- If you are considering living a nomadic life in the future but aren't sure how to begin, here are some tips and ideas that can help you. I started living the nomad life about 3 1/2 years ago and it has been one of the best things I have ever done. If a life of travel, adventure, and new experiences appeals to you then perhaps you were meant to be a nomad too!
Some of the topics discussed in this video are:
Getting rid of excess possessions (minimalism)
Getting rid of excess bills and debt
Figuring out how to make money on the road
Figuring out where you want to travel first, and more...

My wife and I are actually pawning everything in our apartment. And getting ready to start our adventure in the nomadic lifestyle!
How has it been did you start?
1 year later....how is it?
That’s cool
Us too how is it going
How is it so far?
I've finally decided to take this seriously and get out. being stuck paying rent in a place I'm unhappy at.. working a job I don't care for. I need a big change and nothing ever makes me feel as happy as nature does.
my same exact feelings
I agree
Noticed this was a year old, how are things going?
@@eejay50 crazy you check up today.. I'm actually on my last two months of my lease right now and after that I'm packing up my essentials and heading toward the mountains out west 🙏
@@JordanDrewVideos wow, that’s like my dream lol, good job man don’t give up it’s probably gonna be the most difficult adjustment you make but I bet it’ll be the best decision you ever made
You should post your journey, I know I’d be happy to watch it
Gorgeous greenery out there. Bet the air is oh so clear.
I'm so glad I found this video! You have a very nice voice to listen to! Which is one of my pet peeves. I cjust can't listen to certain voices, I will move on to another video. I look forward to going back to review your other videos.
Good vid :)
I became nomadic due to circumstance, but, rather than letting.it drag me down I decided to embrace it.
You now find me living in a self-build vardo with my three rescue dogs, seven goats and Bill, a bull calf that I am raising to become my locomotion.
Recently, I found that I have to move on, which, considering that I needed a couple of years to raise Bill, so, I am taking the final step to reduce my already meager possessions. (the less weight I need to carry the easier it will be for Bill to pull.)
I am debt free, my income is less than $150 a month, and, I am hoping to reduce my needs even further. The thing is, since taking on this lifestyle my life has improved dramatically.
The next week will see me getting my gear together and disposing of the unnecessary stuff and pulling my camp apart.
Eventually, once I am mobile I will truly be nomadic, travelling Europe as the whim takes me. :)
🫡✊🏾💫
Hi Tim love these topics. Can you discuss the mistakes you made nomading and how potential nomaders can minimize or prevent certain issues. Again love your tips.😊😊😊
I first started by converting my car. Did that for 6 mos and paid car off and saved for a used minivan. I converted the minivan which I paid for outright and did the conversion myself. I'm finishing up work at Bryce Canyon then hitting the road again. I've met NOT many nomads yet...
I have a hiking backpack. Enough for mountain traveling. I'm doing this one day.
Beautiful walk.....good talk, good advice.....You take care of yourself and keep going...
I'm so unhappy with living with others and working jobs i don't want to do to pay people who don't even like me
This comment mirrored what I'm currently going through
your energy is Amazing! ty
This is so helpful on the same line of what I have been thinking.
This is so interesting. Thanks for sharing.
Good content. Thank you.
Hope you saw SW Sweetie's suggestion of buying eyewear with a head strap! Nothing is more terrifying than trying to spray a charging bear and then the wind pushes the spray back into your eyes. Learn how to pivot against the wind if you ever need to use it to defend yourself against a bear.
You have some great tips. Thank you.
I’m deciding between going back to Law School or becoming a nomad. I’m inclining towards nomad and I have told nobody about it because I know there will be resistance. I have no wife, kids, debt, etc.
There's always resistance when people do masculine things and encouragement when people do feminine things.
oh for god sakes dont go to law school and become a pawn of the devil. Geezus. Lawyers are judges are the most crooked thing on earth. And the law is a joke today, its law for thee and not for me..
THANK YOU FOR THE INFO BRO
Inspired to do this. i have been in pianful relationships, dead end jobs, slavery. i want to be free and will this month. i hope to meet more nomads. i do photography and investing and hope to travel together with you all.
This helped me out a lot.
Absolutely fantastic. Thank you
I just started living in my van full time and Im from the north east coast i was gonna go to quarzite az but i heard it was a bad idea so im struggling to come up with content for my channel because i need to stay on the east cost for my job and i really want to have more freedom to travel around so i need ideas for content on long island since thats where i work im in pa near west virgina rn i really dont want to go back to ny to live in my van there because its gonna get ice cold soon id like to be able to travel south for the winter then coneback maybe go back to long island in the summer
this is an awesome video mr ward, but in 2022 we are going to be called --- FREEDOM FOLKS instead of nomads, lol. love the video sir
Good thing you brought your bear spray in Glacier National Park. The bears there like a seasoned meal. :)
The only time I saw bears was when I was in the car ☹
@@TimothyWard
It is actually a rare case to see a bear in the wild out there while hiking.
