Who's here after the last Late Brake Show episode? 😉🙋
Everyone
Yep!
Hello 🙂
hahaha was just about to comment the same!
👌
It's amazing how the design of this gen Corvette has aged so well. Cool looking car.
We really love the interior, its genuinely a nice interior and looking at it through a classic car eyes its well put together for the time!
Came over from The Late Brake show, really good to see how one of Johny's barn finds goes. Don't know anything about these American cars but great work on that interior
For a car that's sat outside for the best part of twenty years and has a targa top, the interior has already come up fantastically well.
Good job with the interior 👏👏 it seems like new and in a incredibly good condition after 18 years out there.
Thanks Marcos!! We think we’re lucky with the interior and agree it’s held up really well!
I always loved mean retro interior of that C4 generation
Not that we're biased but we totally agree - Love it! Thanks for watching :)
Well done lads!
Thanks! :) Getting there (slowly!)
Nice seeing a couple blokes from across the pond taking the time to save an old American classic from my teens!!!
Thanks! Definitely something different in the UK … Ordinary C4’s are scarce enough here never mind ZR-1’s!
Looking forward to seeing you guys getting it running and driving.
It is so satisfying to bring back a minging car to a more sanitary condition. Good luck with the remaining recommissioning.
Couldn't agree more, just a first clean to reduce the number of spores down a fraction!
@@Auto_Funk Will you drive it to Shetland and show it to the previous owner after all? I can hardly wait to see him cry with joy.
I’m insanely jealous of this. I’m a 42 year old American and this is my dream car. Look up WEST Corvette Japan. Their C4 ZR-1s are absolutely legendary.
The King is feeling the love!!
:D :D :D absolutely!!
I'm not massively surprised that so much stuff worked - it's from the golden age of pre-can car electronics, where most things are properly sorted, simple switches and relays. 😊
I think 90s cars are peak cars too!
A good clean is always a good morale booster for a new project
Part the reason why we did it, see whats what and make it nicer to work on. Tbh you don't want debris falling in everywhere!
Definitely, you need to get it uploaded mid week at the latest 👍👍
Multi-time Corvette owner here and ya'll are off to an excellent start! What a find in that ZR1.
Yes I am and will continue to watch the development of this car ❤
Those seats are so bloody comfortable looking, they remind me of the sierra cosworth leather Recaros as they have that really soft looking leather, now take out those seats and clean the car properly.😊
They're 100% coming out for a proper clean!
@@Auto_Funk. Good lad, I’ll be keeping my OCD eye on you guys to makes sure 👌 😳
Good work guys 💪
Thank you 🙌
New subscriber here. Loving your work lads. Not a massive yank tank fan, but this is no ordinary car eh. And I do love a good project with good presenters. I’m gonna stray from the standard comments about the origin of my following, and give you huge props on the beats on your videos. Really nice. I’ll be watching and bobbing my head along from here in. Good luck with the vet. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
What a legend, thanks for the support!! It’s certainly not a typical yank tank which is part of its charm for me as well! Glad you like the tunes on the vids ! ☺️☺️
The Late Brake Show brought me here, and I'm staying for the ride! Nice job on the cleaning, looking good already :)
You guys have a captive market right now. You'd be mad to wait 6 days before releasing this vid - assuming its finished
Once a week is fine chill out
@@cheeselouisesome are inpatient and want everything now lol
@@LFCsince93 well some are ungrateful and demanding, it is free content after all, you could always pay to be a Patreon member if they started that
The dirt protected the interior.. 😮😮😮
It might well have done to be fair! Protected it from the UV!
We reckon it was a combination of the dirt and that solar windshield, what do you think??
Excited to follow your progress... great job rescuing this King of the Hill.
Really interesting project on a very interesting car that deserves to be put right
Thanks, I reckon so too - I can’t wait to see this car finished and looking beautiful again (not to mention bringing all those lost ponies back into the stable 🐎 🐎🐎🐎🐎🐎)
New Subscriber from the Late Brake Show guys 👍👍
Welcome aboard! Thanks for the sub! 🙌☺️☺️
Because of Jonny I noticed You both with Your ZR1. I will follow You on this journey.
