Sri Mukteshwar Mahadev Mukti Dham, the ancient Shiva temple - Lord Shankar and Mata Parvati ji lived together at this place after marriage. At this place, they did Yugal Tandav. After this, the power of both of them got absorbed in the earth. At that time Mata Parvati ji asked Lord Shiv what will be the significance of this place in the future. Lord Shiv said that if anybody will come to this place to ask forgiveness of sins, I will give him Salvation from sins. This place will be known in the future as the name of Mukti Dham and at this place, I will reside in three temples myself for the welfare of people. There is a Shivling in the form of Shiv Ji's head and hair locks, the second temple is in the form of eyes and the third temple is in the form of Shiv Ji's face.
This place is the Darbar of God Shankar and Mata Parvati. Here the prayers done by devotees get answered quickly. This place is also ancient from Duapar yuga. At that time this place was known as Mukti Matth. There were very beautiful ponds here, the remnant of these ponds are still visible.
