My fear is that we get the “system” again with too many crosses and not enough attacking ideas coupled with head scratching roster decisions. My hope is that Gregg learned from NL, and will just kinda get out of the way like Hudson and BJ did because I think this team needs that kind of freedom to play their best

    Just say you want him back. I could deal with that. Don't treat me like I'm stupid.
    Also, soccer fans being intense shouldn't scare USSF.

    I'll say this, I don't think he's the right fit for the team. But, he seems to have most of the players behind him. So unless he loses the locker room or starts losing a ton of games, I think he's safe for the current WC cycle.

I don’t care how pretty it is, whether we beat everybody 5-0 or 1-0, as long as we get results… Gregg Berhalter should continue to be the coach. If we stop getting results? It’s time to move on. That’s all that really matters. Results.

    I, for one, love Berrhalter. Despite occasional "greggball", the statistics tell us he is the best USMNT coach of all time and should go down as a USMNT legend. 17 wins in 2022, took us from failing to qualify for the world cup to knockout rounds. Not to mention his solidification of the USA as kings of Concacaf, with the double in summer of 2021. Wish nothing but the best for this USMNT legend

    • @ZeroFamilon
      @ZeroFamilon Год назад +7

      Statistics can be misleading. I think Hudson and BJ proved that. Anybody who was coaching this group of players through that window would have at least those same stats if not better.
      He constantly underperformed with the quality he had to work with and slid by on the bare minimum. We didn't win a single away game during Qualifiers. We only barely qualified for the WC when we should have easily been able to finish 1st in the region. Even our WC performance, apart from the England draw, felt lackluster at best.
      Only props I could give 3G is winning Gold Cup with an MLS, C tier squad. Even then, all he did all tourny was park the bus against much weaker nations and grind out 1-0 wins.

    The problem with GGG rosters is that they lack depth. Now, I am not an MLS hater, but the inclusion of some (not all) MLS players is a detriment to this team. They simply are not the world class players we need to be able to compete on the world stage.

    • @jettapa3427

You think that a league that is ranked 16th is going to compete with teams that pull from the top 5 leagues in the world? The speed of play is simply too slow. The roster in the Nations League semi and final was the best we ever had. This roster actually had depth.

  • @misterclayton8
    @misterclayton8 Год назад +2

    Good video but I think you are way off on the effect a bad national team manager can have on a squad. Ask the 2010 French squad. Good national team managers know that you can not choose your ingredients you have to work with the ingredients you have. Greg doesn’t do that. Also you seemed to miss the idea that the US qualified to the WC on goal difference. That should be mentioned.

It’s good that people are passionate at least.

He was in many ways successful. Hell if he puts in the work and continues to grow he could make something great of this. That’s what people forget. They expect perfection on the first try but that’s just not the nature of being a person. They say his tactics don’t work as if he can’t ever implement a new one.
