- Eddie Kurdziel, EAA 431776, brought his rare Fairey Firefly AS6 to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2019, and won Reserve Grand Champion: Post World War II. The Firefly was introduced in 1943, and operated by the British Royal Navy as a fighter and anti-submarine aircraft, and was also used in a ground-attack role during the Korean War.
During the early eighties a Shackleton & a firefly did a tour of England and flew out of Liverpool airport!...I remember them flying over our house in Speke.....Great memory to have!
Sadly i witnessed the Firefly crash at Duxford 2003. That was the last show i attended, Sad day. But what an aircraft you have there, its a thing of beauty.
Those 20 Mike Mike's will leave a mark! What a gorgeous restoration, Thank you 👏
Fairey Aviation had a service depot at Ringway [now Manchester Airport in the UK] in the mid-1950s. They used to service Fairey Gannets for the RN Fleet Air Arm. A Firefly could often be seen parked outside the hangar area amongst the Gannets waiting for overhaul. I used to pass by on the road adjacent to the site cycling on my way to school.
2 twin 20mm cannons sweet im so glad you bought this plane from 1 of our R.S.L's here in Australia and restored it its definitely a rare bird!
Fairey was a UK company who specialized in naval aircraft (perhaps the British equivalent, on a much smaller scale, of Grumman) and they made some good, tough aircraft for the Royal Navy.
Congratulations on an absolutely stunning restoration
A true labour of love, what a magnificent effort and thank you for your dedication
Amazing preservation. Thanks for share.

Hi Eddie, was nice talking to you in Page. I was late the next day at the airport so didn´t see you depart. I wasn´t at the airport until 6 am - still too late. Would have liked to see your plane up close.

Just heard EAA Airventure is cancelled due to covid-19 , is that true?
Why did we sell the plane? was the RSL short of cash?.
