  • The Fit Si Honda SHOULD HAVE MADE
By Aaron Gaghagen and Brian Gillespie
We asked our viewers what they wanted to see and this is it. Our GE Fit is losing it's weak L15 and gaining a K24. But first, we need to test it, weigh it and then run it. This is such a great combination with our auto to manual conversion. Honda never mad a Fit Si, so we did!

@@lamesamelame Indeed Mine is a manual and It can EASILY get high 30's to 41 or so with a light foot. IF, I were ever to do ANY mods to the car, it would essentially be to do exactly what the guys in this video did; build a "Super" Honda Fit that actually has some power. I already find that the car handles exceptionally well for what it is, though the brakes are pretty feeble. But I sure would like the car about 1000% more if it actually put a grin on my face every time I stabbed the throttle, ESPECIALLY if swapping it didn't kill mileage.

1:37:58 Part of why that is so thin is to absorb impact energy and "crumple", So not only could you make it thinner and cheaper, You Should. Just because it better matches the factory metals energy absorption characteristics. Im sure he knows this if he thought about it. Our initial thinking is usually, thicker, stronger, safer, but in the car crash world, metal that Gives and transfers energy and bends AROUND the occupant is more Much desirable. Yes it does make them less "strong" in the traditional sense but not at all any less safe...in fact, it makes them safer... Science!

Brian mentioned using TL type S cables from that car's manual, but they were slightly long without affecting shift quality. They used J series shifter cables from 03-07 accord, shortened the cable that goes to the back and forth, threaded the end and screwed on a rod end. definitely a bridge I'll just cross when I get to it, paying hybrid racing might just be the easy way out. Probably about the same as before, considering that the Fit is still only weighing in at 2600 lbs and the K24 engine is naturally going to be running lower revs at highway speed. I used to have a 2000 J30a Accord and on highway slogs it would average about 28-30mpg if I kept it under 70mph. And with the long ratios of the Accord 5-speed they installed you could easily see this car topping 40mpg no sweat. Only issue is that with the K24Z3 a fillup(Premium) is going to be closer to $40 rather than say the $33 my Fit filled up with this morning.
