You guys might of heard the great news already, but just yesterday we we're declared "essential" and able to conduct business and get back to work! It's super exciting and we've had a flood of information today, and I tell you what, I'm incredibly thankful to be working hard come Monday!
I took advantage of the nicer weather today and did some last minute upgrades to the mower, including installing the new Exmark Tractus tires. These things weigh a ton, and a lot of folks who already run them seem to love em! I can't wait to put them through the grind and see how they hold up compared to pneumatic tires and see what the hype is all about.
The last thing we had to do was take off the bagger for the mower since in all reality, we aren't going to be doing many spring clean ups this week. The grass is just growing too much, and there's no way we can really double up the work load and get them all done. If we do get the opportunity to do a few, we can always use the Staris 52" and Accelerator Bagger and go from there!

Ares Socket Set: amzn.to/3cNbKjk
Just followed the link and purchased a set. Needed those yesterday! I didn't have a deep socket that size. Thanks Brian for the reminder to get some!
I went to a mill hauling a load of corn to butter balls not long ago... Seen a guy on a John Deere with twillz on such an angled slop I just knew he'd roll on... But she held steady slip just a tiny bit and running about a third open...
I would definitely put the tape measure to the blades to have the peace of mind on the cut height. The plus side those things have very little flex so tire pressure won’t affect the cut. Hopefully they work great for you.
They’re seriously a life saver, we’ve used them on the truck and trailer I don’t know how many times.
Brian's Lawn Maintenance congratulations!!! Better eat your Wheaties, I bet you have a lot of catching up to do. Stay safe!
We have the Tweels on our John Deere mowers going 12mph as we mow. They supposedly smoothen out the ride where pneumatic (air) tires would be bouncy. We also get the expensive suspension seats. We get anything we can to make our work not feel like work. ;-)
Air ride suspension seat?
We have a buddy who's back is fucked up and needs a new seat for our Deere
Brian... one of the big selling points of the Tweels is their ride softening ability. They flex and "give" a little more vertically which gives you some rear suspension over bumps (which Ferris does with springs and shocks on all four wheels). You can't run a heavy full bagger system because they would run in the swashed down condition all the time, thus lowering your rear of deck cut height more than you want, and it may be too much flexing wear on the Tweel webbing system, thus shortening their life.
My dad taught me this little trick when you put a wheel back on tighten the nuts in a star pattern for ex top, bottom, left, right
Yup that’s what we did/do. For editing/time sake, I just cut most of it out
Brian's Lawn Maintenance cool thanks for the like and comment
You got it or every other one
Absolutely. I was taught the same way.
We love the tweels, our one jd has tweels with 1670hrs on them! Occasionally run the bagger with them on, but wouldn’t recommend if your bagging several yards, if you’re just bagging one or so it’s ok, just don’t let your bagger get all the way full. Tweels will shred a ditch quicker then pneumatic because of the abrupt sidewall edge. They will hold hills better because there is no side roll. But if you get in mud there helpless! We run the bar tread on our other mowers which are good for hillsides ditches soft spots, wish the would make a tweel with chevron design! I think you’ll be impressed!
As Brandon said that's park brake 👍 love the tweels 👍
And I use a piece of 2x4 for the floor jack out further to edge of rear, but what y'all did works. Safe Season to all and thanks Brian for all the work getting us all this information 👍
One random tip for you guys, every time I have to take a wheel off I rotate with the other side. We all favor one side on every mower. Helps with more even wear on your tires. Love the idea of tweels but hate the cost! Maybe at some point though.
Good call
From a fellow Michigander, so glad your able to get back to work. Videos are helpful, stay safe and healthy.
Awesome it's great to see all you guys getting back into it. Stay safe and have fun God bless you all 👍
Heck ya man!
Glad to hear you are back at it!
Be smart and safe! 🏡🏡🏡
5:26 good reason to keep a 2ft piece of 2x4 laying around. Just put it on top of the jack, chock the front casters (invest in caster locks), and jack it from the rear frame edge.
I’m out by Michigan speedway and we’ve worked through March and April and yesterday was my first so called legal day of work, my town ship doesn’t identify with the governor, and docks were going in , lawns were getting fertilizer and spring cleaning
Alex Kuteron good for you!!! We have to ignore ridiculous government orders, they don’t care about us. They just sit around still getting paid by stealing our tax dollars.
Be Safe. Have fun. Happy you’re able to get out.
I am glad you back to work again... Glad you get promo from the company to test out.
The new tire look need. Got lawn company run the on John Deere for year and they run about 10 to 12 mowers.
Glad your back in the saddle. Hope you got everything on the Honey Do list done. Have a great Monday.
We run John Deere mowers with tweels. We were told they do less turf damage when doing turns. We added a toro mower to our fleet this year with regular tires, it actually does less turf damage with regular tires on it but the tweels definitely ride better
I am happy for you. Hope the season is awesome!!!
Wheels look so good, happy to see your business up & running, I do like the twheels!!!!!!!!!👍
When i get my stand on im putting these on there.... Thanks for sharing Sir!!
I'm proud of yall!!
