Did you measure the size of the objective lens? These say they are 80x100 which means the objective lens should be 100mm (3.94"). Hard to tell from the video but the objective lens doesn't look anywhere close to being 100mm across.
+1, in al videos people don't know what 80x100 means. and clearly we can see neither the objective is 100mm diameter, nor a 80x zoom lol this monocular is just garbage or for people who don't understand they are scamed
Sir, there is no way that thing on its own is 80x, to put this into perspective the Nikon P900 and P950 have a 83x optical zoom and has a lens diameter of 67mm. At best that thing is 8x with a lens diameter sub 35mm. The only thing that’s doing is adding 8x optical zoom to your phone camera. The iPhone 14 Pro can already do optical zoom up to 5x and has digital zoom to 15x.
80x100 means we should be able to see things impossible to see with a naked eye. But even in your demonstration "things on the table" can be seen even without the use of that monocular. Why would you even sell a garbage like that ?
This looks like a Next gen Monocular telescope I've been getting ads for, please tell me if it's just a rebranding of this one as I don't see any reviews for it on RUclips. My gut tells me it's a scam but Im not 100% sure
I think it is a sales gimmick. The power is probably 8x, combined with a phones 10x zoom, you get to 80x. If it was 80x, it would have been serious competition for spotting scopes.
While they still advertise as 80x100 (False Advertising). The details list the objective as 42mm. Additionally, they added this little nugget in the details: "The monocular telescope offers 8x native magnification and can be combined with a 10x smartphone zoom lens to achieve 80x higher magnification." What a Scam!
Great video! I wish you would have shown a little more how to hook up the phone, because I'm new enough to "smart" phones that I still hate them very much. But you showed me enough and I'm pretty sure I'll be able to figure it out. Thanks again for the clear, easy-to-understand basics of this thing!
I'm a little worried about all the comments complaining that the magnification numbers don't seem right. This has been going on since the beginning of the internet. If you don't specifically search for an already known company, or read about them in a trusted media outlet, you assume it's plasic crap. Which, frankly, is in my price range. I'll be buying this.
The design for the phone mount is not ideal, not close enough to the phone lens, and that's why you see the image on the phone with round shape. Not a good one.
Yes, it's not 80x, wow! What else did you all expect from a chinese product for 9 bucks? It doesn't mean that it is completely useless though... Especially for just 9$. I've seen a lot of similar models (one included a built-in small compass on top) and the numbers given by sellers vary in every case (7x50, 4x60, random in general) but as I can see on the video now it magnifies and narrows phone camera's view just enough for a purpose of a homemade security system using this toy and an old smartphone, both pointed right at the spot where it's expected to see a wild animal or a burglar jumping across the fence on the far end of the backyard. With a proper app I'm going to have such a system for far less than I'd pay for a dedicated camera with a motion sensor and its own software (tbf 9$ for this toy only). Hence, I'm buying it.
80x100 is a total lie! This monacular looks like 8x50 at most. Can someone write the correct specs? The first number is the magnification, the second is the objective lens diameter. We also need the eyepiece diameter and focal length.
I bought one exactly like this before reading the reviews and yes folks dont buy it learn from my mistake im getting into astrophotography and soon as i looked through this i knew it was a scam its no where near not to mention the field of view is crap anything outside the exact object your focusing on is blurred.
Your video quality is low, not judging your video quality, but that monocular still looks cheaply mad, and so does the tripod, and the concept of recording will always give you a fish eye effect. This may not be the same product that youtube advertises, but youtube is scamming people with fake ads
they don't really look like 80x. They look more like 7x. In theory with 80x you should easily see Saturn and all its details
You are comoletely right. Without mirrors and/ or far longer size 80x is impossible.
Sent this back, it is not as advertised it does not magnify very much, don’t buy!

what does the 100 number means?
How's the battery 🔋 power on it?
How far can you zoom 500 yards?
