I’m personally a fan of bones and skulls as an art subject because they’re genuinely very pretty. Also Discworlds DEATH is the best portrayal of the grim reaper ever, fight me
Honestly, your videos genuinely keep my attention while I’m watching them. That’s a massive feat. This is great ^^ You’re super funny and I can’t wait to watch your channel grow!
In addition to the permanent grin, skeletons have bigger eyes and are much lankier when they don’t have all the organs around them. It gives them an naturally cartoonish and silly look, especially when they move around. The mediums where you could actually properly show a skeleton in motion didn’t come around until the turn of the 20th century, which is when depictions of skeletons got a lot sillier.
When I was younger, I had a huge phobia of skeletons. I memorized when in the Scooby-Doo theme song skulls came on screen so I could look away, it was that bad. I'm not sure when exactly that went away, because now I feel similarly about them as you described. This video made me reflect on my youth, and how time changes our outlooks... some of the scariest thoughts of all

Made a whole video when the real answer is “because funny bone”
I’m also surprised no one else has made any content on the topic, but your overview added some nice context
