- After weeks of removing rust things are finally coming back together in this episode. One of the main things done in this video is the fabrication of a bracket that will secure the new oil catch can. I also cover what I’ve done off camera, which is a lot.

Wow! That's a ton of work for the undercarriage. On your back with a drill for hours! People forget that this ITR was a winter beater from the previous owner.
Crazy to think about. Like Using a supra to deliver pizzas
When this car came out it was completely affordable and reasonable to use as a winter beater. @@ADUSN
These cars sold for about $27K when they were new. You could buy a regular Civic for half that. Personally, I think it makes an expensive winter vehicle for the time.
Unless you're in the south or far west
Nice to see you back Eric! Type R is looking great 🔥
Please keep the type R, Eric. I trust you more than anyone to keep it on the road and in good shape. Integras are all gone now.
That's what I keep saying! It'd be a shame for this car to fall in the hands of some kid obsessed with 2002 styling and Vin Diesel.
Unfortunately I can't. I need the $ more than the car right now.
@@ericthecarguy
If I could, I'd just give you 20 grand.
@@ericthecarguy I understand, Eric. Well you've given it a good home and I trust you'll find another one for it. These cars are are hens teeth in America
@@EarlSinclair97he probably wants about double or triple that since it’s a rare car fully restored and improved on
Eric keeps extra 10mm sockets in his beard.
Nice job on the catch can brackets and install. It’s hard to find real estate under the hood sometimes. 🤔😀👍
I did EXACTLY the same on the underside of my ITR
So good to have ETCG content again! Makes me want to fettle my motor!
Great work Eric I hope you're getting paid top dollar when you sell this thing you've really gone above and beyond!
Eric's undercarriage is looking good! LOL 😛
Ah, Integra rust. I'm trying to stop my '95 from returning to the earth but it's an uphill battle.
Damn. Putting in that work dude 😮😮👍👍👌👌
Glad to see you back eric! Great work
Looks beautiful. You need to get a lift again 😂
Thank you Eric I enjoy watching your videos please keep up with the updates watching from South Africa
Erick that is short video dude you have to make them longer 😀
I will that's my dance i call that break dance 🤣👍
I've been disappointed with POR-15. I find it just peels off after a while even if ive removed rust and cleaned the area.
Did you also prep the surface? I believe degreasing is the most important part.
@@ericthecarguy I think POR sells their own brand of degreaser. Unfortunately the way they market their paint makes it seems like you can just paint it over whatever. Obviously the degreaser is necessary and I wish they would make that clear on their paint labels.
Eric, sending you love from NYC. I am so glad to see you back. Your videos make my day.
You are correct about those parts being compatible with the CR-V, element, integra, RSX, etc. I need to do the rear trailing arms on my 05 CR-V. I already did the brakes wheel, hub and bearing assemblies and much more. And if you haven’t already guessed, yes I did have to replace the rear knuckles and ABS sensors due to the bolts being seized inside the bushings as is often the case as you commented on earlier. That was very expensive.
Dude we miss your content, what happened to the shop I see you found a garage, bring them vids up!
I wish we got to see all of the work done, even if most of it was just from a tripod. I miss your long-form videos.
My Friday got SO much better! Thank you ETCG 🙏🏼
Also, and probably more important, lol cracks me up as your odd ball viewer, everyone probably bugs you about car questions and your fellow former ASE viewers like myself ask things like: EC, what's the story on the tiny Iron Pan hanging by the garage door going into the house? There's a story there, I know it!
The work you are putting into this car to sell it is, as always with you EC, nothing short of absolute Steller Work man! And I know the Struggle is REAL!
Thanks EC. For me, 40 years of Working on Vehicles come this May! I can stop typing Nearly 40 years...my working has slowed down a lot since I got CRPS in my feet and legs. I'm just not able to do this level anymore, I'm down to the easy stuff now, although I have a Transmission rebuild waiting for a clean space to do that, one last really good adventure before im completely down to oil changes, battery replacement, lube, windshield wiper blades replacement, spark plugs and Brakes, and washer fluid.... funny, it just hit me typing this, as a mechanic, I think we we End how we started as a career...I can't think of another profession that does it like that..maybe there is and I can't think of it. Interesting. That's okay, I really shouldn't say my last adventure, its not, next to the transmission, I have a '78 Dodge Ramcharger to restore, and it begins with a starter replacement, need to be able to exercise the engine, as I don't want cylinder walls to sweat too many times between runs. Although lol, that LA 318 CID by Mother Mopar can lol probably run inside the Titanic and it be just fine!
Hope there's a digital confection on May 1st, if not I'll watch a rerun. 🎂
Thank EC!
The pan was my great grandfathers. He used to cook his breakfast in it every morning. Good eye.
Good to see you back. Sad to hear you are selling the ITR. Wish I had your skills and knowledge. I would love to do these things for my Integra.
A+
Thanks mate
Omg I haven't seen your video in a while. Is that a new garage?
No, my home garage.
Notification squad Have a Great weekend!🔥🔥🔥
Loving this series! I picked up a 92 eg with a b16a swap back in December. Other than the engine, suspension was all original. Doing a full suspension overhaul and upgrade right along with ya
Beautiful! I'm about to get my EF hatch running again. Fingers crossed as it's been sitting for 8 years. Plus side is it was freshly rebuilt before parking so aside from hand turning the crank and changing fluids it should be good to go.
Good hunting!
Excellent 🔧
I like these long repair videos!
Been waiting for this. Muy bueno
Good update keep it up the good work and God bless you 👍👍👍👍
My cousin used to work at an Acura dealer. He left to work at a mini steel mill.
