My best hole I have ever played was the 18th on the Old course. I was like 16 years old and birdied the last hole with like 100 people watching. I still get a adrenaline rush just thinking about it.
What a place. I've just come back from a few days up there with the family. I've been umpteen times since 1990 and absolutely love it. Leaving always feels like having a limb torn off. It's the finest place on earth. Bar none.
Pleased for you Pete, but it is not perfect without a little wind to get the true experience! You will never forget your first time! Think real golf fans will love the fact that you go to the town for all the history. Think you captured the real spirit of ST Andrews, well done and thanks
Enjoyed meeting yourself and Ally at the first Tee, as you said the East coast of Scotland has an abundance of great courses nearly every town has a golf course in the area and as a local resident of Fife I’m spoiled for choice... Your welcome back across the border anytime..lol...Stuart
I've played the Old Course three times now and it is a total experience. It's _NOT_ a hard golf course, compared to The Jubilee, The New or The Castle (those three listed in descending order of difficulty and my personal preference.) I've shot my best 2 rounds ever playing the Old Course. +5 and +3. And that latter one, I treble bogeyed the 13th, so I was level par for the other 17 holes! The fairways are effectively enormous and they are like carpet. But it's the history of the place that grabs you. It doesn't matter that it's not the hardest, it's the most iconic and playing it is simply one of the best moments of my 30+ years of playing golf!
At Andrew's is one special place. My best mate and now wife were at st Andrews uni so I got the pleasure of being around the place a lot years ago. Even if you don't like golf it still feels very special but the first time I played the old course I was like you....like a kid in a sweet shop
Oh I am so happy watching this!! Last year I was able to tick it off the list and played with a local which made it that much more enjoyable and such a great time! I have a smile ear to ear watching this!
That was great! A dream to play the old course, but for me.. its across a rather large pond! 5 hrs to get home is just a walk in the park here in Texas.. yours and Rick's videos are great.
Hi Pete, me and some friends played it 2 years ago. Like you we were awake at 3.00 am because of the excitement..we teed off at 7.00am in perfect conditions...its just and awesome place to go ...we will return .
Brings back memories! Attended St Andrews uni from 1992-1997; lived on Golf Place; and played too much golf! Agree with others that the New is harder, and the Jubilee is great if only they spent the money on maintenance. I miss walking down to the Old course starter on a windy November morning before lectures and just "playing away". Thanks for bringing those memories back Pete!
I’m excited for you Pete, but for selfish reasons. This is the closest I think I may ever get to some of these iconic places (I’m in Washington state) thanks so much for the coverage/exposure!!! Great stuff!!!
I played day after. Sunny, not so much windy, nice caddy. I played 78 with 9.5 HCP. So big improve after winter changing all by your video set during winter ... take away, top of the swing, golf backswing, really help me check all part a lot more that personal trainer. Really good job Peter. So I enjoy Old Course with some spirit a lot.
In my eyes, the greatest course in the world. There aren’t too many courses that make you feel like St. Andrews does. I’ve been lucky enough to play it but even just going for a walk around the course is an amazing experience. Should be #1 on the bucket list for all golfers!
I have to agree Pete, having stayed in The East Neuk Of Fife all my life we are spoilt for choice when it comes to golf courses, if your a golfer no where else feels like home, glad you enjoyed St Andrews.
I was there about a year ago on a Sunday and it's basically a park and I got to walk the whole course. It would've been great to play, but the experience of just being there was amazing.
Looks like you had an amazing time. And you have managed to cover a good bit of the east coast of Scotland there. you’ll just have to get up to the west coast get some of those courses vlogged.
I have been there more than 20 years ago. Didn’t play the Old Couse. I should have booked a tee time one year before my visit! Really enjoyed my visit anyway.
Peter Finch Golf And so we did. We wandered around the course, we ate a clubhouse sandwich with spicy potato wedges, we visited the many golf shops and stayed in a B&B in St. Andrews. So we really soaked up the atmosphere from the Home of Golf. It’s something I will never ever forget.
