I bought the game from a Babbages at a local mall (I am pretty sure I bought it with birthday money) for $39.99. When I was in the car and I was looking at the back of the game, I had a realization that made me wonder if I'd like the game or not--it had turn-based combat. Fortunately, I ended up enjoying the combat system significantly more than I thought I would. I played this game for MANY hours (I am sure that I have done at least a dozen playthroughs) and even played it some in my adulthood. After Guardian's Crusade, I started buying rpgs like crazy. One of them was Granstream saga (which I purchased from a local pawn shop). I never beat the game (I think I got stuck somewhere) but I did really enjoy the part that I played through. The greatest RPG's of all time were made for the PS1. The "Golden Age of RPG's" me and my brother call it. So many fantastic stories that were not only engaging, but innovative. The variety was quite amazing as well. From the popular ones like Final Fantasy VII and Dragon Quest VII to the lesser known but equally as good (if not better) gems like Suikoden and Lunar 2: Eternal Blue (Grandia, Legend of Legaia, Alundra, Brave Fencer Musashi, Jade Cocoon, Tales Series, Threads of Fate, Dragon Valor. I could go on and on). That system's RPG's were the pinnacle of narrative, character development, game play mechanics and style. Back before graphics were so good that they all looked the same; these games relied on differentiating visual styles! From the smooth realistic graphics of a Parasite Eve to the masterfully pixelated anime inspired "gundam" suits of Vanguard Bandits. It truly was a treasure trove of entertaining and enthralling games. Playable movies is a better label for them. If you enjoy RPG's but haven't played the NUMEROUS great titles from that era than you are missing out. Great videos, Erick!

You didn't even sell Dragon Valor very well, come on man! What about the huge storyline divergence based on who you marry in the beginning? Totally changes who you play next in your family line through multiple generations. What weapons you get. What dragons you fight. What dungeons you do. Everything. Insane amounts of replayability when you figure out you don't have to open that door in the beginning. ;)
