My husband received a small table runner at a work Christmas party. He didn’t think much about it until I got really excited and told him how beautiful it was and what a special gift it was. He shared how much I loved her gift, she was pleased
Long time watcher but I rarely comment although I always watch all the way through and hit the like button. If there was a LOVE button I'd hit that for this Amazing table runner. As soon as I finished this video, it was off to my sewing room to gather scraps and attempt to make one. I am newer-ish to quilting and I make loads of "boo-boo's" but I am enjoying making quilts for family and some quilted household items! Thank you for this. I love how my table runner turned out!
@@AlaskaCraftyGalVictoria Thank you for this comment Victoria 😊 It made my day. I’m sitting in my studio with one on the design wall that Hazel designed and I sewed, I feel the same way you feel about yours 🍁🍂🍁👍🏼👍🏼😊♥️🍁🍂🍁🐥
Love the scrappy table runners, they are so colorful just like our fall trees. I am a new quilter so right now I am working on making a quilt for each of my daughters. I have been watching your channel for the past year learning the basics and the terms and picking up fabric I like. I finally started last week and I chose the pattern with half square triangles as I thought that would be the easiest…..WRONG thinking on my part . I just had to laugh and thought God has such a sense of humor 😂😂😂. I know you would have laughed with me. Those suckers have to match up when the points come together. Call me humble pie 😊 Hope you enjoy my little story.
True Donna, it’s all about squaring them up so they’re the same size. Here’s 2 videos that should help. Thanks for watching 👍🏼😊♥️🐥 ruclips.net/video/AkfY_1u1bi4/видео.htmlsi=_H-g--Pe2c5hB-8c ruclips.net/video/DNZLw5FIRwo/видео.htmlsi=uDZPNWvcZHjw1KQY
I used muslin for the bottoms of cushion covers that I made for cushions for my concrete picnic table seats. That way I didn't have to use up something pretty for something no one would ever see and I would not have to worry about setting them on dirty or dusty surfaces. I made pretty quilt tops to match the colorful broken tile on the benches and backed these with the muslin. Then I put a grey fabric on the sides (to mimic the concrete) with zippers (so they can be washed), and put the muslin on the bottoms. I love how they turned out!
I hope you don't mind that I'm spending my day with you :D I'm catching up on video I haven't seen yet. I think the algorithm will approve ;) Okay, un-pause video. Hazel is a treasure! "Cranky Quilter" Oh, grandma LOL
INLOVE YOUR VIDEOS. THIS ONE WAS ESPECIALLY FUN. I LOVE ALL THE TRICK AND TIPS THAT YOU SHARE. I AM JUST A BEGINNER, AND AM TRYING TO MAKE MORE QUILTS. SEEMS LIKE IT IS ALWAYS HARD TO FIND THE TIME. I NEED TO FIGURE OUT HOW TO MANAGE TIME BETTER. I FIND MYSELF SITTING AT YOU TUBE WATCHING ALL THE QUILTING VIDEOS INSTEAD OF GETTING IN AN MAKING ONE. I LOVE THE TABLE RUNNERS. THEY DO LOOK LIKE FALL. THE BACKGROUND FABRIC IS GREAT.
Thank you so much for watching my videos, Sharon. And welcome aboard the quilting train, but hang on. It’s a fast one. You’ll figure out your methods soon. Quilt on❣️ 😊♥️🐥
About the muslin block: When I was teaching elementary art (I sure do miss my kids) I told the students that sometimes their art just didn't work out, and that was ok. We said "thank you for what you taught me" to the piece and promptly dropped it in the trash! Your videos are always fun and educational!
I enjoy making smaller projects. I have been quilting for almost 40 years and have accumulated a lot of large quilts. I keep several for beds in my home but most are given away at Christmas. My daughters and grandchildren get to pick and choose for their friends and co workers each Thanksgiving after dinner and dishes are done. It has become a tradition in our family. I just love making the quilts and trying new patterns so to pass them along is fun for me.
That is a great tradition Cheryl! I like the "done dishes" part of it, LOL. Seriously, I love that you make them for your daughters to give away :) TFW!!!
This project is so fun! The table runners turned out so beautiful and perfect for fall! I appreciate the info about the cotton batting and dense quilting to help the runner lay flat. Thanks for sharing this great idea for fall!
I am really loving your process of choosing blocks and designing a project around the block! Can't wait to see the next block from one of your books! I love this block for sure! I'm looking at fall maple leaves in a whole new way.
I would have never thought of using that back ground but… it is so perfect it just sets off the Pretty fall colors. These are so beautiful. I am off to try these.❤
Boy, that “engineer” certainly did well!! He needs to tell my hubby what to buy!! I’ve found out what you mean about muslin! I thought it would be better than white, which it is, but it definitely made piecing the blocks, especially for a beginner! But I already have over 100 done!! 😂 I’ve toyed with sashing, and I really love how that looked! I may get a light color print fabric that hopefully matches the muslin. I used 2-1/2 JR strips for most of the leaves, but some I mixed up with different print squares.
They are adorable 🥰 I love them the table runner 👋 I am from Western Australia I enjoy watching your show you are so entertaining thank you I ❤️ fall cheers
A quilt. This is a cute little block. I just drew some on paper and colored them in shades of gold, olive, brown wine, purple, red, orange and brown. This is a fun block.
I just finished making quilted pumpkin placemats and am making the falling maple leaves for my table runner. I hadn't thought to go scrappy, but yours turned out so cute with the sashing that I am now wanting to go back to the fabric store for a bit more! (My husband won't be happy about that...until it is finished! lol)
Absolutely adorable table runners. Loved seeing your clients quilts. She is very talented. I’m sure her son will love his quilt. And your granddaughter Hazel is a winner. So glad you have her she’s a blessing.
I started the same blocks last week! I made three diff sizes and am adding sm ones together in one block and putting a strip around the medium size blocks, so all blocks will be the same size as the largest blocks. I am using Kona Silver as my background with scrappy bright Batiks, but each leaf is a color but scrappy, ei, green, yellow, gold, orange, red and brown. I may try one all scrappy color non-Batiks like yours! So pretty!
And I’m thinking how pretty yours must be while I’m reading your description about it. I love batiks. They’re so gorgeous. I bet the different size leaves are absolutely beautiful. Thanks for watching and for sharing what you’re doing.🍂♥️🍁🍂♥️🍁🐥
I have lots of beautiful fabric sets,,but I just look at them and then go and sew with my scraps!! Someday I will cut into those beautiful fabrics, but for now I'm happy sewing scrappy. Thanks for being you sister chick!❤
Gorgeous. Thank for sharing such fun & genuine content. I feel like you are my quilty buddy. I’m a beginner quilter and love watching you , you keep me company while I sew❤
A wider border with Scrappy flange, between the 2" Strips you have, or on the outside of the 4" l border. Scrappy binding for sure. Or, a 1" border of the Scrappy flavor, the a 2" or 3" yellow print for a border, the still a Scrappy Binding!
Just watched this tutorial and you have given me the answer to my problem. I try to organise my scraps and found I had lots of squares in autumn/dull colours. Answer - autumn leaves! Thank you so much for a brilliant idea. 👏👏
Beautiful and it looks easy for this newbie! Fall is my favorite season. Thanks, Di, for another great and fun video! Oh, and thanks to the Engineer for his funny comments! Love it!!
These table runners are gorgeous. Can't wait to see them with the plaid binding. I am going try and make one of these in a round for my table. Thank you.
Thanks so much Donna. I just finished the plaid binding on them today. I actually cut it on the bias and was a little nervous. That was a waste of worrying, it went on beautifully with no stretching! :)
I'm so glad to discover you are in Emmett! My grandparents had an orchard in Emmett many, many years ago. They have been long gone but I have fond memories of visiting them and getting wonderful apples. I lived in New Plymouth most of my childhood so I'm very familiar with the area. I live on the Oregon Coast now in Astoria. My grandparents and my dad are buried in the cemetery there in Emmett. Next time I come, I'll visit your shop.
Oh my goodness 😳 We love Astoria and were there this past summer. We love the Oregon coast. The orchards here are slowly going away to development. But my friend has one of the biggest orchards here with lots of fruit and tomatoes. I'd love a visit👍🏼 TFW🍁😊🍂🐥
This was one of my favorite tutorials! I love seeing projects from beginning to end! I really like the leaf blocks! I make table runners fairly often…never one at a time. I usually keep one and give a couple away…just like you! I usually use a white or ivory background, but you showed how the colored background can make a huge difference. I will keep that idea in mind for next time! The patriotic quilt is outstanding!
These are beautiful items! I made a falling leaves quilt one time for charity and didn’t want to give it away, but I did! It had Accuquilt leaves and pumpkins that I quilted down.