Wow Pete! What a year so far! First, the guy get’s engaged and get’s a new member to the family in a new puppy. Get’s a Adidas sponsorship. Goes to Augusta and witnesses the Masters. Then goes and plays the old course at St. Andrew’s. What’s next bud? Playing A round at Pebble Beach followed up by an Ace at the 17th hole at TPC Sawgrass! Keep up the momentum buddy!
In different places around the course, there are these small stone monuments that looked like tombstones. I asked my caddie if people were buried around the course and he told me they were actually markers that, hundreds of years ago, marked the boundary of the golf course against the grazing lands the local shepherds used for their sheep!
Awesome video, can't wait to check out some of the course vlog. Gotta play there before it is all said and done. It should be on every golfers bucket list.
St Andrews is such a lovely place to visit and a great fish and chip restaurant and not forgetting Eden mill gin & whiskey distillery a 5 minute drive from the old course 😁
That was a fantastic taster / teaser for the main St Andrews vlog.; can't wait for it to drop Have to agree, St Andrews itself is super town to visit. Living in Fife as I do, I have visited it a lot and it is mint. Cheers
So happy for you Peter. You looked like a kid in a candy shop. No better place to be I am sure. The Mecca of Golf. Looking forward to hearing more about it. Cheers!
Well the past few weeks have made quiiiiite a dent in the old golf bucket list eh? First, going to Augusta for the Masters (w/ Tiger in it) and now vlogging it up in the home of golf! Not bad Mr Finch. Not too bad at all.
Links.... what more can be said. I play on the west coast of Cumbria near Carlisle..... well 40 miles but worth the drive. Great video. My dream is to play The Old Course. Goosebumps.
Lucky boy, what a life! So jealous. You also got very lucky with the weather. It was chucking it down in Glasgow at times yesterday. Two Glaswegians got picked to play? I'm even more gutted. Looking forward to seeing the full vlog, you're teasing us there with wee snippets. By the way, the Duke's course is also worth a visit. Happy golfing!
Yup, the last time I was there is was windy but glorious until the 10th then is was torrential rain for the rest of the round. Managed a 2 at the 11th though with a gale off my left and horizontal rain. I heard that Bobby Jones once tore his card up after loads of shots in the front bunker there, in the Open! Thanks for the reply. 👍
Very jealous. I'm hoping to play the Eden course next year fingers crossed. We were meant to be playing back in March but the snow hit and couldn't get up!
Coolest/ most creative intro yet! Loved the opening of the shades thing and then into the drone footage! Sometime lil things make the videos the best lol
Great vlog 👏👏👏 Visited St Andrews myself for the first time last October (didn’t play) and was amazed at just how beautiful it all is. Will def be visiting again and hopefully will get to play The Old Course (on my bucket list)
I've been playing this silly game for more than 45 years. I'm not sure I could hit the ball properly on the first tee of The Old Course, if I ever got the chance. I am terribly envious, Mr Finch!
I couldn't enter the competition because I had to clean an oven for a house sale. Kingsbarns just 10 minutes down the road from there is my favourite course on the Dunhill Links circuit.
Very nice video especially for also showing just a little bit (I would have like a little more) of the town, the history and the surrounding area next to the golf course. Maybe next time ;)
Nice video Pete, I would love to see a challenge on the old course with club pro's using the golf clubs that old Tom Morris used. That would make a good video on your channel at some stage.
Peter Finch Golf and we got it!! Of course we did not have rain pants. So, needless to say, we were completely soaked from waste down. Thankfully, we had rain jackets
I am living my life vicariously thru Peter finch's youtube videos.
SeanSauceTV haha I agree 👍
Aren't we all.
My best hole I have ever played was the 18th on the Old course. I was like 16 years old and birdied the last hole with like 100 people watching. I still get a adrenaline rush just thinking about it.
Great stuff!
PrimeBoy I would’ve tripled bogeyed with 100 people watching
I admire your gratitude, Pete. So important and refreshing.
Oh I am thankful every day!!
What a place. I've just come back from a few days up there with the family. I've been umpteen times since 1990 and absolutely love it. Leaving always feels like having a limb torn off. It's the finest place on earth. Bar none.

