Great informative video. However, the best way to connect to Soundbar/ HT is the HDMI ARC. In case people are planning to buy a Soundbar/ HT, always go for the one which has HDMI ARC. Since it's digital, the audio quality will be better and no loss of quality.

Use optical cable to connect between convertor and HT. Then use coaxial. That way you will sync digitally.

Does this give 5.1 /dolby out with this setup, please find how mi 5 or 5pro having digital audio spdif out rather yhan complicated coaxial out, in vu or kodak we have digital output which helps to connect av with 5.1 surround sound, does mi 4 or mi 5 has this feature
my comment is in two parts
1 st part is = Use ARC and connect it to a AV reciever, then ur AV reciever will handle all the sound processing wheather it is 5.1 Surroung sound, ,Dts, dolby atmos etc it will get signal from ur tv and feed it to respective channel of speaker giving u that immersive experience as most streaming media platforms use at least 5.1 these days
2nd part is =
Very good info, but u r just adding 2 (stereo) external speaker with a Woofer which u call home theatre system..It basically plays left and right channel and a subwoofer making noise every time either channel has a bass in it....not a sound of a home theatre man.....what I was expecting is a setup in which there are minimum 5 channels as
1. Left
2.Right
3.centre
4.Rear left
5. Rear right
and .1 i.e. LFE (subwoofer)

Hello TechSingh, I understood connection between MI TV to (Digital to Analog) converter you have explained. But on the home theatre side I have 'Optical IN' through which I would like to connect. can we make connection between MI tv ( through SPDIF port) and Home Theatre (through Optical IN) directly without the use of converter ? Can we get such cable directly one end with SPDIF and another end with Optical Cable end (ie called as Tosca). For that digital to analog converter required ? If Yes, what kind of converter I need to use ? Hope you are clear with my queries. In your home theatre system in the video also I can see 'Optical IN'. my question is about that how to make connection with that with 'Optical IN' on home theatre system side.
I had purchased, S/PDIF (Mi 4A Pro) to Optical In (LG HT) cable, it didn't work.
Do you have any idea why Mi tv's not having Mute button in the remote.

I have done the setup as you had said and have a quick follow up question.. When I use the inbuilt equalizer on the MI TV, it doesnt seem to affect the sound which comes through the SPDIF. Do you have any workaround for this ?

Hey like that we will get only stereo output but what if we wish to get 5.1 effect surround sound from tv to directly 5.1 speakers....i have iball speaker and it has only r/w cable which u just showed...do u have any solution...and in bluetooth also u can connect but it will be stereo...
U can use 5.1 decoder like that but it cost around 3000 rs

Many people will face problems in connecting a soundbar to Mi TV using HDMI ARC. Most of these problems are because of the HDMI cable used might be an older version and not ARC compliant.
Replacing the HDMI cable with a newer version, like BlueRigger, should help.

Am using HDMI(ARC) port and to be frank it works brilliantly. We can use both TV and player remote to adjust the volume.

I am using JBL (bar studio) sound bar with MI 4a 43 inch TV. It is good for around 8k, with HDMI Arc, 3.5 Jack and also optical port. I have connected via HDMI arc. Works fine and can use the tv remote itself for volume control

Just one question. Is the rca cable convertor does downgrade the audio output 2.1 channel. Because SPDIF send 5.1 signal. And the RCA red amd white can only transmit 2.1 channel sound. So i think this will hamper the sorround sound. Sorround speakers wont work properly. Or they might run 5 speakers but same soumd will come from all the speakers.

Dude! First off, can you play anything that’s dolby encoded? I have logitech z906 that worked fine with my sony led tv because of the optical input perhaps. This tv only has hdmi and spdif. While spdif supports all the codecs that the optical input/output should, my tv just won’t. I get stereo output. I complained numerous times and xaomi people seem to have no clue of it. Hardware issue it seems, but for anyone who’s buying this tv thinking they could connect their audio that has just the optical and spdif connections should abstain

Hi, i have sony s master 5.1 speakers and they have 3.5 mm jack also my tv vu ultra has 3.5 mm jack.
My question here is should i directly connect it with 3.5 mm cable, or purchase this connector get digital out from tv using analog and then second side connect to convertor.
Now from convertor like to connected via spdif port, vu does not have that, so option left is 3.5 mm jack.
Should i buy this or directly connect. please help