I hear you. But the quilt ladder changed my couch forever. We just pull one off and put it back on when we’re done with it. I’d love it. Thanks for watching Pamela.
Oh my goodness… I love these blocks! Beautiful work! I’m new to your channel but am so excited to learn from you.. I was inspired by your use of minky as a backing and I plan to use it on my second quilt ( I’m new to quilting) .. I made for my youngest granddaughter
Hazel’s blocks are perfect, now you have another quilter in the family. The table runners turn out great with the quilting. I like the quilting on blue block’s runner. Glad to see the Engineer has a nuther (lol) fan.
I am working on a table runner right now that has that save design and they’re going to turn out to be 9 inch quilt blocks. I however love little things and I just bought myself a 2 1/2 inch block lock squaring tool. I’m so excited to use . Thank you for giving me this wonderful idea to use up my scraps.
Aloha from Hawaii!!!😀😀🌈‼️ How lucky you are to have Hazel keeping you company while you quilt. It won’t be long before she is running the machine and coming up with her own designs!!! I hope you will continue to show us her new designs!!! It sounds like she already knows allot!!!! 😀😀‼️🧵🧵
My husband received a small table runner at a work Christmas party. He didn’t think much about it until I got really excited and told him how beautiful it was and what a special gift it was. He shared how much I loved her gift, she was pleased
That’s a great share, and I’m glad your husband reached out to the maker. Quilty gifts are the best. Of course in my opinion. Thanks for watching🍁😳😊🍂🐥

They are and I have a stack of pieces for her to make the next time she comes. I can’t wait. So that’s 2 fans he has😂🤣😂 TFW🍂🍁🍂♥️🐥
That’s awesome, Vicki. I love my bloc lock square up ruler. You’ll be hooked after the first trim. Thanks for watching.🍁🍂🐥♥️🐥🍁🍂
Beautiful!!

Aloha from Hawaii!!!😀😀🌈‼️
How lucky you are to have Hazel keeping you company while you quilt. It won’t be long before she is running the machine and coming up with her own designs!!! I hope you will continue to show us her new designs!!! It sounds like she already knows allot!!!! 😀😀‼️🧵🧵