My nose and throat burn just looking at all that POR15. I hope you were in full PPE.
That's a A++ 🇿🇦
I bet you are missing all the creature comforts of the old shop. Do you still have the Quickjacks? Very handy tool. I got mine years ago and used your video as reference for putting it together, so thanks!
I gave the Quickjack away just after I posted the video. Thanks for the comment.
@@ericthecarguy Ahhh yeah, I remember you saying you were giving it away at some event. Thought maybe the Quickjack folk gave you 2, one for yourself and one for a giveaway. Keep up the good work in any case.
When I did catch-can testing I did not get any significant benefits for my B series. However, I do have a strange oil anomaly... When I drive from sea-level to 6 thousand feet (a hard drive, usually in summer, in 100 degree heat) My oil will be a quarter of a quart down at altitude, but when I return to sea-level, a day or two later, the oil magically returns to the previous level. Does any one know where the oil goes and how it finds its way back? I am dumbfounded because I let the Integra cool off over night and check it, but the reading in the mountains, after a long, hot, drive, is always a quarter quart low. I know the engineers at Honda are magic, but disappearing and reappearing oil???
That's weird.
@@ericthecarguy Totally weird, it has done since I purchased my old 1999 Integra. When I first noticed it, I topped off the oil. After I got home, I then had to take the oil out. The car has good oil pressure, runs great, so I do nothing but scratch my head.
EC, is that a battery next to a fuel can? (1:18) But more importantly if that is a battery, boy, get that off the concrete....course you're not charging it so, maybe it's fine? I don't like it near the gas can.
I want future EC at Home videos! You know I care! ❤
Not fuel, it's degreaser. Also, putting batteries on the floor is a myth. ruclips.net/video/MhnVZ7ZPunw/видео.html
I think it's worth buying a sandblaster if doing such a big job honestly.
I had 2, but I gave them away. ruclips.net/video/cAISAa8AxgY/видео.html
Probably had a wry neck from spending that long upside down cleaning the rust off.
Really don't want you to sell this car, Eric.
I don't want to either, but I need the $ more than the car right now.
Where did u get the bushings that you pressed into control arms. I just rebuilt front and rear upper and lower on my legend. I saved all the original ones and would like to replace all the bushings for later . I ordered front lower arms about a year ago from Acura parts warehouse they e mailed a few days after telling me that I got the last ones in the country ( bragging rights )
I must have missed where he found a new location.
I feel ya with the rust scrapping. Being in NE Ohio. You are putting tons of great work into that vechile. I'd keep it after all that. But I know you said you are taking it to auction. Keep up the great work.
Did the 98-01 B18B1s also have the catch can system? I've never seen anything like it on mine. I always thought they went away for OBDII. Did they just become ITR exclusive?
No, catch cans are not original equipment.
Haven't watched in long time last 2 videos are only too iv seen in long time what happened too the shop not that it matters just curious
ruclips.net/video/QdtThHPgcyQ/видео.html
Any news on the new garage???
If things work out, pretty soon. If not, I have other ideas to keep things going.
Eric!! I know they can’t compare, but what do you think the of the new Acura with the integra name?
Never driven one, but I hear it has a great stereo.
Absolutely no need to do that stuff to the B unless you're running a turbo. They simply don't have excessive blow-by unless your compression rings are knackered
I disagree. I shift this engine at 9000 RPM. Any engine at that RPM will create more crankcase pressure. In fact, I believe that this is the reason most B series engines burn oil, inadequate engine ventilation which allows more pressure to build up internally. I also believe this contributes to external oil leaks. So far the engine is running better than ever and I don't have any oil leaks to speak of. Thanks for the comment.
@@ericthecarguy I disagree with you. Many a track ITR here in the UK with no issues you speak of. Burning oil on these is normally gummed up oil control rings, incorrectly staggered oil control rings or oval bores.
You don't need a catch can set up unless going turbo, these motors don't need it standard N/A.
You've literally put the breather on the oil drains back from the head. Certainly not ideal.
Also, 9000rpm? Factory ECU rev limit is 8600rpm.
Milwaukee and DeWalt tools are pretty much bulletproof as long as you get the brushless type. Buy once and cry once! I’m betting you wish you could fit a car lift in there.
How do I buy this car when you get done with her Eric?
It will be going up on a new auction site inyourgarage.com I'll be making a future video about this when the auction is live.
Looks my my life of frustration, minus rust, and concrete floor... LOL
Wait it's a 6 minute video?
Aren’t to catch cans for direct injection engines only? I. E. No benefit to a nondirect injection engine.
No. Catch cans help vent the engine. Any engine, doesn't matter what type of fuel delivery system it has. Normally the system is closed, it's called the PCV system. I believe the catch can on this engine allows it to run better over the stock system.
@@ericthecarguy Thank you!
Is this baby going on cars and bids?
New auction site InYourGarage.com
Eric cheating us with these short videos. 😢
This catch can setup won't work properly. Where you installed the fittings is the oil return passage from the head. It will collect a lot of oil
So far no issues. Works great. in fact, the engine runs better than ever and the small oil leaks I had with the old PCV system are gone. Thanks for the comment.
Agreed, the PCV system on the ITR B series is more than up to the job. If you have issues with leaks, there's an underlying issue with the motor.
Im spoiled by guys like legitstreetcars and m539 restorations, your videos go by way too quick
Don’t sell it!
Wish I didn't have to.
Looking to gtfo of auto repair. Where or what should said person migrate to when they're burned out? Desperately needing to do something else.
Personally, I find long walks help me figure stuff like that out.