That don't mean they are not there.
I spent nine years out there and the only grizzly bear I ever saw was while driving up the mountain on an old logging road. Never did get to see one while hiking or hunting.
I used to give other hikers a hard time about wearing bells on their shoes.
I would comment, I see you have your dinner bells on. :)
So with that, how can you tell the difference between black bear poop and grizzly bear poop?
Grizzly bear poop come with all the bells and whistles. LOL
I know you had a great time out there.
Was this video from up in the St. Mary area?
I'm getting ready to go back to the wild I'm disable now can't hold a job anyone who downs me don't no my story it's sad but I was on top of the world 2-4 k a week but I can't do it anymore brain sheering got me bad my mind resets all the time it sucks it really does I'm gonna be on foot I almost died I want to see the world n be back with nature again tbh I don't want no one feeling sorry for me after people screwed me over big time I'm going back to the wild away from people and hope to dedicate more of my life to God
Good luck on your journey Jake! Getting back to Nature and back to God sounds like a great plan!
Awesome video... love the walk and talk. Looking for people with around the same sized channel to collab with, and share ideas! Love to connect to more freedom-seekers and create that life :)
Where do you find seasonal work? Are you still traveling
I use a website called Coolworks.com. Yeah I'm still traveling!
Does the nature get old after awhile?
What does nomad mean? No madness ?
Don’t get the ticks on yourself
Bet he didnt buy skeater spay....
Yeah bear spray dont do shit if bear has rabies
great video man sub from me
Welcome to the channel! It was good to get to chat with you in the livestream last night.
i wanted to live a nomad life before i even knew it was i thing
Same here. Glad to know there are others out there though!
Susan Matz me too since now

🎶 imagine no possessions 🎶 it’s a lifestyle choice which delivers a free soul and peace of mind. It’s amazing what we don’t need but think we do.
Jc Flynn exactly. The problem with capitalism is the stuff you own eventually owns you.
@@vitalityfox that's not a problem with capitalism it's a problem with being privileged (this has nothing to do with race. I know a lot of people associate the world privilege with race now a days and that is NOT what I'm getting at).
When i sold my home i left 99% of my "stuff" in it,, and it was like a HUGE burden was lifted off me.
Now I'm homeless & everything i really need fits in my 4 panniers & i couldn't B happier ⛺🚲
Step #1. Avoid marriage. (and children).
It is a great plus to not have such responsibilities lol..seriously.
I agree. My two husbands were parasites, and I raised my daughter by myself. I do not even want to start thinking about how rich I would be without them having entered my life. The husbands that is.
Marriage and children= ball and chain. Not the life for me. Im a friendly loving person but im a introvert that has been emotionally damaged for over 25 years. I dont know how to live that kind of life. Wouldnt know where to start.
Christrulesall2 same and I’m 18. Introvert here. I hate how fast paced life is.
Christrulesall2 ah bro you can always talk with me if you want! @hamoeza on Instagram
I got no bills, no debt, probably 5 pair of clothes and a laptop. Let's go!!!
This guy has very positive energy
Once my daughter is old enough to fend for herself, thats the route i am choosing, i know its high risk but the rewards are amazing and i want to LIVE before i leave this realm.
I'm thinking the same. What age do you thing your daughter will be? I'm thinking my son will be 18.
Cost of living is always increasing than the minimum wage. Can't wait to get out my lease and just live the nomad life and not be in debt all the time.
Did you become a nomad?
I fully agree about DEBT! The bible says in Proverbs 22:7 "the borrower is slave to lender". Once you eliminate debt there is freedom and you can do whatever you want.
Jesus was homeless
Been in my car 3 years ...thank you for this video ..I need all advice I can get ..bless you
How do you pay for your lifestyle? Just curious!
@@ninjaKelle pension and social security
Im not in any debt, live with family and don't have to pay rent yet, I've been saving up for a car but now im thinking instead of saving more for a van or a small rv and to just leave. Im hoping this is a good situation for me to start and im a bit excited. This video was really helpful. Thank you!
I'm thinking of doing this by myself if my girlfriend leaves me.
Go for it! I mean, if she leaves lol
@@TimothyWard lol

@@TimothyWard ahahaha
I'm a nomad myself. Love your channel man! I'm just starting mine ✌
My house just went under contract and I am about to get started. This video is perfect timing for me!
Where are you going to head to first?
Up to NY to see family and kind of introduce them to my new life and then across to the state of Washington.