#SALUTE
Glad she finally came to her senses I know we are going to be hard at it Monday morning thanks for the great videos from AA Lawn Maintenance
That’s awesome news Brian. Always glad to see your attitude never changes even when the things are against you.
Wooohooo! Back at it! Glad Gretchen Finally came through!
Check out “torque sticks”. You attach between torque gun and the socket and they limit the lb/ft applied. Handy for wheels and blades to have everything tightened to spec
Love the energy! You're definitely more up beat!... ITS GO TIME BABY!!
Happy to hear the good news, Brian! Looking forward to seeing what a great season lies ahead.
Great video Brian, great to hear that you are essential! All the prayers worked 👍!
Thank God you guys are able to work again, your Governor is crazy...may God continue blessing all of us! Big hug from Carlos Silva and family from Silver Spring, MD
With the certainty of never waking up & heading to garage at 7a. to find a mower with a flat tire makes those Tractus wheels very desirable in my opinion!! Great video Bud!! Glad you guys are off da bench & in da game!! Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!
Happy to hear it man down here in PA it’s been a essential the entire time thankfully Michigan finally got their butt in gear a little but God but it’s a great day And go make that money.
When you engage the brake handle the brakes are applied on the rotor!
Glad you all can go back to work
Good feeling ,getting ready!
It was a long wait to hunker down Brian, but as a fellow Michigander it was heartening to hear your positivity during a tough and dark time.
Happy yall back working. Been praying for you and Liz. Let is no how the tires work. I heard you have to be extra careful turning because the lip of the tire taring grass with it having no round edge.
Good to see you will be back at it. I would like to see hows those tweelz preform on a lawn that's pretty wet or a little soft compared to air tiers they seem like they would get more traction and the ride would be smoother
glad to hear you are back in business. does anyone know what causes grass to be very thin the lawn is not patchy it does get half sun and half shade? I live in ct the lawn does get areated each year.
Welcome back to the team, waters warm jump on in.
I'm glad you guys get to work now I know it's been tough 🙏🙏
Glad y’all can start cutting again !!!!! I bet your clients are happy also .
Finally get to work here in Colorado we were deemed essential from the start hope it all get better
Good to hear you can get back to work! These tires seem to be newest gimmick.
Libertad!!! Libertad!!! Libertad!!! Freedom!!! Finally. So happy for all you guys!!! Go crush it guys!!!💪💪💪
I’m so happy that you are back!
Congrats Brian! Can't wait to start seeing the mowing videos again! Go kill it!
One thing to watch out for with those is on side hills. Since they have no sidewall they tend to dig into the grass and leave a big line if it’s steep enough
FINALLY!!! Get to it, you got this!
JD Zero Turn here. Wishing I could get the tweet but it’s so hard to replace tires that are not bad. Enjoy them!
Hey Brian that brake caliper is probably part of your parking brake system. Also awesome video, so glad that you are able to go back to work!
I’m extremely happy for you
Its the Damn front tires give me the most grief !! Thanks for all the great vids
You should make a video showing where the hydraulic levers are so you can push the mower wish i would have known when are ignition switch gave out or when i got stuck in mud for the first time
That’s great you can start cutting! Interested to see how the new tires work out
Congratulations brother happy ya'll are working again now get out there and kick some grass haha
I think they need to apologize for the crap they said
Those tweels look straight up beautiful on there
Wondering if the added weight of the tweels affects fuel consumption🤔 The contact patch looks to be better with the tweels.
It's about time we get to mow! Let's get it..
The company i work for has 4 John Deere mowers with tweets i have noticed that there is more surface area on the ground so you don’t get stuck as easily and not as many ruts
Was soooo great to be out cutting today!!!!! Back to work!!!!
Hey Brian my mower sounded the same as yours, have your guys check your valve for adjustment, and tighten them on lazer. It only took them like 2hrs.
Will do!
Great Video. Thanks
here they are also good on hills
Only problems I have heard of is them getting filled with mud. Guess it depends on your application. Looking forward to seeing how it works for you!
Them brakes what make in cut left to right works like cutting clutches. On a Dozer
I live in New Jersey I started cutting back in the beginning of March never was a problem here .
We run tweels on our JD stand-on and our traditional zero turn. JDs claim to fame I think is it helps with the ride, less turf damage, and obviously airless. I’ve noticed when running on wet grass the tweels tend to slip a little and it’s easier to accidentally do damage. Other than that we will always spend the little extra money and get the tweels
I think those brake calipers might be your emergency brakes
Ya, thats the parking brake
Michigan governor, power and politics. Thank God you all are finally getting back to work in some sectors. You’re right they have incomes, and have no idea how hard it has been for many a good Americans that were forced out of work. God Bless America.
Hi Brian! “Free at last! Let’s go boys!!” If it doesn’t rain, you Michigan boys will have to do cleanups 24/7! Keep safe out there, don’t be into much of a hurry! 😎 Sincerely, Sam Hanson 👍😏🇺🇸
Chute blockers are totally worth the money!
That is the disc for the parking brake you pull up on under your lap when you stop
Hey Brian, glad you are back at it. Those tweels look nice. You mentioned marketing and handing out flyers. Was wondering if you could do a video of you going out to neighborhoods and handing them out. Us new guys can hear what you say, how you approach them, how you select who you give them too. Thanks again for the videos.
