I remember I used to listen them on the way to school with my dad. My small prepubescent brain thought they were funny at the time, now I'm a adult with a dysfunctional brain and listen to archived radio of o &a from 16 years ago instead.

If it wasn't for Ant and Jimmy, Opie would've been just like Lex and Terry.
Opie curated his team, so chances are he'd have just found another Anthony or figured something out with edgy comics to fill in the blanks. If it wasn't for Opie, Anthony would be managing an HVAC company annoying the shit out of everyone with his cassette tapes of the few times Rotgut made it on the radio in the 90s. O&A was lightning in a bottle, and the sum is far far greater than the parts.

I used to have to listen to them back in 06 at a job I worked, they weren't like hacks, like Opie really but, they didnt want to lose their jobs either if you get me. They used to brutalize callers sometimes though. A few laughs.
They’re still on but my God are they horrible. I listened to them interview Bert Kreischer last week and I kid you not it was painful to listen to. They kept over talking him, trying to tell him how edgy they were and at one point challenged him to “the jock of fire” which is a stunt boy deal where they wear a jock strap with icy hot on it. Bert said “yeah, wow…..we did that in high school” I was embarrassed for them. One of them brags about his stand up comedy career yet nobody has ever heard of him.

I love that O&A grew out of their hacky days and then chastised anyone else for going through the same phase. Gatekeeping hackiness is another level.
I turned 16 in 2001 and started listening to Lex & Terry around the same time on my way to school. I had no idea what shock jocks were, I just knew that the show made he laugh so I became a dedicated listener. I listened until around 2004 or 2005 when suddenly it struck me one day that they were just two old guys trying to sound young and cool and soon after I gained the same opinion of pretty much all radio DJs.
I found this video about two or three years ago, and this is what got me hooked on O&A videos. Before watching this, I couldn't have told you which one was Opie and which one was Anthony, and now I feel like I've been to the bottom of the O&A rabbit hole.
In short, Lex & Terry introduced me to O&A. Also, apparently they're still on the air spouting their hackery.
BTW: The pictures of them in the video are the same pictures they've been using on their website since AT LEAST 2001.

As a fan, I can defend Jimmy in my head. He messed up and pointed it out right away, and then the rest of the time he was focusing on the “interruption bit”. That said, I’m high and wondering if I’d be defending Lex and Terry if O&A played a clip of Lex fumbling the number. I’d have to honestly say I would laugh at him... just shows the bias of humor depending on the person making the joke.

I lived in Jax and i'd still never heard of these guys. And to give you an idea, there was literally NOTHING on in the morning in Jacksonville in terms of talk. Most stations had just music, there was maybe one Light Station family morning show (With Hole!) and then Bubba the Love Sponge. These guys were so bad they literally couldn't compete with nothing. They got dropped from mornings on a friggin AM station and replaced by sports talk

In my local yokel market, as a kid, we used to get a show called John-Boy and Billy. I’ve never heard O&A or Wigward attack them, guess they’re way too small.
I remember John boy and Billy. I believe they are out of North Carolina. They were heard here in the Orlando area back in the day. I think it was more around the nineties maybe early 2000s

Lex and Terry are not that good but... when I lived in North Carolina they were the only game in town there was no O and A down south back in the early 2000s
We had Cooper and Tobin on WPDH, a classic rock station. They were pretty funny but they had music breaks. I believe they both did some standup work which I have to believe helped the humor and tone of the show. I only discovered old Stern and OandA via RUclips in my 30's so I am catching up. But yeah, I hear ya about the stuff you grow up with as being THE option.

Me too. I grew up listening to Lex and Terry. But once I found Opie and Anthony I realized it was just a better show in every regard. Bits, interviews, riffing, contests, whatever. Just Ant and Jim going back and forth was better than anything Lex and Terry ever did, and I do like Lex and Terry.

Lex and Terry were great in the late 90s to the early 2000s... I would love drunk bitch Friday! And love when they would do relationship advice and have people calling and call their spouse on the radio. They really do have great relationship advice and had a few really good bits with d and taint that they did. I don't know if they stole any of that so I'm not giving them credit where credit is not due because I'm not aware. I listen to them recently and no longer like their material. But for everyone that has never really listened to their show and talk trash about them is absurd! I never really heard of Opie and Anthony until the last few years. But when Lex and Terry went head-to-head with Bubba the Love Sponge they were far superior in the Jacksonville region! They used to have a great morning show but I do not like it anymore. I have never really listen to Opie and Anthony unless they have a guest that I admire. I will give Opie and Anthony credit that they have far superior guess and equally good bits. But what I've heard from Lex and Terry morning show Bubba the Love Sponge show and Opie and Anthony show including Howard Stern the originator of all of it I think all morning shows rip each other off but all of them do have original bits for each show that are extremely entertaining! So to hear people bash other people is ridiculous to me! Like I said I have never really listen to Opie and Anthony unless they have a comedian or celebrity guest that I would turn into listen to. I have heard every morning show with great bits and horrible bits... But this is what morning radio is all about! Everyone has to find their target audience and expand from there! And I would never trash Opie and Anthony because I have never really listened to their show when I listen to Lex and Terry every morning for years when I was a teenager and I loved their show especially their relationship advice they gave people. People should get their facts straight before they decide to hate on an entire show over a horrible bit! I'm sure Lex and Terry Opie and Anthony Bubba the Love Sponge and the king himself Howard Stern have all had horrible bits and if that is what people base an entire morning show on they are morons! Just my opinion.
And even though I have not heard a lot of Opie and Anthony and have heard hours of Lex and Terry I would not choose sides and bash Opie and Anthony because of a bit I did not like if that was all I heard!
All of this is entertainment based out of a certain region. However with satellite radio it has all becomes a huge media! Everyone is entitled to their opinion I just hate to hear morons who do not know the facts go on and on from the only show they heard from that morning show. I'm sure if I heard only one Howard Stern bit that bombed and I decided I wasn't going to listen to them over that then what gives me the right to say Howard Stern sucks and Opie and Anthony are the kings? Lex and Terry are a much smaller market but really did reach all of their listeners on a certain level that they all agreed with!
And the last thing I wanna say is opie and anthony and I believe its jim norton voice I hear on the show which I love jim norton by the way, as much as they are saying Lex and Terry are promoting then and there satellite radio. Opie and Anthony are side by side with Howard Stern in my opinion as the best morning shows of all time! But why are they giving Lex and Terry so much publicity? Opie and Anthony keep saying that it doesn't get under their skin but this entire bit they are doing shows it bothers them to a degree and are promoting Lex and Terry just as much! If it really didn't bother them they would not mention it in the first place!
And I'm sure since opie and anthony show reaches such a wide audience including the south where lex and terry were extremely popular how is it possible that's not the 1 fan of lex and terry called in to defend the Great original bits Lex and Terry did to defend them? It sounds to me like Opie and Anthony would not air another person who called in to defend them. Because all they did in this entire show was put Lex and Terry down! Opie and Anthony are the big dogs so of course Lex and Terry would challenge then to get better ratings! But I never heard then put anyone on the air that would defend Lex and Terry! Shows to me that Opie and Anthony were bothered by another popular morning radio station that called them out! I would have loved to hear Opie and Anthony verse Lex and Terry on the radio debating each other shows and call each other out on what each show did to rip other shows off! As great as Opie and Anthony are I'm sure they had horrible bits that failed and sound scared to me to play some good stuff Lex and Terry did! Lex and Terry called you all out and Opie and Anthony back down! Whether they were better or not they lose by default! Because they did not have the balls to call them out person to person!