A steamer is great and all but it cannot break down certain types of deposits the way a general purpose cleaning agent can. Also it tends to blow dirt around while losening it.I would recommend getting a wet-vacuum aswell. It is imperative to kill off the funghi and get rid of the spores. The spores are what is dangerous inhaling. Great project and looking forward following it :)
Couldn't agree more, we are planning on a deep clean in the near future! This is just a first stage clean to make it a bit more pleasant to be around. It 100% needs a lot more.
@@Auto_Funk Great to see this is in the plan. I too came to comment about the need for the entire interior must be removed, carpet, seats, panels, and dash. Get into the HVAC piping and consider it a win the blower fan did not operate and blow who knows what in your face. There will be rodent nests and droppings as well as mold spores throughout every fiber of your ZR1. Do the car justice and go the extra mile with a fully proper decontamination. One last thing, use care when trying the steamer which can loosen the upholstery adhesives and ruin things like head liners and door trim panels (cards)
Can’t wait to see you guys get this car back to its former glory. The C4 was a proper poster car for me growing up, love them.
Thanks Tim! 🙌
Loving the car, loving the backing music.
Arrived here from TLBS just as many others have. Looking forward to following the build. I listed after Corvettes, the ZR1 in particular, when I lived in the states. The seats look so comfortable and ready for a large American arse to rest upon them for a cross country trip from New York to Los Angeles.
They're surprisingly hugging and very plush!
Great project to get involed in, and what a great start you have made. Looking forward to hearing that engine start up. Love the fact that it has Lotus links too
Thanks! Being brits we love the lotus connection as well!! 🤓
Go guys!! Greetings from South Africa!! 😂You asked for it😂😂😂!! ❤❤❤
get the grillers on the bri and pull up a chair under the lapa
Greetings from the United States. I love the work you are doing on this Corvette as I remember them when they were new. I worked at a Chevrolet dealership at the time.
I see it has the heated outside mirror option, the coating on the front windshield/windscreen suggests to me the car is optioned with the heated windshield/windscreen. This was a somewhat popular option in the northern states on certain Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, Pontiac and Oldsmobile models.
The option codes for the car can be decoded for the option code or group that will confirm this.
Great to see this car being repaired back to roadworthy condition. Keep up the great work!👍
Interesting with the heated screen! One of the beauty of american cars imo is they are built to work in Death Valley or Minnesota!
Looking good after that spring clean! Good work chaps. 👍🍻
Thanks Keith! It is a massive improvement so far…!
That's an impressive transformation! Amazing what a bit of elbow grease can do.
Thankyou :)!! Makes it a bit nicer to be around.
Wow amazing guys looks like a diffrent corvette love it what Transformation guys 👍🏽👍🏽
Thanks so much Jeff! We appreciate the support!! 🙏
Achieved a shed load. Great clean up.
Its a start and makes it much less grim to work with!
Wow that interior has come up really well.x
Thanks! It’s not bad at all given how long it has been sat!
Thanks guys. Quite refreshing to watch two normal guys bring a car back to life. Looking forward to the next episode.
Thanks Peter! Our videos will get better as we learn and grow too :) glad you are enjoying it so far!
Good work! Needs more taking apart I think. Loads of cracks and crevasses on these things.
Absolutely agree! The first clean was a quick job to get most of the loose stuff off it.. There will be a very thorough clean at some point later in the build (most likely once it’s running and driving!)
Oh man, I'm in love with this thing.
Two fella's and their Zeeeee R1 😄
I've been looking up various sites in its homeland, trying to see
what sort of money they are going for.
Someday, if I'm lucky, I'd love to have one.
Very much looking forward to following this 'Vette's adventure back
to roadworthiness and adventures in the future....
Zeeeeee RRRRR one! 🔥🔥🔥 hard to value in England but we think this one justifies a t o TLC!
Good luck,, boys. 🤞
Jonny sent me. 😄
We might need it :)!! Thank you for the support!
