Tanks for the last two videos, you're best my brother. You saved me from negative thoughts nad encouraged me to work harder on myself. Also you have given me motivation to bocome software engineer with your daily routine video 1.5 year ago
Good take but we probably need geographical context. Which country are the jobs still there? I know the US is oversaturated but other countries don't have lots of software engineers. Do you think there are opportunities elsewhere, better than say prospects in the US? I have a gut feeling that other countries may not have an oversaturation yet, the only thing to know now is which country need tech workers?
The AI models can code out a simple web developers right now. But that does not mean every company will depend on ChatGPT to deliver their products. They need someone to maintain the code. For most of actual software engineering , ChatGPT is pretty much useless.
but they aren't going to hire new grads. They hire experience people as through AI, they will need less ppl thus they will depend on quality over quantity.
@@shahabwahab9538 In few years , the industry will face a talent recession if this goes on for a long time. We need junior developers, the seniors ones are expensive and has boundaries.
I been doing software for 27 years. What be cool if AI could clean spaghetti code or rebuild apps from legacy code to new frameworks. You can then keep your code in your own country.
@@shahabwahab9538 Juniors engineers have benifits. Companies understand that. They can be trained and are usually much more responsive. Give that they are much cheaper to hire. The tech layoff is a dent in the believe system , we will see how they use the word 'family' hereafter.
Outsourcing comes and goes - there was a huge wave of jobs going to India starting in the 1990s, so its not new. What is new is the pressure on companies to cut costs, even though they are still making money. First to go is development since it's a cost center, and a big one. What is new is the AI frenzy - everything is AI, even though nobody knows what that means. My toothbrush is AI now. Skillsets in tech are transient - if you don't keep up you're out. Harsh, but I've seen it over and over again in my 30+ years. And AI is causing layoffs - not the way you think tho - It's not really replacing developers, but displacing the money for developers, moving the jobs to AI related jobs.
dude most of what I give is free, I only have 1 paid course and it's only for people who want to get a job faster, get weekly calls with me, etc. I have students right now who get interviews for 6-figure jobs.
Lmk if you know a better career than tech right now

marketing
Thanks, what do you think of being a CFA.
After 2 years of unemployment and 150+ jobs applied for, I finally got an offer this week. Crazy market.
Amazing!! Congrats man!
How did you land that offer? Any tips you can share for others?
Thank you for such a level headed video. It's easy to get caught up in the doom and gloom of the job market. You gave some very solid advice.
Solid and mature advice. Great video man