I've already sold everything. All I have left is what will be going with me into the RV (which isn't much). And I can already see how I view money changing as you describe.
Jenny Bkr are you still living the nomad lifestyle and how is it
WOW, ITS SO PEACEFUL.
It is super peaceful out there. That's what I love most about hiking alone. The solitude and peace.
GREAT DECISION! To turn around...lol! Get out of those "bears" apartments! Stay Safe!
I’m 12 and when I turn 18 I’m going to hit the roads till I die
Thank you for the informational video!!! I spend all of my time when I am not working as an independent contractor looking at the "minimalistic and nomadic" lifestyle. Sticks and Bricks are "overrated"...Thank you!!
I'm in the process of trying to sublease my place so I can start working seasonally because of your videos and CheapRVLiving. I'm starting to build out of my prius as a camper for day trip and looking for jobs.
My question is, if you're trying to work at a ski resort is it better to work in the town somewhere or for the resort? I want to get the most amount of time skiing as possible
It's better to work for the actual resort I think because you will usually be closer to the skiing and alot of resorts give employees free ski passes. When I worked for Big Sky Resort my co-workers were skiing all the time lol.
Making my way towards that ultimately, I’m a trucker and am out about two weeks at a time and I live in my truck. Only thing that keeps me rooted are my kids, there 10 and 11 so I’m restricted to a point until there old enough etc. I’m definitely am and always have been a nomad in heart and soul, found your video by searching nomad lifestyle. Always expanding my knowledge and learning skills.
I just want to get out there and work and sleep in the woods, and never return to New England. No cable, no noise. No family.
I'm in RI. I simply cannot afford bills. I'm a single teacher. This lifestyle is very tempting
How long do you stay in one place? I want to embark in a nomadic-like lifestyle, travel to a new city for 4-12 months and work and explore then move to a new city
I'm jealous Please be safe
Tim, how far did you walk in this video? lol. Man, you were hoofing it at a pretty good click. Kudos for all you do. I'm watching all your videos in order now. Almost ready to leave.
I'm getting out there soon! I've got 2 cats and a Deville we're starting with but I'm selling it so we can do #vanlife. 💘 Thanks for all your inspiring content!
I was watching Jim Carey and it ignites my curiousity into this topic.Watching from the Philippines.
So happy I found this! Spending my last weekend with family than I'm hitting the road next week❤. Can't wait to see the world!
Good luck on your travels!
This video just changed my look on life and I’m determined to stop living my life cooped up
You know I THOUGHT I had never really known anyone who was a nomad...but when you mentioned picking up a job to work for a short period of time to pay for your travels I remembered a couple of nurses aides who used to work at a local nursing home. They were from another state and they traveled to my state and others and would work as nurses aides for several months.
This is my goal by 50 to be in a luxury Rv and travel state to state with my lady
Hi there Tim be safe out there 😬 I wish I had the courage to do what you do and maybe 10 years younger 😁 I guess it’s never too late I always see middle-age woman out there doing the same thing i’m too scared 😱
Love your classroom. Great advice and tips. Thanks. I'm researching the lifestyle and will check out more of your videos. Happy nomading to you!
GREAT stuff ! Spoke to all the things I’m preparing for . My deadline is feb 1!! Ahhh you just said Necessity Is the Mother of Invention!! Indeed my friend. One of my mantras. Thanks again
Hopefully by October I'll have all my stuff sold and be living in the woods. Just ordered a hot tent and a wood stove to get through the winter
joining the club. BC bound.
Nice to meet you Timothy Ward I will be following you , you made feel like I do when I get on my motorcycle I just go I take roads (paved) without direction I just go Enjoy life make bad days a lesson or experience
How far did you walk during this video? Seems like several miles! You must walk very fast.
I think it was only a couple miles. Yeah I watched the video back and realized I was hauling butt lol. I'll slow down next time.
I’m tried about race money problems trying to make ends meet I just want to live life to the fullest
Exactly! Nomad life helped me with all of those things!
Love the channel & positive message - very inspirational in a real world sense! Have you ever had any strange experiences out in the boonies during your travels? Weird lights, strange noises, etc.?
Any tips for 1st time filling out the online forms for Coolworks, or other national park, resorts, for seasonal work?
We have one thing accomplished. A date! May 1st we're taking on across the Atlantic.
Honestly thinking about walking and just going
You are my favorite black RUclipsr lol
Thanks!
Getting a disability check provides a lot of freedom - although it can become boring after you have watched all the stuff on YT and Netflix. So when summer comes, im packing my backpack, and see how i like it outdoors.
Head outdoors Espen!
I'm 67 homeless & happier than i hv ever been, live on a small ss chek, fortunately i hv no medical condition's, not on any meds, & in good health...
Plan on living this way till i croak.