Thats a great find, on 1990 through 1996 C4 Corvettes including the ZR1 you can bring up codes plus do all sorts of troubleshooting via the LCD screen on the dash, I can provide a link if you need it or just search Corvette Central c4-diagnostic-trouble-codes. Good Luck with your project. also I recommend getting the factory service manual with electrical supplement, you should be able to get this on cd or a hard copy.
I'm guessing since the battery has been off they'll be all sorts of codes at the moment! Thankfully Will had a full dealership service manual that we will be making good use of! They're really detailed!
@@Auto_Funk It's good that you have the dealer manual here in the US it's referred to as FSM or factory service manual, if you have trouble finding parts in the UK try contacting Mirrock Corvette in the US, Mike from Mirrock is one of the most knowledgeable people when it comes to C4 Corvettes.
Here from LBS but I'm staying because I want to see you get this car back on the road again. But I see you have done another one so I will be watching those videos as well. Keep up the great work.
Looks like you struck gold there fella’s 👍 The interior is coming up a treat and the electrics are in amazing order considering how long it’s sat in a farm yard! Looking forward to the next episode 😆
Not a bad start eh!! Gagging to get this old beauty running and driving properly again! Thanks so much for supporting us 🙌☺️
C4 seats are so much nicer than C5 seats.
Well lads. That went remarkably well hey? A quality motor evidently. Looking forward to the next bit.
Ah man we are stoked!! Can’t wait to get cracking!! Thanks for watching!
Last year I was looking at a ZR1 engine in France, very beautiful engine, unfortunately I have no use for it so I passed. I find it amazing to find this stuff in Europe, I don't know how many were imported but it can't be too many.
Just want to say be careful spilling WD40 on paint. It acts like a thinners and will take the gloss off easily.
Otherwise I’m really looking forward to your updates, especially when you get 2 wireless mics working 😉
Also, have you thought about moving the car to a storage space where you can work on it in a little more comfort and wouldn’t need to worry about leaving it exposed to the elements if you need to leave the roof off or something like that?
We really would love to find a unit in Nottingham/Derbyshire. We're on the hunt if anyone knows of one! In its current state we figure its seen a few years outside and a couple more months wont make a lot of difference :D!
Another Late Brake Show visitor! I'd say starter solenoid, cables and contacts in that whole circuit, and potentially starter motor itself will be the issue. Voltage on the dash looks pretty low, and the dimming when turning the key suggests it's trying to fire the solenoid. Having recently had issues with an American V8 to resolve though, I'd suggest taking all the wires off the starter circuitry, clean the terminals etc and charge the battery completely, ideally even leave a booster on in case it's weak. These things have some compression and I believe have the big block starter, which is a fairly savage combination. Love the car though, enjoying your videos so far too. Really keen to see it shine, start, and do some hooning as intended. I think I saw it on ebay and was too chicken to bid, so I'll be annoyed if it doesn't need too much!
A great start, a long way to go...😊👍
It’s worth investing in a carpet / upholstery spot cleaner, it’s the only way to really remove dirt/mould from upholstery.
Also, there might be mould inside the door cards, so I would have removed them before cleaning.
Also also, get some plastic protectant spray for those plastic surfaces.
Thanks for the tips! The whole interior will be carefully stripped and every part of it will be deep cleaned! I’ve got a Bissell wet vac with lots of crevice attachments which I’ll use for the parts that are hard to reach! Thanks for the comment and suggestions 👍🏻👍🏻👌👌
Yeah, fantastic. Looking forward to the next video already 👍🏻
Watching from france , looking forward to following your progress 👍
Merci pour le subscription! 🙏☺️
Came here via the Late Brake show (which I''d never seen before last night!). Love what you're doing on this, always had a soft spot for old American stuff. Fascinated to see this restoration progress....
gotta have a staple injection of jonny smith and the late brake show regularly
When i saw the screwdriver left in the Engine bay I thought... Mark from Hills Motorsport must have been servicing this! 😂
Never heard of him but he sounds like my kind of guy!
Looking good so far. Would recommend getting that interior professionally deep cleaned to kill off the fungal spores. There's probably a lot of bio horrors lurking in the A/C and blower works too.
