I grew up loving King. Salem's Lot, The Mist, The Langoliers, The Shining. The guy's great. IT, leaving aside the horror element, is one of the most accurate depictions of childhood ever, showing how really ugly it can be and how cruel adults and other kids often are. "The Jaunt" is one of the most disturbing sci-fi shorts I've ever read. But, I don't get why, out of all the truly dreadful radio out there, he'd pick these two to trash. "I went to Management"..... -gregshells "Opie" Hughes We now know, Opie "went to Management" far FAR more than what you'd think. Anthony helped expose all the lies Opie told. Don't u love it when Opie lies and says "other stations hated us bc we were changing everything". Awww....poor Opie honestly thinks this is why he can't get even a SINGLE good guest for his "new show" that is so painfully bad to watch I can't even sit through it just to laugh
You know you're listening to a hack when Opie tried HARD to say they "prepared for the show", "worked hard" etc ... Well now we all see what Opie "learned" since he was in radio since he was 18....you'd think he wouldve at least learned how to setup a microphone 🎤🎙️...but nope. He has millions, and instead of investing in anything decent, he went with I guess it's an all in 1 recorder and microphone unit, and it makes "the compund" broadcasts/podcasts look Edward R. Murrow. Opie having to sit there for over and hour holding the mic...it's just classic. But to hear him lie, about "how hard they work" or "how they are on top"....well guess what happened within like a WEEK of Anthony being fired from Sirius radio, the "not a morning zoo show" Opie went after of all people....Roland Campos....where he apparently knew enough about audio/visual equipment to go into a bathroom and videotape record Roland taking a dump. You heard that right. He thought it was MAJOR edgy to video Roland pooping 💩. Management who opie claimed just days before "are loving the show" (something that Opie himself said, was a sign of a failing program if "management loves your show". Opie is up there with people I would go into debt to fight in person. My ONLY condition I just want it broadcast to millions of people. I would take out a LOAN to embarass him even more than he has himself. I DARE you to go look at current pictures of the poor Peter pan that never had to grow up. Even Opie admitted his school sex talk scared him to his core. Yes he was scared to have sex of course because he's a disgusting looking Ginger and I want to know what woman would ever have sex with him without access to the millions of dollars....but anyway almost 100% of the co-workers, talent, comics, etc. On "his" show won't even give the opester the time of day, much less come onto his garbage little show. Even sherrod small stopped doing em. And that man is DESPERATE for cash. Or at least he comes across that way, doing those terrible video shows with Frank Stallone and Danny bonaduce. I just don't understand how someone could think so highly of themselves....think they can fight, think they're "tough" but then the only times he ever got into a fight he lost to the black kid he called the N word and the boy wasn't having it, and CLOCKED the opester mid court. During a play. During a game in basketball. Knocked him out cold on the floor. I could tell you a couple other stories like him climbing up the apple tree because he was scared he would have to grow up one day and literally started crying ran home climbed an apple tree and continued crying throughout the afternoon until his daddy came down and talked him out of the tree telling him he didn't have to have sex or ever grow up. So he didn't. And now he's a lost peter pan with millions in cash, but a SEVERE mental issue that he had to see a psychiatrist for, especially after his debacle with his wife's ex, bam margera, telling everyone he too was gonna "release a tape" of him and his ex, opies current wife that married Opie solely for money and fame...and then little poor obi had to go on the radio and tell everyone how much it devastated his family. Imagine having to talk to your kids about their mommy's sex tape and sex life...bc she couldn't keep it in her pants, she needed to film it. But what gold digger DOESNT work that way? Anyway it made my whole WEEK when Opie said how skanky she was and how he had to even tell his kids about it. Ouch. What a "classy lady" you married ope. I have yet to see even ONE Picture outside of their marriage, where they' genuinely look happy or content, or even pictures at ALL. so you want use to believe ope ...that there's a SEX TAPE...floating around somewhere...bc otherwise why would you have to tell your children about it? I'll give ya a hint ope, girls that bounce from celebrity to celebrity...aren't exactly "happy" selling their mind body and soul in exchange for never having to work a day of their "lives". I personally could not call that "living"....but just IMAGINE your mom...ugh ...making a sex tape and then you had to go around school gettin DOGGED for how skanky she is, or at best people saying "dude look at ur mom bangin bam margera for fame and cash!!". Anthony has had one of the all time most embarassing lives I've ever even HEARD of...and I think Opie MIGHT just have him even beat. I hope the millions of dollars helps cushion the blow of all the embarrassing things.