We’ve done a video titled passing out flyers. It’s old but it’s relevant. I’ll be doing a new video on SendJim here soon probably though. I’ll see what I can do for you still
Once I need new tires in going to buy these depending how they work. Hope you do a review video about them
It would be interesting to see how the extra weight performs on hills, I’ve never been impressed with mid mount ztr’s going down hill and trying to turn or stop.
Yeah good call
That's Gold 👍 in the Palm...Google...thats gold NRL 😅
Nice Video again mate 🙌
Welcome to the essential club! Haha not that y'all weren't already.
Aside from the potential of rutting etc...have you noticed additional engine strain or decreased fuel economy from the added weight?
Good stuff. We tried tweels for a season but went back to refular tires BC the tweels were terrible when it was wet and got stuck very easily. Also be careful on slopes if the ground is soft bc they will cut into the turf. Other than that they were nice.
Good to know! Thx bro
@@BriansLawnMaintenance they look awesome tho. Like the way exmark incorporated the rim on there. Looks sweet. X mark may have made some changes from the deere ones so who knows. Good luck this season.
Let's go exmark! Send me some cool crap haha. Looks good
Wheels look awesome man
Looks like when you changed the tires , it all most looks like you could move the wheel motors back , because there was another set of holes.
"Free at last...!!!" Lol. Awesome!
Matt Pahuta 🙌🙌
Do a follow up on the tires, do they help with softening of the bumps on a bumpy lawn?
Great topic and idea. Will do ty for the suggestion!
11:48 DEFINITELY need to level the deck after switching to tweels. I love eXmark... but the cut quality is pretty sensitive to deck level.
I see you are back at the Hollywood studio😂😂So glad you are back to work.Be careful passing out flyers cov 19 is still an issues as you know.
The green screen has turned into a green screen sound stage!!!!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance , I love it Bee 🐝👍🏿
I don’t run the tires but I would imagine that they wouldn’t run up the lawns because the surface area is larger per square inch how they engineered them and traditional tire normally has a convex I think is the right word from the air so it puts more pressure on the middle of the tire
That all depends on the air in the tires also
Hey Brian I don't know if it's just the sound on the video but have you had your valves adjusted on that mower or it might just be what Kawasaki knock
I wonder with the heavier wheel over time it will cause more wear on the hydro’s. That would be my only concern. Other than that they look cool and love the fact no flats! Also just listening to your engine running sounds like she got alittle ticking. Maybe time to have the valves adjusted?
We’ll have to check it out. That’s how she always sounds but good ear!
Brian's Lawn Maintenance I think the camera picks it up even better than in person.
Re torque the wheels after some mowing. Bolts loosen up sometimes. Hows that battery impact doing? I been thinking about picking one up and ditching the air tools.
It’s one of my favorite tools for sure. I beat the snot out of it, still runs great
Nice, im gonna be ordering one. Battery hand tools are the way to go now. Dont have patience for cords or air lines anymore 😂😂
I would be curious how much extra gas and strain on the motor and drivetrain to turn those things. Those lightweight air filled tires might be prone to flats but better all around for everything else.
Same thoughts, more stress on everything, I guess if you do city work and get a bunch of flats. It would be a given
That’s your parking break for the parking lever
Those are sweet!!
I know you have been doing this for a long time and know what you're doing but just my opinion, your going to wish you had the bagger set up on for a few lawns. For the first week anyway. Congrats on getting back to it!
Probably not, but thanks!
Go get after it!
Great to see ya all back to work finally. Our Gov still is under lockdown. If our Gov doesnt come to his senses by May 4 I dont care anymore I am going out!
What state? Yikes
We have 3 crews and demoed a bunch is JD with tweels. Good for commercial lawns but we treat all our yards and they really tear up the yards. They grip too much. Sent all the JD back and renews our fleet deal with exmark. They might be fine with an owner/operator but it they didn’t work that great for us.
FINALLY. LETS GO DO THIS
Engine sound just echo from storage area... camera microphone picking it all up.
I put an OCD on my lazer Z a few years ago and it is definitly worth it
Great vid. Like always hey I was wondering how the cut height is going to be with the change. Is there going to be any difference between the two tires
I've been taught since I was 9 or 10 mower will be more efficient with a mower deck pitched slightly higher in the rear than the front. The science behind it is, if the blades are level, you will actually reduce the engine power because the blades are dragging on the grass and thus working the engine harder to do the same amount of work.
I need an update on the tweels, does not the tread pattern wear out at the same rate as air filled tires? if not why not ?
Sure hang tight buddy
I can get a regular 24x12x12 for less than 100 bux. If the tweel is 600 a piece, that is outrageous. But I can see the benefit of no downtime if you are running a huge business and can't afford a breakdown
One flat tire can cost you 1-2 hours depending. And if the puncture is on the sidewall, the tire could be toast ($250). So I guess if you play out a couple worst case scenarios over the life of a regular tire, like downtime and irreparable, they make sense. We’ll update as we go and keep you guys posted on em!
