    What differences are between these and deco x50?

  • @inber
    @inber 9 месяцев назад +7

    I have a Deco X60 connected as access point. It stopped working after a firmware update in December 2023.
    Seems to me that the TP-Link mesh systems works fine as routers, but not as access points connected to another router. After the problems I’ve had, I feel quite reluctant to buy more TP-Link equipment.

    he forgot to mention that he had to install or already had OSB before installing this PVC wall board. you don't have to do that with a dry wall. the PVC gets a lot of its strength from the OSB.
    if you put OSB behind the drywall, the baseball would not fly through the drywall like it did in the video. if you're comparing apples to apples.
    I'm not saying it would not damage the drywall.
    so you have to add $2 a square foot to the cost plus the installation time doubles.
    it still may be a better option for people that don't like finishing Drywall or the dust it Creates.
    I would just do it in one step with Ton and grove white melamine board.
    cheaper and faster and you get the same look.
    nobody is putting eather of these products in their home but a garage is fine.
    i personaly like a track melamine board to hang stuff up or add shelves easily.
    a more pricey Option

    I bought this mesh thinking it would be better than my Meshforce 7 but I could not connect the 3rd node at all. Tried reset 3x but to no avail. The wireless speed was no better than Meshforce 7. Disappointed as I love my TP Link routers.

    Do all three deco's have to be wired? If so, how do you run all those wires?

    • @kingtaco1472
      @kingtaco1472 Год назад +9

      You don't need to wire them in. I have these systems in my home and helped setup in 5 different friends homes. It's a dream. Download the app then plug in one device at a time right in the living room or wherever your existing modem or router is. Don't start spreading them through the house until you get everything working side by side. Then unplug the 2 you want to move and go plug them in wherever you want them. Then wait 10 mins. They will have firmware updates and when you plug them back in it will show red lights for longer than you want to be patient but they all turn green and it's go time. Best system ever.

    My current TP Link Extender RE650, my iPhone 14 Pro Max does not detect the Extendend 5GHz frequency, only the 2.4GHz frequency. My Pixel 7 on the other hand can see both. I want to get a Deco system to extend my Starlink router which is WiFi 5 and not 6 but I'm afraid the cheaper Deco S4 will not show the 5GHz frequency on my iPhone 14 Pro Max. It shows up fine on iPhones X, XR and 11 Pro. Please can you confirm to me that the iPhone 13 or 14 Pro Max can detect the 5GHz of this newer X55 or the older one you showed in the video which is the S4. I will appreciate this.

    • @FishBeeProductions
      @FishBeeProductions  Год назад +1

      its local fiber optic and runs through a small box on the wall similar to a modem but don't remember what the installer called it. Basically looks like a small box just big enough to convert the connection to ethernet and has indicator lights on it.

    • @Uninterrupt
      @Uninterrupt Год назад

      This can’t help with the buffering if its an issue with Starlink but it can help ensure whatever connection speed he has is being maintained throughout the coverage area. If the cabin is within a few feet from the main Deco device, it “may” work in the other cabin. (He can also use an ethernet cable to connect the second Deco)

      Yes you could try that to see how it works. Everyone's house is different, some may be able to use a stronger router like the gaming ones with multiple antennas. Luckily I can run Ethernet to each mesh router so it's a little better than wireless mesh system.

    Hi. I'm thinking of using a pair of these in one house and another one in my son's 1100 sq ft condo. He is currently using an AirPort Extreme in the condo. When used as a single router for older device supporting b/g/n/ac only, do you think one of these will perform as well? I understand the AirPort Extreme does not support Wi-Fi 6 (AX). Aside from Apple deices, most of our computers from work do not support Wi-Fi 6 yet. Hopefully that makes sense what my concern is. thanks!
