I relate for the summer seasonal depression. Too hot to function especially in a tropical country 😂
I relate to summer depression as well. I live in NJ and summer is like 3-4 mos and I still hate every minute of it 😅😅
I'm from Houston TX and summers are brutal- 100 degrees and 80% humidity every day 😭
Same! Here in Madrid, Spain we have a saying: 9 months of winter, 3 months of hell. The winter part is not true anymore, but the hell still is 🥵
I also relate to summer seasonal depression.
I absolutely get seasonal depression in the summer. AZ is so brutal in summer. I absolutely dread it. I get sad in spring because I know the heat is coming.
I get that summer-seasonal depression here in Oregon. It gets surprisingly hot here sometimes. Even where I grew up in Central Washington state it got hot, that area was a semi-arid desert.
I think I'm just not cut out for hot weather, anything above 80 is too hot for me.
Ok, I live in New England and struggle with the early dark in the winter, but I also CANNOT function in the summer heat! I'm surrounded by friends who love summer and think I'm crazy because I would like to keep the AC on till it snows. It also means I keep the easiest and shortest books to read in the summer, and the fall is when I get excited to dig into big books since I'm more awake 😂
I need to do more mood reading as opposed to TBR reading as well and not bite off more than I can chew book wise.
I used to LOVE going to the library, my local library used to be located in an old red-brick building the was once a firehouse(that building is now preserved as a historical landmark)-but then my library got rid of most of its older books and stocked pretty much only newer books and moved into a bigger and far more "sterile" almost school or hospital or warehouse-y type building . . And somehow that completely ruined the experience for me. 😿 🙃🙃👀
A good way to go around the "strict TBR while also wanting to be able to pick up an unscheduled sequel" might be to schedule a mood read a month or a week or whatever works best for you 😊 that way you give yourself some well deserved leeway.
End of the year tags already!? 😅 Why does time go by so quickly?
I think this will be the first year I have more than one book on my Christmas list, and a good chunk of my list is thanks to you. Though most of it might be manga cause I just got a Kindle so I’m devouring all the free stuff on there.
My plans for reading are to try to read more. I read 4 books in 5 days and then didn’t touch a book for 3 weeks. I’m also gonna continue to expand the types of books I read but also be ok with stopping reading something if I just REALLY don’t like it. I’ve DNFd a book recently and felt really guilty cause it’s pretty popular but I could not force myself to enjoy the writing style or some of the issues I had with the story.
😂I was really vibing with the weather talk. The hardest part about mood reading for me is in how much I use the library. I frequently read something based on the due dates, even though I might be in the mood for something else.
Oh… if you haven’t read A River Enchanted and A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross… Omgosh sooooooo good. Even better then Divine Rivals. Soooo good
I totally relate to summer depression. It’s only spring here where I live and already had 2 34C (93F) days
My goal for 2024 is read at least one of the books I've purchased but haven't read yet each month. Reading ebooks is a lot easier for me at this time in my life so most of my reading is on Libby/Hoopla. I keep buying physical books though so I need to read them!
yes, the summer blues. i found this summer especially bad as it’s refusing to end. 😢
i started with the witches series of discworld this year and really enjoyed equal rites. i had the audiobook play along, which is great as well. i believe the books will also be good rereads as i’m pretty sure i missed some of the wit. i definitely want to continue.
🤞that talonsister will show up soon! (i feel slightly bad for having it sitting in a stack and not having started yet 🫣).
have a lovely weekend + happy reading! 💜
They way you feel about your summers is how I feel about my winters here in NY. My focus for my reading is really to get my shelves organized and read down my physical TBR.
Gideon! I cannot recommend it enough. I love that series so much.
Thanks for the weather in Arizona update
I tried to plan so hard this year lmao with middling success. Some months went great, some months I burned out and needed a break. I think my goal is to allow myself to mood read and not put a book quantity pressure on myself. I like your idea of "if I like the first book in the series, allowing myself to just read the rest of it if I want to". I feel like I'm constantly prioritizing my tbr to figure out what I want to read next (old popular or new anticipated).
I don't know why but I always love this tag! I haven't thought too much about my 2024 reading but I am with you in that I need to catch up on some series!
I appreciate your channel, it’s got me into reading again, & i do like listening to audio books while reading along, I had no idea it was called immersion reading…just something that helped me enjoy reading more. Nice that others do it too, & is a thing, i don’t feel so weird or lazy, Thanks for all the suggestions Much appreciated. ❤
I love that Hoopla idea for your backlisted books…I’m going to do that too!!!
Great Tag!
Just remember my birthday 🎂 is on Sunday lol 😂😂❤❤prayers and blessings for you and your husband and your precious puppy 🐶 love your Aussie family friend John ❤❤❤❤I am reading 📖 all my books 📚 on my shelves for next year ❤❤❤
when you said HOOPLA i instantly thought of a spongebob meme HAHA
loved the tangent about the weather tbh 🤣 i feel like my only goal for my reading every year is just FINISH ALL THOSE DARN SERIES, but i still never do 🥲 one thing i definitely want to do is be more intentional with my reading, so actually making tbr/lists and sticking to them because i mood read way too much haha
I also hate Summer!
Autumn and Winter are my preferred seasons too!!!!!!!🤭🤭🥰🥰🥰💖💖
I don't like Summer either. It's heading towards a hot dry Summer here where I live.
Talonsister was amazing! Can’t wait for you to get to it!
Can 100% relate to the summer season. So excited for ‘Florida’ winter which is just not dumb hot and humid. Crips 70s-80s 😅
I hope you like the Discworld books when you start them! I love any books that feature Granny Weatherwax like Witches Abroad and Maskerade.
Gideon the ninth!!!! oh boi do I love this series
Summer is one of the reasons I hate living in Arizona!! 115 degree heat then getting into your hot car. Yuck. With the weather getting better its a lot easier to do yard work.
Come visit in the PNW… actual seasons and summers are temperate and pleasant.
I ALSO GET SUMMER SEASONAL DEPRESH!!
My reading plans for next year is honestly just to try and read more. Full stop.😅 😊 I'd like to finish at least some of my ridiculously-many Soft DNFs and incompleted series I've accumulated over all these years-but as long as I just get back to reading at all, I'll be happy, really. ^--^ Lol
I have summer seasonal depression as well.
It wouldn’t be a video without dropping a shout out to the winnowing flame😂.
The Acarlet Alchemist was an amazing read for me. This one surprised me!
My top goal is to read my book of the month books. I need to read more books than I take in my house lol. So starling house is priority right now lol. But I do wanna tackle more of Red Rising series. I’m at Iron Gold
I really loved Talonsister! Better than Ninth Rain, but very different. I'm sure you will love it too!
Any clue when the states will have Talonsister?
@@susanwalker1186 I don't. I ordered through Blackwell's...very reasonable price with free shipping.
I still haven't read Blood over Bright Haven. Where can I purchase it that isn't Amazon?
I'm thinking of dipping my toes into a Sanderson secret project.
I’m not 100% sure on this but I think that book is available on kindle unlimited and I THINK when books are on kindle unlimited they have to be Amazon exclusive. I could be wrong tho.
I still need to read Divine Rivals 🥲
