  • The goal of this experiment was to see how pressure and temperature changed inside plastic bottles when treated to different conditions. Two tasks were carried out using two 1.5-liter plastic bottles.
    In Activity A, one-third of the bottle was filled with hot water, drained, and
    covered. The observed phenomena were the inward sealing of the bottle cover due to the drop in pressure inside the bottle induced by the cooling of the air inside. Crushed ice was placed into the bottle, covered, and shaken to thoroughly cold the inner portion in Activity B. The observed phenomenon was the deformation of the bottle and the creation of condensation on
    the outside surface of the bottle because of the decrease in pressure inside the bottle induced by the cooling of the air inside.