"he doesn't understand what we do on a daily basis." they talk shit about things and people. and have guests. yeah, it's a tough concept for Stephen King to grasp.
Steven King is the most overrated writer of all time. I seriously don't understand why people praise him so much. He has some good ideas but his execution of them is awful 80% of the time, he can't end a story for shit and he skips over important plot developments that are too difficult for him to write. He's a hack. The Stand is easily the worst book I've ever read. You know how that book ends? It's not a spoiler - I'm _saving_ you from wasting valuable hours of your life. God's hand comes down from heaven and saves the day. No, I'm not joking or making that up, that is literally what happens at the end of the story. It's fucking diabolical. And Randal Flag is the lamest villain ever. Yet for some reason King is heralded as one of the greatest writers of our time. What a crock of shit.
well it's because of his financial success from writing and his amazing audience reach. he's probably one of the most successful writers in history tbh. doesn't necessarily make him good to you or in general literary terms but it definitely says he speaks well to the majority. he's full of himself but I don't think the guy ever thought he was the next James Joyce or something. he influenced thousands of movies and books past his own work. basically he really spoke to the public which is hard to do with just horror novels. that's probably why he is so notable if you really wanted to know lol.
I’ve been trying to come over from Steve to O&A but I just can’t do it. This is so uninteresting. Yes they are great at times but for this to be clipped and replayed years later is just a waste.
The modern day submarine, the induction coil, the concept of the electron, Brennans Torpedo (the first longer distance, reliable guided torpedo), Whiskey..ever heard of any of those or do you need more examples? We have a population of under 5 million, U2 are one of the highest grossing bands of all time. Guinness is one of the worlds most recognizable global brands. Ireland has been described as Europe's Silicon Valley and it a major Tech Hub. Also, I like Opie and Anthongy..mainly for Jimmy
i think they should have worked on the alien level technology before the whiskey thing. it seems to have slowed down all the irish geniuses i never hear about lol.
With all due respect, if KING didn't give a shit, he wouldn't have bashed O&A in the first place. ALSO, everyone knows King's books are drier than a prune stranded among equatorial sands, but the movie adaptations are GREAT! Stephen KING's writing is so dull, H.P. Lovecraft and POE would have committed suicide, or at least put down their quills, knowing KING would be the future of Horror Lit. KING exists for two reasons: 1) entertain the Lowest Common Denominator, 2) make money off that same group. KING is unoriginal and a very dull read...but again, the movies are pretty incredible.
Are you claiming I said Maximum Overdrive was awesome? Because i never said that. And if youre claiming its awesome, maybe it is in a "so bad its good" kind of way like a Mystery Science Theater movie. That steamrolling over the kid scene was pretty badass though :)
I will say Stephen King sometimes speaks his mind too much to the point of harsh criticism. And he's brash by nature which is not necessarily good. However, I don't find any humor insulting his family and loved ones. I understand they would be angry what he said and I would be too, but attacking his family to me are low blows.
yeah because the funniest jokes aren't about punching down lololol. laughs don't ensue from over-thinking someone's feelings in a roasting. how could you even enjoy any O&A with that brain pattern going on? it's like the whole show every damn week lolol.
That's ironic, because I see a bunch of whiny Opie & Anthony fans whining that King dared to criticize their heroes. Much like their heroes themselves here.
why wouldn't you read like any of the 20 other books he's massively famous for? you picked the one they had stacked in a bin at walmart for clearance lolol. what did you expect? do you watch Robert De Niro in the family comedies he does now and think "man he's a shitty actor" just because no one ever showed you Casino or Deer Hunter lolol. don't care about King at all, but I just think it's hilarious to pick someone's has-been material first and be like "fuck this dood this evil iphone book is ghey".
Grew up liking King for his classics, but got suckered into his newer "under the dome" and "the stand". what long winded, anti climactic pieces of shit those books were! King can setup a half decent plot, but the books themselves are shit an he doesn't know how to conclude a story. never read a Stephen King book that ended conclusively and in a satisfying manner.
+elias mccracken No, he is a hack, he's read by teenagers who's only mode of comparison is nathaniel hawthorne and the bronte sisters, anyones more engaging than them, but get a little older and start reading CS lewis and tolkien, lovecraft and flannery O'conner, john updike--and you see what a piece of shit the guy is. Fuck, read vonnegut. King put out two books I thought were well done, The Gunslinger and Christine.