Watching this video now as I am about to go full time bicycle nomad. I am grateful to be getting 1800 a month from the VA after getting injured and having PTSD from being in the Marines. I will attempt to make videos of my journey, like a journal to make some side change, but 1800 is my budget to travel the world each month.
Dont have no dependents. Like small children and over protective families.
I’m 18 and considering living a sort of nomadic lifestyle. Would it be to early to be considering this
Fresh
First rule make noise when youre in the woods. A lot of bear attacks come from humans surprising bears and getting to close.
Bears stand no chance against Mooseman.
Great video as always, scenery is amazing.
Mooseman has no fear!!!!
Timothy Ward 😂
I really want to do this I’m just scared of not being able to eat/ have decent shelter. I’m pretty adaptable and can handle pretty much anything besides extreme weather and staying hungry lol
I'm the same way Dalton. That's why I chose seasonal work as my main method of nomading. The temporary jobs I get provide me with housing and meals in most cases.
Hello jobs like what cuz that’s my only problem right now
Great scenery! My favorite trail so far in Glacier is 'Trail of the Cedars'. Also curious about your tee shirt logo. It's either a moose head or a bat.
It's a moose head but in the Batman logo. I got it in Alaska
Right now I’m living in my van with just a mattress and some of my clothes, food, water tank and few provisions and this is how I’m nomadding. No amenities, no power, heat, sink, or anything. It’s comfy enough on a cold night in the south (Texas). I’m in the process of possibly selling the van for 6k and I’ve thought about using that money to pay off all my debts and backpack/hitchhike everywhere. I love a simple life. I was born to be minimalist. The only thing is, I do like to cozy in the cold, I can handle heat but I can’t handle being cold. And that’s the only part that intimidates me, when coldfronts come through. I’m sure I’d have a sleeping bag and a tent but I love nothing more than to be in a warm room in a cold night with a fireplace. I’m sure I would get used to it though. Right now my more comfortable plan is to get a reliable SUV instead and sleep in there. It’s more gas efficient than my V8 van.
Hey Tim great video. I've always had this burning desire to want to travel & explore meeting new people. its only since recently that found out what as Nomad is since then, I've been able to put a title to myself & the life I want to live that of a "Nomad". i will start my fist journey soon.... Thanks for the tips
Awesome message, Tim, thanks for taking the time to pass it on
Hey Tim! I have been binge watching your videos. Love them all! How long does it take for you to find your next seasonal job once it ends? What's the longest you have gone without another job?
My tips, no friends, family, children, lover, pet's ( hard with a dog, hard to stealth camp with barking giving location away, extra weight with food and water) do research on the vintage hobo life and tips, look for cash work, (labour) side hustle ( street performer etc.) Carry seasonal (to heavy to carry Winter gear in summer) travel light as possible (this only comes with experience of every season) it's not always a romantic life, its hard and dangerous with the weather, nature ( bugs, spiders, snake's etc) people looking to cause you harm, don't team up then you are not a nomad, they will use you, dangerous, get you introuble with the law, just stay away from them and learn on your own, and thirst and hunger, good luck 🤣
That’s a nice environment
I know you searched for it!!! Nomadic life✨😊
If you need a few dollars, like he said, flipping burgers… some fast food restaurants will let you transfer as often as every 3-6 months
The views starting at 3:30 are amazing!!!
Had Subcribe Done it before Will do it again
I am about to just start walking, I have nothing to sell, no assets, but I'm tired of being a slave just to barely survive.
I have a question if you don't mind, how old were you when you decided to start living this way? And how old are you now? Feel like I am getting in this to late in the age game.
I am 15 and i want to live like this but i want some friend to do it with me
Can i have a small shitty super cheap house just to come back to every once and a while? I also like riding my motorcycle but i cant do that while traveling so maybe i could leave it at my house locked up and when i get back i could ride. What should i do about other hobbies and possessions cuz i really wana be a nomad but i dont want to completely give up on my other hobbies. Any advice?
I bought a dumpy house in rundown town for practically nothing at a county tax auction as a way to do what you mentioned early in your comments. Served me very well. Difficult to do this in most states but in mine you aren't required to pay past due property taxes. I'm in different situation now but having that house worked perfectly for lifestyle I wanted.
Thanks Tim, you’re right! A man once told me when I told him for the third time, I don’t think I’m ready. He responded “you’re never ready you just do it.” So I did and it worked out fairly well, with faith and belief that all things are possible through God who strengthens me.
Thanks for this video, Tim. I've never watched any of your videos and found this one after researching about nomadic lifestyle and related. But yours made me pull the trigger, man! Special thanks from Brazil.
I seriously just want to trade my car for a nice small on the go truck with a sleeping bed
