  • With gratitude and reverence to my beloved teacher, Luang Por Sumedho. 🙏🙏🙏
These direct and clear pointers to the Deathless have been extracted from various Dhamma talks given by Ajahn Sumedho.
Ajahn Sumedho (born Robert Karr Jackman, July 27, 1934) is an American Buddhist monk and one of the senior Western representatives of the Thai forest tradition of Theravada Buddhism. He was abbot of Amaravati Buddhist Monastery, UK, from 1984 until his retirement in 2010. A bhikkhu since 1967, Sumedho is considered a seminal figure in the transmission of the Buddha's teachings to the West.

Been listening to Ajhan Sumedho the last couple of months. Very clear and direct teaching. Also read his book on the 4 Noble Truths which really helped with my meditation practice. I’ve been listening since the fires of 2019 trying to establish a practice while dealing with quite severe emotional issues but I think I’m starting to get close to trusting in the awareness. I love the phrase “The Gate to the deathless is open”. Such a hopeful statement from a man who has really struggled in his own life and worked so tirelessly to bring the Dhamma to the world. Very very grateful for this channel and the work you do. Look forward to the live stream on Monday. Many blessings ❤🙏🏻

I recently had the opportunity to listen in person to a few dhamma talks by Ajahn Sumedho at the monastery in Temple, NH. I really didn't know that much about him until I came across your first recording in this channel, and I thank you! To say that I am grateful for being exposed to this wise man is an understatement. His s talks were pure gold, his words went straight to my heart, the energy in the place was amazing, and I felt a great sense of peace that I don't come come across often, it was very special. I also enjoyed his child like smile, I was very fortunate to be in the presence of this being🙏🕉🙏

Very different etymologies, spellings, and languages. Saddham in this context is taken from the root word saddhā: which means faith in the Pali language. Saddam is derived from the Arabic language.