+Averyofthemain Lovecraft? He was more incoherent that Stephen King ever was! The Hobbit was great, but Lord of the Rings was a travellers guide for a fictional world. It could have easily be as long as The Hobbit.

@jmarz98 opie and Anthony ARE legends of the radio industry. Sure Steven king is a legendary horror fiction writer, but that's just in writing. They are both legends in their own fields. The point is that Steven king has no reason to call opie and Anthony hacks when it's clear from his own radio station that he has no idea what he's talking about when it comes to radio and what people want to hear.
Heh, he made an off-hand comment, saying 'you can stick Opie & Anthony where the sun don't shine'. And they did FORTY MINUTES bitching about it. Everytime Carol Miller comes on my radio I hear "What do you do Carol?"
If Opie was such an innovator, then why did he stick with the lame horse of Sirius radio until 2017, and then take almost a year to start up a podcast after he was fired?
Kubrick completely smoked one of his most famous works.
Kubrick’s genius was beyond King’s. Imo obviously
@@justinloyd8315 agreed. Sad that king’s take on his own work was absolutely wrong. As usual he wanted the hotel to be the evil that infects Jack and turns him crazy but Kubrick realized it was much more interesting to see a man who had already done bad things become unraveled. Again king’s mawkish supernatural nonsense vs kubrick’s pessimistic belief that all humans are capable of evil.
Opie suggesting he doesn’t just press buttons
Why would the Opster get so butthurt about what Stephen King says? He should be honored he even mentioned him at all.
I wish jim Norton had been here to rip Stephen king a new ass
even King admits Clive Barker is better then he is at horror....and so was Lovecraft
I like Stephen King, but every single one of his books Ive read has a horrible fucking ending.
Travis is less calories. God dam cumia your good 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Nice upload. Although I do get douche chills when Opie goes "Whhaat the fuuuck!??" You can hear it coming a mile away.
Which one is opie and which is anthony?
The white guy on the left that looks like a pixie? Or the Mexican dude on the right?
Opie is on the left, Ant on the right
haha mexican
Anthony is Italian haha
baltusd right thats like the funniest thing ive seen in the comment section
Angela Benedetto no .... he's a Corsican pimp!
Any fan of horror fiction knows that Poe and Lovecraft are both 10 million times better than King.
+Angry Gen X'er Poe? Sure. Lovecraft? Maybe 2x better. Lovecraft couldn't write a proper sentence or dialogue.
Is is just me or did they both get along really well in this particular show?
When someone attacks they put aside their differences and fight back together
i might be stupid but the clips that they are playing of their fights with carol miller, what date were those if you know? Cause i could only find the one from 1998.
I love Stephen King. I love (not so much Opie and) Anthony. This makes me sad.
Stephen fired the first shot by bashing them, so it's fair fucking game
They might have hated each other at this point but fuck it was entertaining to listen to them both.
At least they HAVE an actual viewpoint. They're definitely not a "Morning Zoo" kind of shit-fest. I think he mentioned them because he was trying to make a point and they're the first names that came to mind. He probably has never even heard the show. I mean, what are you gonna do? He's an old dude, and like all old dudes, eventually they're out of touch.
Raymond Arcangel
After your first sentence, I was hoping you would say "But I grew out of him.".
@@KC-bg1th /lit/ queer. Lost?
20:41 Jim and anth are peoples friend, opie did all the dirty work
I like how they were mad a Stephen king for 5 mins and then unload on radio lmao
O & A, and of course, Lil' Jimmy will be preserved for the ages as well.
King also wrote: Stand By Me, The Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, and Hearts in Atlantis. His drama is arguably better than his horror.
Dozens of his books have been adapted to film, maybe more than anyone else in history, he's sold half a billion books, and he's had more hits than Timothy Leary... and now he's a hack who writes shitty books?
No,he's an anomaly.
You know who writes shitty book? Check out Opera's book club list.
David Powers Actually the authors on Oprah's book club usually have something original to say, not just silly, contrived plots about magical convicts or kids dealing with demon clowns or whatever brain fart King serves up next to a lazy, illiterate public. 'No one ever went broke underestimating the American public.'

steve conn "lazy, illiterate public" - Ad hominem. Nice. Steve, let me ask you a question. Do you always put down others that do not share your taste in art/film/literature/music?
"There goes Steve Conn, he's such a fun and easy guy," said no one ever.
David Powers Here's another question: Why should I lower my standards just to fit in with the herd? Let David Powers show you the lemming approach to taste.
