Greetings from Northern California. I have a 2018 gasoline Kona, with AWD, 1,6T engine and 7 speed dual clutch transmission. Love that little car, good acceleration, very fun to drive, Hyundai is coming on strong with the Kona. I will keep my eye on the electric version, thank you for the review.
The initial intro by flicking around with stuff, is by far the best I have seen - it's what you want to do, and it is incredibly distancing when some guy just gets in, and drives and talks you to death. They probably were not going to make a mess of it - the Koreans are really punching above their weight, they earn respect I think? Are we going to see a repeat of the German reunification success, with the two Koreas, if they smooth things over, you have to wonder. This is in fact probably the new standard? Nissan underwhelmed with the capacity/range of the 2018/19 newer Nissan LEAF, this car could occupy the slot so vacated, I think. And, the SUV style, is absolutely 'on point', no? Is it a third of cars sold new, are SUV-look-alikes? Thanks for the vid.
For normal daily driving the eco mode is the best. Its nice to have this acceleration, but to drive with low consumption i prefer. I like this modern color ceramic blue 😀
Prom Prometheus The eco mode delivers enough power for me too. I was driving 40 minutes. A lot of accelerations, driving fast in all modes. Doing test. Consumption was 16 KWh/100km. Just an amazing car! I would prefer it in white.
This is the car that I wanted to Tesla to build. Small SUV built for the masses at an AFFORDABLE price. A nice large battery. Good performance, not ridiculous head snapping, pleasing to the eye and very utilitarian and can pull a small lightweight trailer or camper. What a shame Hyundai/Kia beat them to the punch. The only thing I would add to this vehicle is Tesla's Auto-Pilot.
Quickie - at 08:45 where the vehicle reverses out of parking slot, across your lane - did you have to use brakes, or did the regen you'd set to fairly strong, prove sufficient? ta.
Gregory O'Sullivan I have to drive the Kona more. 45min is not enough. I am used to a manual gasoline car. When I get it for a few days I will have a better understanding.
I am interested in this decision kona versus ioniq as well...as i have daily distance of 140km (one way 70km) and 80% of that is on highway with much traffic...so around 100km/h is possible. Looking for the more comfortable and more quiet e-car. Charging at home no problem for sure.
I just drive in comfort mode all the time. Nicest display info wise. Regen braking is great., I have got used to braking to a stop with the left paddle which is super smooth. You had regen set to 3 which actually slows the acceleration. Try it with regen off.... OMG
The windings which generate the regen apply a load on the motor. Only when set to zero is there no drag. I've done tests with my one and efficiency is definitely reduced around .5Kw between zero and level 3.
Yeah, can't wait until it comes to "the states." And with Nissan delaying its 60kWh battery model, I hope to get Kona EV, if it will come to my area, likely in late 2019.. such a long wait.. Europeans are so lucky to get it first.
ist das das autohaus patzer in regensburg? wenn ja ruf ich da mal an. würd den auch gern mal probefahren. hab ihn schon bestellt und will wissen was mich erwartet!
Nintendonator Platzer & Wimmer in Hutthurm. Es gibt leider nur einen Kona EV für das ganze Unternehmen im Moment. Die schicken den Wagen also alle paar Wochen woanders hin. Er war in Regensburg, jetzt hier, nächste Woche Mühldorf am Inn, usw.

Enjoy it. You are very welcome.
looks like you really had a blast driving this car!

Oh yes! Wait for my next video. Even more fun!
@@BatteryLife ok, subbed!

Danke schön
Thanks for sharing your electric drive with us through your beautiful countryside.

Thank YOU for watching

“Somebody was driving like a maniac” - proceeds to drive like a maniac :D

Got me there.
But I had 17 KWh/100km consumption. The other person over 20!
The efficiency on this thing is crazy!

That is Regen. Regen is very strong in this car. Especially in low speeds.
If the Ioniq was available with more battery capacity would you prefer it to the Kona?
Gregory O'Sullivan

Kona has way more advantages for me over the Ioniq.
Comfort, seating position, power, range.

The Regen level should not have influence on the Acceleration!

Very interesting. I had no idea!
whats this virtual engine noise for? my leaf has a pedestrian warning which goes off over 30MPH
Hyundai Kona EV is awesome. Seems better than Nissan LEAF.
Andrew Le
Yes it does seem that way!

Koreans have it even better. They have the car for quite some time.
Yeah, I know... Korea is kicking Japan's butt in EV tech! And Japan had a head start! Geez...
With regen braking/stopping does the brake lights respond.
kkelroyy
I don't know
Yes. When on full regen the brake lights do come on

I envy Europeans so much. You guys get all the affordable EVs first.
@lazarus921 Isn't the Ampere available in Europe.
Walter Payne
Yes, the Opel Ampera is here, but you can barely get it.
@@BatteryLife That is the story with all affordable EVs in North America
Walter Payne
But the Europeans are so envious of you for the Model 3.
Hahahaha I guess your right about that... For now.
When kona is coming to india
PRADEEP PV
According to some youtube videos, it already arrived in india.
if power is too much, just use normal instead for most of your driving
oobydo1
I will get used to the power! No worries.
ich finde heraus wo das autohaus ist!
