I always thought getting drunk was the sin, not the act of drinking itself.

It is. moderation in all things. Jesus drank wine. The pharisees accused him of it and he never denied it.

There’s a book that’s not in most bibles because modern bibles are based on a text that was written 1000 years after Jesus died called the wisdom of sirach and it’s found in older texts including the Dead Sea scrolls (which is the oldest old testament text we have and it speaks on wine specifically)

27 Wine is like life to men,
if you drink it in moderation.
What is life to a man who is without wine?
It has been created to make men glad.
28 Wine drunk in season and temperately
is rejoicing of heart and gladness of soul.
29 Wine drunk to excess is bitterness of soul,
      with provocation and stumbling.
30 Drunkenness increases the anger of a fool to his injury,
reducing his strength and adding wounds.
31 Do not reprove your neighbor at a banquet of wine,
      and do not despise him in his merrymaking;
speak no word of reproach to him,
and do not afflict him by making demands of him. Sirach 31:27-31

Excellent video, the part about Paul advising Timothy to use it for medicinal purposes is huge. I've been dealing with massive nerve pain the last four years due to my 10 bad disks in my back and neck. Initially I was advised to seek a pain medicine doctor and that I would be on opiates the rest of my life. I refuse to take opiates, and I will not be addicted to that so instead I drink red wine to take the edge off of the pain, not allowing myself to get drunk. I see red wine for pain management as a blessing from God. Anyway, thanks for a great video that is balanced a Biblically sound.

How about Proverbs 23:31-32. "Do not look at the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in a cup, when it swirls around smoothly; at the last it bites like a serpent and stings like a viper"

_For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children._
    Matthew 11:18-19
_And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:_
_Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man._
_Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?_
    Matthew 15:10-12

Why does this never apply to food? Lots of fat glutinous people in the church. I’ve never seen anyone throw away a slice of cake for their weaker fat brother. I’d also say getting drunk is not a sin but drunkenness (being an alcoholic) just like over eating once doesn’t make you a gluten but over eating all the time makes you a gluten. It’s a habitual act. Because at what point am I not drunk then I am drunk. Remember the psalms say God made wine to make the heart of man glad. We usually don’t see this “gladness” until a few drinks in, think the green dragon scene in Lord of the Rings. We ought to feast and not sin. That means eating and drinking. They called Jesus a drunk, and I doubt that was because he only had one or 2 glasses of wine.

Never a video about about being a greedy corporate fucker and the trouble that causes , or countries that manufacture arms , landmines that kind of thing, just some bullshit crap about a glass of wine, eating bacon or having a Tommy tank, is just bollocks , the rivers are polluted , the streets have homelessness , crime , drugs , these are things that should be resolved. Alcohol has brought many people together, many friendships.. this video then goes onto talk about being rich by avoiding alcohol but then again 'its hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven' .

Lack of discipline is a sin. Among the other pleasures of the flesh, sleeping and eating are also counted. Surely Jesus wasnt a sinner because he took a nap or ate an extra helping of bread one day. Sloth, and Gluttony are also sins. Id say that you are allowed to somewhat indulge, and at some point a line is crossed, usually when that thing is carried into excess.
