Dropping by again to hear and see this great band. Jimmy's smile is fantastic, what a good looker. Keep playing for our entertainment as well as those in attendance. God Bless You all. Thank you. (CA)
When I was a kid long ago Thanksgiving consisted of the Macy parade, the Hudson parade and a parade that was all string bands in real fancy dress from Philedelphia I think.. the morning belonged to the kids watching the parades while the parents cooked and got ready for the family coming over. After dinner the TV belonged to the adults watching the Packers and the Bears.
What a real thrill to see and listen to this fantastic group. I have only played this one song so many times since I found it on my computer last night March 17th, my 85th birthday. I use to play the Accordion and the Banjo years ago when I was much younger and thoroughly enjoyed the good times. By the way, the young man who is the first person you see is without a doubt, a sweetheart, his smile is contagious. Thanks for all you do for the good of everyone.
Every video seems better than the previous. The Captain (Jim Good ??) has a really nice way about him.......the other gentleman (don't know what they call his position) is very smooth and understated in the way he commands the band. All in all, just a very pleasant , very professional group.
When I saw this video before New Year's Day 2023 I said to myself they're going to win first prize. Congratulations and by the way you guys deserve first place in 2022 as well.
If this is "Hat Day" why are the musicians wearing caps, not hats? And what is the original of hat day? Am I right in thinking hat making was a big business in Philadelphia back in the day?
Hat day, ice cream day, and many more such holidays is my answer to "You stole this holiday from...." every time somebody uses that as an attack. 535 government representatives freely propose holidays every year to a 365 day calendar. How many holidays are on any given day nobody knows. There is a specific drum and bugle corps day that entered the holiday list when I was about 17. I think you should get your senator to propose a String band day.
@@nancyjanzen5676 Thank you but I don't understand how your comment is any answer to my question? And I have no idea why "an attack" is involved. Is this just another example of internet miscommunication?
@@JoeHarkinsHimself now think back to Cheustmas or forward to Easter. Apply my you stole this holiday from .... bwcause they cekebrated on that day. 8 billion people in 191 countries all have holidays celebrating everything they like. That there are more than one holiday worldwide on the same day should not suprise anyone. And it doesnt mean anyone STOLE anything. It most likely means group A created their cultural holiday for themselves wuthout regard to group B and group C 2000 years later is not the judge and jury if either groupA or B

Can't get enough of these guys. Their good times radiate from them, and make me feel happy.
I can't decide if the people watching or the people playing are having the most fun. And they play old favorites!
You folks are the absolute best.❤️ Greetings to the best Captain….Captain Jimmy.🙂

They used to have a 'Mummers Parade' with big feather fans. Is this the new version?
No, the Mummers Parade is still held every New Year's Day! This is from one of our parades around our neighborhood of South Philadelphia.
See they guy walking by laughing?

Why does a string band have an accordion?
Some questions shouldn't be asked.