David Powers Yeah but I think Agatha Christie has sold more and had more of her books adapted to film.
What Anthony says at 25:47 is so right.
"I went to Management".....
-gregshells "Opie" Hughes
We now know, Opie "went to Management" far FAR more than what you'd think.
I bet Stephen Kings just butt hurt over the fact that they goofed on his ability to direct movies with Kevin Smith.
You can hear ants pain right off the bat
Well... He did direct and make Maximum Overdrive... So.....
Opie has peeps? Lol
I love both King and O & A.
Look at opie pic lol
Fan of both don't care
if there was one thing opie was good at, it was making people feel useless.
takes on to know one, i guess.
awesome uploads!
"he doesn't understand what we do on a daily basis."
they talk shit about things and people. and have guests. yeah, it's a tough concept for Stephen King to grasp.
Most overrated writer of the modern age
He has the right to say uh NO.
Opie must have taken his psychotropic drugs that morning. He was actually listenable.
I hope you've grown as a human since you said this.
Anyone know if there's a clip for Jimmy's take on this?
Let’s see you write a book
Is anyone surprised that the guy who writes dozens of books about people being murdered has a bit of a temper? lol
I’ve been trying to come over from Steve to O&A but I just can’t do it. This is so uninteresting. Yes they are great at times but for this to be clipped and replayed years later is just a waste.
Whose Steve?
Steve from Yellowstone?
The modern day submarine, the induction coil, the concept of the electron, Brennans Torpedo (the first longer distance, reliable guided torpedo), Whiskey..ever heard of any of those or do you need more examples?
We have a population of under 5 million, U2 are one of the highest grossing bands of all time. Guinness is one of the worlds most recognizable global brands. Ireland has been described as Europe's Silicon Valley and it a major Tech Hub.
Also, I like Opie and Anthongy..mainly for Jimmy
Ireland’s gay
i think they should have worked on the alien level technology before the whiskey thing. it seems to have slowed down all the irish geniuses i never hear about lol.
I guarantee Stephen king doesn't give the slightest shit about these people.
sdry except he has...
I want to hear more lunatic Opie
Obligatory Opie bashing post.
He mentioned them, so, they do.
Big Kingus fan, read 50 of his books a year.
Wow, Opie's been working on his hater voice for quite a while lol
Heeeeeeeeeressssss Johnny
That's ironic, because I see a bunch of whiny Opie & Anthony fans whining that King dared to criticize their heroes. Much like their heroes themselves here.
I read 'Cell' by Stephen King and it was hands down the most derivative piece of horseshit in history.
Beware the homicidal cell phones... Wait
What the f*ck happened to you man?
MarcusAurelius he wrote over 50 books, you just happened to read one of the shittier ones.
Or shitty, in general
why wouldn't you read like any of the 20 other books he's massively famous for? you picked the one they had stacked in a bin at walmart for clearance lolol. what did you expect? do you watch Robert De Niro in the family comedies he does now and think "man he's a shitty actor" just because no one ever showed you Casino or Deer Hunter lolol. don't care about King at all, but I just think it's hilarious to pick someone's has-been material first and be like "fuck this dood this evil iphone book is ghey".
+elias mccracken Blowing up the Overlook Hotel wasn't satisfying?
+Averyofthemain Lovecraft? He was more incoherent that Stephen King ever was! The Hobbit was great, but Lord of the Rings was a travellers guide for a fictional world. It could have easily be as long as The Hobbit.
+elias mccracken Can't agree on the Stand. But everything about Under the dome was terrible.
+Shakalaka Boomstand Sounds like you need some adderall my friend.
Love Stephen King, but...there was 'Lisey's Story' ='(
O & A,best friends a guy could have
Opie might not be as funny as the other two, but his cringe moments are as good as they can get...
I love reading the old comments here and wondering how many of you are dead now
Thanks Jasonayeiter i am a newfag to this show so listoning to there older stuff is hillarious and lets me understand some of the inside jokes on there later shows keep up the good work. Please upload more cringe interviews if you have the access and time Thanks again
And then you get Opie & Anthony and all the people in the comments here saying King is humourless or whatever, and it's like... do you not fucking see the irony? King mentions O&A off-hand, and they all go apeshit about it. Forty minutes. These people can't say he's lost his sense of fun - they got a sentence of criticism and cried for an hour.
Dubba doo any dubba doo
Dean Koonz is pretty good, too!
they dont have talk radio in the emerald isles
?