Thanks Chris, yes didnt mind the wind too much, could have been a lot worse!!!
Enjoyed meeting yourself and Ally at the first Tee, as you said the East coast of Scotland has an abundance of great courses nearly every town has a golf course in the area and as a local resident of Fife I’m spoiled for choice... Your welcome back across the border anytime..lol...Stuart
You too bud, cant wait to get back up there

Mine too :) well, maybe not quite 30 years!!
Production values are amazing for a golfer doing videos, only a certain bespectacled southern chappy can be compared. Bravo Mr F!
Thanks Brian
At Andrew's is one special place. My best mate and now wife were at st Andrews uni so I got the pleasure of being around the place a lot years ago. Even if you don't like golf it still feels very special but the first time I played the old course I was like you....like a kid in a sweet shop
Who could have given this a thumbs down? Peter's genuine awe of the course and town shone through. Enjoyed that immensely.
Lol who ARE these people lol
Oh I am so happy watching this!! Last year I was able to tick it off the list and played with a local which made it that much more enjoyable and such a great time! I have a smile ear to ear watching this!
Brilliant :D

Wow what a place to study, you lucky devil!
I’m excited for you Pete, but for selfish reasons. This is the closest I think I may ever get to some of these iconic places (I’m in Washington state) thanks so much for the coverage/exposure!!! Great stuff!!!
Lots more coverage to come, vlogs just around the corner
What lovely golfswings all have ... I'm impressed!!
:)
I played day after. Sunny, not so much windy, nice caddy. I played 78 with 9.5 HCP. Brilliant start to the season Igor :)
My one of greatest memory was a friend of mine drilled a 40ft for birdie on 18 and the people around the green clapping.. we still reminisce now 👍🏻
Aaaaaaawesome!!
In my eyes, the greatest course in the world. There aren’t too many courses that make you feel like St. Andrews does. I’ve been lucky enough to play it but even just going for a walk around the course is an amazing experience. Should be #1 on the bucket list for all golfers!
Agree, its an awesome place :)
Glad you guys got a great day for it. The old lady was looking fantastic. Up to play the Fairmont with the guys from Liberton GC in September.
We we pretty lucky with the weather
I have to agree Pete, having stayed in The East Neuk Of Fife all my life we are spoilt for choice when it comes to golf courses, if your a golfer no where else feels like home, glad you enjoyed St Andrews.
Cheers Bryce
I teared up teeing off on number one and again on the walk up 18! And completely agree that St.Andrews is an amazing town!
I hear that brother
I remember talking to you years ago about playing the Old course, well you finally got there so glad you enjoyed it.It really is a special place....

No worries :)
The winter deal is one of golfs hidden gems. Played there 3 times and looking forward to it again at the end of this year.

Broke the Internet with this one Pete! The Old Course looks unbelievable!
Ha move over Kim K
I was there about a year ago on a Sunday and it's basically a park and I got to walk the whole course. It would've been great to play, but the experience of just being there was amazing.
You can literally have just a good a time without playing, the place is amazing
OK, you got the immediate like with that first curtain-opening move. Nice shot! :-)

:)
Glad to see you visited one of those infamous bunkers ... a true St Andrews experience! So pleased for you - that is such a wonderful place to play
The bunkers got me!
Peter Finch Golf Glad to hear it. I hit the trifecta of Coffin, Hell and Road bunkers there and loved every one of them!!
Great Fun! Thanks for sharing. I remember tee-ing off #1 TOC, heart pounding so much fun!
I know, pretty intense!!
Played the Old Course in December last year, was awesome weather in the middle of Winter and as an Aussie the experience didn't come much better!
Wow, lucky
editing in the beginning of the video was absolutely on point, so cool to see how far Finchy's videos have come
Even I agree theyve come a pretty long way!

