    Another good one 👍i was waiting for you to make a "review" on it for years👍I got the composit fibre option which is evan smaller, and i have alot of fun using it. The way i use it is like you did but instead of one pole in the center with 2 poles, each one attached on the second loop (not corners) and then pinch down the corners, that way the setup is a little bit lower and the sides are fully closed, worth a try 👍I will never forget my 5 day trip with it in the swiss alps 🤣i remeber a brazilian couple doing the same tour (very athletic hikers) passing me during the day and calling me "tissue paper man" 🤣never forget.. Nice to see you and your dog having so much fun on Dartmoore, wish you nothing but the best 👍 Greetings from Switzerland

      Thank you much appreciate your kind words
      This little beauty kinda slipped my mind as I was using other tarps so much
      You waited a long time so thanks for hanging on and posting comment
      Your idea sounds interesting as you’d have 2/3rd or 3/4 of the inside covered or protected
      Definitely worth a look and see one day
      What I like is some of you who comment are clearly very very experienced and yet still take time to watch and post a comment on something I do
      Take care

      @@TonyHobbs You are welcome Tony 👍You inspired me when i was addicted to alcohol and other drugs back in 2014, i lost my job, my driver license and my girlfriend, basically everything in 3 months. At this point i knew i had to change something. I came across your channel, bought miself a backpack and a tent and started to do overnighters, 3 months later on christmas i decided to stop doing hard drugs and a year later in 2015 i stoped drink alcohol and on Christmas 2017 i stoped to smoke. In 2020 after 4 years of drug abstinance and after paying a lot of money i was able to make my driver license again. You and mother nature helped me when i had no one and nothing but very bad thoughts. so... if your videos help other young people like they helped me, its worth every single comment and every single video. After beeing clean for a while i can look back and say: I did the big tour du Montblanc in 2020 (7 days) the same year i started the Via Alpina (6 days) and the second part in 2021 (9 days) Now its 2022 i am clean i got my driver lizese back and i feel like a 20 year old 👍I choose nature over drugs and found myself again better then ever. I hope i inspired you like you inspired me a while ago. THANK YOU Tony

      That is great to hear such a happy outcome just shows its a small world we live in someone posts on RUclips someone else sees and the ball rolls. I remember another sub telling me they'd talk about me in the America on the trail lol its potty to imagine 😅
      I just enjoy myself and getting out being a complete nutter and sharing with those that wish to watch. Not many of you so definitely appreciate those of you that do. Been here on RUclips long old time its mad to imagine and still mad as a hatter lol 😆

    A really useful video. I’m presently making a clone of one of these, just got to add the two reinforcement patches and do a bit of seam sealing. Fabric - Membrane Silpoly from Ripstop by the Roll in the USA (part of a bigger order to make the carriage cost bearable). 160g for a 9x5 tarp is pretty good, I think.

      Hi Pete thanks 😊 they really are good fun. Just have extra cord it's useful with a tarp plus know a couple basic knots just helps occasionally. Pitch higher if weather OK
      Lower if not and if the tarp reasonable size this one is small lol you'll still have room under it
      My grace duo is more roomy than any solo tent kinda sort of lol where its needed lol

      Pleasure happy to see some lovely comments here.
      And I'm going to brave a few nights in the Lakes with a tarp soon. Packing the Grace Duo lol that thing is a luxury tarp tbh so big and cosy inside. Plus SL bivy which squashes down to a ridiculous size.

    If you look up on RUclips "canvas cutter full length pole system" you can see what I have in mind. It's designed for their very heavy bed roll but what I'm thinking is stretching the monk tarp along its length. Put the MLD double ground cloth under it. In the Soul bivy my head would lie under the middle of it, perpendicular to it. In effect turn it into a super sized hooped bivy with storage underneath. The dcf monk tarp is even narrower than the silnylon. No trekking poles or guy lines needed. If raining hard could lie under it along its length but would most likely have my legs in the bivy out in the weather as I've seen you do. In Argentina you can set up a tent just about anywhere if it's out of town and not someone's yard. Could easily carry this setup and it would go up and breakdown quickly. If you don't go too far travel on buses is cheap. A number of popular towns have hiking trails starting right at the edge of town. With campgrounds that charge very little for use of their showers. Was thinking spend the night in campground, use their shower, charge my power bank, download some videos with their wifi, then spend next night wild camping off a trail near town. Could get by on a couple hundred dollars a month while paying off some bills. And would enjoy it too.

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  2 года назад +1

      That sounds a good plan let me know how it goes
      Yeah cuben is usually smaller
      The trailstar in cuben is much smaller than silnylon
      Is canvas cutter American?
      Stay fit and well and safe and thanks for watching

    • @kennethkilpatrick3758
      @kennethkilpatrick3758 2 года назад +1

      Yes they're American out of Utah. Googling should pull up their website. Their canvas bed rolls are too heavy and bulky but are about bombproof. They have an excellent small mesh tent that the full pole system works with too. I got rid of the bed roll but kept the pole system since I'm into bivies and could see them working well with one like the Soul bivy.
      Have you looked at Australian gear? The Aussies might be the best camping culture on Earth. Considering their population size they have an amazing diversity of camping ideas. There's a company called Oztent that is high quality and makes great tents. They have a tent cot called the Bunker Pro that goes up in seconds. They have a dealer in the States now.
      A lot of interesting ideas out there.

      I really out to try one of his places he found online as this getting old and holey lol

    What length poles are those? I'm thinking about the Monk + Superlight or just going with the FKT Bivy.

    • @TonyHobbs
      @TonyHobbs  Год назад +1

      Great combo
      I think these are black diamonds up to 145cm
      I like long poles for a tarp gives flexibility
      Bad weather get it lower. The only issue with these poles they don't go short ie shortest probably 1.25m to 1.45m
      My pacer poles go much shorter so good option too they probably max out @ 135cm

    • @TonyHobbs

    • @wadeduvall7026
      @wadeduvall7026 Год назад

      @@TonyHobbs Thanks for the info. Sadly I only have the 130cm fixed length so might limited pitches somewhat. I'm kinda leaning toward the eVENT Soul since its so dang small and you don't need to carry poles.
