    The diaphragm is the centre of all vocalist's power, clean or metal. As Katie said, it will still take time and practice for you to learn how to scream without hurting your throat. When you Do hurt your throat (it happens to us all) please take the time to rest and let it heal properly before trying again, & learn from your mistakes.

    • @Aestareth_
      @Aestareth_ Год назад +26

      yeah when your throat is sore (it will happen) don't force it. i practiced hours everyday as a teen and on top of making 0 progress, it took months to get back to normal after stopping

    • @undeadsentenal8093
      @undeadsentenal8093 Год назад +6

    • @UmamiDeBoi
      @UmamiDeBoi 10 месяцев назад +3

      Yeah as a teenager i felt confused and lost whenever I tried to do it, and then when I tried to take it a little more seriously, I started trying vocal warmups before screaming. That helped a little, but it still was inconsistent and never felt like I *got* it.
      Then, a few years ago I decided to just do vocal warmups every day, regardless of if i was gonna scream. And *that* was what reeeeeally helped me improve and understand my voice. Doing warmups, focusing on breath support and having no tension in my throat, and focusing on screaming fundamental techniques like basic false cord and basic fry scream all helped my voice immensely. My singing and screaming today compared to just a few years ago is like, night and day.
      And honestly, it’s WAY more fun now 😂 Singing and screaming has always been enjoyable and releases dopamine or whatever, but screaming along to a song with deliberate technique and thought is so much more gratifying than just winging it and wearing out your voice in one song.

    • @megaman7799
      @megaman7799 8 месяцев назад +14

      It's not something you'll get instantly. The hard sigh is the basic idea, but you'll still need to control mechanisms in your throat to shape the sound. I've only just figured out a basic scream 1 year into learning and I still have a *long* way to go so don't give up! Don't be afraid to experiment, but also don't hurt yourself.

    The scream techniques are quite similar to Mongolian throat singing techniques. From my point of view throat singing techniques are more complex, since there are different styles of throat singing and different styles of so called "whistles". Overall both techniques focus on the right breathing and positioning of both tonque, and vocalis muscles.

You can kinda imitate the tone of Alex Terrible's growls by lifting the back of your tongue and sticking the front to the bottom of the mouth. Basically, a tongue-sledge

    Something to keep in mind, drink water, grab a cough drop, youre probably gonna fuck up. Its gonna hurt, and you're gonna have to accept that. People always say that you dont have to go through the pain in practice sessions to get it right. And they're right! Theoretically you could avoid the pain and do it slowly and surely, but there's a fat chance of that happening even when you know how you're voice works and what to look for. You're not used to the compression and that's ok. Just note when your voice starts to hurt, immediately stop, try again when your voice is in good shape. Repeat.

    I have been a vocalist for about 16 years now, and though I may have this technique (and others) refined and well-practiced, you managed to explain it qucker than I ever have and in a way that would be incredibly efficient for beginners. I'm going to start linking this video instead of trying to explain the human diaphragm in it's entirety.

    I tried for a bit my cat started meowing at me with a worried tone. I think she noticed my technique was not quite there and was worried I was hurting my throat

    Omg this is such a good explaination! I have had music teachers that go into the theory of how you're supposed to do stuff, but they tend to not go really deep into how it should feel in your muscles and everything. This really visualised it amazingly and made it a lot less intimidating to try.
    Though I am a mezzo-soprano, so i might struggle a little more with getting the lower vocals 😂
    If you got any tips or tricks on how to hit low notes easier, id love to hear it!
    Also, your model is so freaking badass! I love the design and how expressive it is with the hands being able to move as well.

    It really sounds as if you go from voice box growls to fry screams using compression. Impressive, I had to learn frys from scratch because I couldn't switch to them mentally after learning growls and epiclotis