Im working on Augusta haha
In different places around the course, there are these small stone monuments that looked like tombstones. I asked my caddie if people were buried around the course and he told me they were actually markers that, hundreds of years ago, marked the boundary of the golf course against the grazing lands the local shepherds used for their sheep!
Ali`s swing is so natural. Unreal stuff Pete!!
:)
Awesome video, can't wait to check out some of the course vlog. Gotta play there before it is all said and done. It should be on every golfers bucket list.

I know, reckon we go so lucky with the weather, think that place has its own little microclimate
Yup, the last time I was there is was windy but glorious until the 10th then is was torrential rain for the rest of the round. Superb and thanks for the tour of the town at the end. Sad to hear that the 'Old Tom Morris' shop has been rebranded hope no one goes in now!
Lol boycott
Was there last week looking at the University. Fair to say the courses in the area is a big pull factor!
Do it. Ok I cant give advice on unis, but where is better than this?!?!
Very jealous. I'm hoping to play the Eden course next year fingers crossed. We were meant to be playing back in March but the snow hit and couldn't get up!
Damn this British weather!!
Coolest/ most creative intro yet! Loved the opening of the shades thing and then into the drone footage! Sometime lil things make the videos the best lol
:)
Great vlog 👏👏👏
Visited St Andrews myself for the first time last October (didn’t play) and was amazed at just how beautiful it all is. Will def be visiting again and hopefully will get to play The Old Course (on my bucket list)
You should try and get to play, its brilliant - keep an eye out for the vlogs
Peter Finch Golf it’s on my to do list and don’t worry I don’t miss a video you put up 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I've been playing this silly game for more than 45 years. I'm not sure I could hit the ball properly on the first tee of The Old Course, if I ever got the chance. I am terribly envious, Mr Finch!
It was a pretty nervous moment
Amazing vlog and a bucket list course for any golfer
Massive tick!!
For me St Andrews is similar to a lot of links courses with a loads of unique holes. Augusta is golf.
And all of them are awesome!
Your vids are getting better and better totally enjoyed that
Thanks Mark
love st andrews was up thier last year visting the town
The town is great too
I couldn't enter the competition because I had to clean an oven for a house sale. Kingsbarns just 10 minutes down the road from there is my favourite course on the Dunhill Links circuit.
Lol priorities
Very nice video especially for also showing just a little bit (I would have like a little more) of the town, the history and the surrounding area next to the golf course. Maybe next time ;)

No way, that guy carried my bag two years ago on the old course... I just happened to come across this video today.
Nice video Pete, I would love to see a challenge on the old course with club pro's using the golf clubs that old Tom Morris used. That would make a good video on your channel at some stage.
Good idea
Can't wait to see the vlogs pete mate. 😁
They will not disappoint
Great camera work in this vid!
Thanks alot Dave
Absolutely awesome wish I could go play there luck luck dog you
Struck lucky on this one :)
You're editing skills are through the roof!
Try getting a set of filters to help with some of those shots. The way they do on those tv shots.
Cheers Kevin, Ill look into it
A special place, always enjoy a visit here. History aside, think I prefer the New course.
It is special :)
Weeeee awesome Finchy!! I can’t wait to play in a few weeks myself!!

We played the new course, had rain, then cloudy, then sunny perfect weather, then straight up down pouring crazy windy storm. Lol
Haha, Ive been told its a given to expect every extreme!!
Peter Finch Golf and we got it!! Of course we did not have rain pants. So, needless to say, we were completely soaked from waste down. Thankfully, we had rain jackets
Peter Finch Golf if you are ever in the Nashville Tennessee area in the states, let me know. We've got some pretty decent courses around
Will do bud
