This well crafted tale is absolutely fantastic..👏 the director was bold to explore such a taboo topic and present it without any vulgarity ..a great attempt..instead of judging the movie on a scale of morality , try to see through psychological aspects of each character.. how they become vulnerable when they succumb to their emotions..

Why is everyone supporting the husband. He pushed his innocent wife to ask money then job to a influential man. There is nothing in the world for free. I’m not supporting the lady’s behaviour but the husband is main reason. I think the movie is about unemployment. Don’t have babies when money problem is there. As a mother the lady wanted to save the family so she went out of her way to ask for help. Then she gets attracted to the ideologies of a independent, educated man. If any girl is watching this movie remember to be independent on your own. Or else u have to hear everyone’s opinion.

I watched this movie in my school time. I hadn't understand anything properly. I had no clue. I felt pity for Naren character then. After a decade I watched this movie again. Understood the concept, her love and everything. But still I feel pity for Naren. Yes obviously it's her life her choice. The movie was poetically potrayed. But Naren is ❤️. He was with her throughout her downs. If the husband hadn't loved her, he would have left her when she was mentally affected. I totally impressed with the husband character ❤️

I think to understand this movie itself, high amount of maturity is needed. This story is about a typical middle class family and a women of no exposure and awareness. And it's not about who is right or wrong, what could have happened or prevented. Just because somebody is good, love doesn't happen, as people expect in arranged marriages. Most of the people marry without love and just playing the role of spouse and parent. When they encounter love after marriage with someone else, because of societal construct, they are confused and suffer, make others also suffer. People who have nobody to love and care for will face these kind of struggles, here both Meera and Mammootty. We shouldn't invalidate or judge people's emotions based on morality. When they get a relationship they longed for years, they tend to fall for them. Without understanding, moral policing them is making the situation more worse. If society is so matured to understand and accept love after marriage, extra marital affairs would not have happened. She doesn't want to cheat him, but couldn't leave her love also.... It's very pathetic....
Vanmathi, this film is about me NOW and was made in 2007 !!!! 15 years ago !!! This is about my story which is true to 200% if not more !! So true in every way except the alcohol involvement. Unbelievable, God made me to see this film by way of acknowledgement towards my present life!!!! Oh...what a movie !!!! I watched two times already !! I am happy i found this movie.

To all those who criticise the moral side of the movie:
Love is not something which happens after a calculation and proper match making. Love just happens, just happens. Can we fall in love after thinking the prons and cons of a relationship? Can we fall in love after deciding what is right and wrong. Love just happens.
And in that love, there are obvious complications. Emotions are beyond the right and wrong.
Nobody is asking you to follow what is shown in movie in your real life.
