they have done to our beautiful

    I always find the reaction from those in the Latinx community when they find out they are part Sub-Saharan African very interesting, particularly Dominicans. The only question is, does it change how they look at themselves and those who identify with their African ancestry i. e. Haitians.

    • @OriginalMaster16

      I’m not latinX. I don’t identify with that word. Before I took this test years ago, I knew I had African ancestry, I just wanted to know how much percentage I had. So that’s not what i was surprised about. And I identified as black before the test and I identify as black after the test.

    • @OriginalMaster16
      @OriginalMaster16  9 лет назад +1

      +Leonel Logrono The reason i am this light is cuz i stay out of the sun, but if i were to be in the sun, i could get brown skinned. But i did think my European was gona be more, cuz i dont come from a black parent and a white parent. Both of my parents are mixed and so are their parents and so are their parents, most dominicans are deeply mixed by hundreds of years. so im sure the 45% comes from both my parents and not just one of them. And yea i am happy as hell to finally know

      Actually the Majority of muslims in Spain were native Iberian converts to Islam mainly of Celtiberian,Hispano Romano, & Visigoth Origin.
      The Few Thousand foreign muslims who did settle in Iberia were mainly Moroccan Berbers
      & this has been demonstrated by Genetic testing in which the results show up as Africa
      North.
      Africa North results show up in Highest percentages in people from the Spanish Canary Islands who are of Native Guanche Origin...
      ranges for canary islanders is about 8-15%.

    • @andrevaldes8461
      @andrevaldes8461 8 лет назад

      Headchampion North African
      Berbers are definitely related somewhat to Western Asians because Berbers came from the middle east about 7000-5000 years ago so yes they do share DNA but North Africans are mainly Haplogroup E1b1b while West Asians aka Middle Eastern folk are mainly Haplogroup J1.
      Europeans came from the Middle East about 45,000 years ago.
      Spain France UK Ireland are the most closely related Western Europeans & all 4 nations are between 60-80 % Haplogroup R1b
      Which is the majority Haplogroup of all Western Europe.

    Not sure if anyone else has commented on this but your Malian & Africa North, combined with your West Asian heritage suggests at least some of your Hispanic ancestors were Moriscos. These were former Arabic Moors who converted (nominally) to Christianity in the 1500's but then fled to Spain's colonies to avoid the attentions of the Inquisition.