100% couldn't agree more. We are planning on taking the interior pretty much to bits, deep cleaning everything off the car and behind everywhere!
Subbing this. ZR-1 is a very special car. Thanks Late Brake Show for pointing me here.
Thanks for the sub!🙌🙌☺️
Enjoyed that guy's looking forward to watching you bring this beautiful Corvette C4 ZR-1 back to it's best thanks for the video 👍
Thanks Cosmos! We really appreciate the positivity and support 🙌🙌
hi here from J S looking in good luck nice car hope it runs ok can't wait have fun thank you
We hope it runs well too, hopefully we will find out soon!!🔥
I agreed. RUclips watches get bored easy. You need to churn the uploads out whilst the iron is hot. Once you have built up a fan base, then you can settle down in to a routine
Agreed!! We’re going to try and out lots of content out ASAP for you all 👌👍🏻👍🏻
Na, take your time and don't burn yourself out. Quality over quantity. Work on the thumbnails too. Need to build a wider audience, the subs you have aren't going anywhere. We know why we joined.
Proper car enthusiasts don't get bored easily
@@ant2312 they do, hence why we own loads of cars and change them often and modify/ work on them
It's always satisfying to see a mucky interior clean up well.
Great news on so many electronics still showing signs of life.
It seems like this car was built well. The electronics have mostly stood the test of time, and cleaning is working wonders.
Hey Fellas, I am loving this series. What an awesome car. I know it's in good hands.
One other thing, you need to normalise the audio a bit better, the talking parts are low and when the music cuts in, it's so loud and I have to always adjust the volume.
Can you bring the music volume right down please ? It doesn't need to be so loud.
Cheers guys.
Regards from Australia !
Thankyou for the tip, we have bought new mics so that should help massively with picking up better audio and thankyou for the kind words!
@@Auto_Funk All good buddy. Hey, I noticed the clicking of those relays inside the car. I think it may have something to do with the chewed up wiring in the engine bay. Wires are shorting out for sure.
Damned vermin can wreak havoc on cars stored outside. If only the owner encased it with a tarp or something rather than leaving it to sit like that all this time.
Yeah the relays seemed to go wild when I was trying the blower motor. So something wasn't right there!
It's an American built car of course everything is going to work!
Also enjoying the Funk part of AutoFunk, well done, nice differentiator
Great episode. Cleaning the yellow leather in my Z4 has been one of the most challenging jobs so far on its restoration.
Great work.
Never easy is it!! I’d recommend furniture clinic personally 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks, Jonny for introducing me to Auto Funk, I just Subscribed good luck with the engine guys.
Progress! ZR-1 had a wonderful voice. Better alert the neighbors before you light it off!
Ha!! The fruitier the better in my opinion! I can’t wait to hear this car running!!
@@Auto_Funk if you find a 1965 or so Plymouth or Dodge with a 426 Hemi, go for it. A neighbor had one. Glorious voice. Rumor had it US armed forces on NATO assignments brought some over. Jay Leno has one, of course.
It's so nice to see Olive from On The Buses again... I'm only kidding. New sub, looking forward to seeing how you get on. You might want an ozone generator in the cab though, given bleach is not a good idea on leather. That mould will be all in the heater ducts and will fly out in spores when you start the blower.
Yeah! Couldn't agree more. We want to avoid using bleach where possible as you're right, could cause damage to the surfaces! Planning on taking a lot of the interior apart and cleaning it off the car.
Great work guys on the interior! Relays are always a beast!.Anyways will be awaiting next video!!
Great work
Thank you! Cheers!
Top job Boys, keep them coming. What a Iconic car. Amazing👊
Nice job guys, The ZR1 is cleaning up a treat 🙂
This will be a great project! Keep it coming lads.
What a lovely car!
Thanks! We’re hoping it’s going to be beautiful when it’s completed 😃😃🙌
@@Auto_Funk No doubt it will be! Looking forward to see further episodes!
New subscriber here! Great project car and great likeable presenters! Can’t wait for the next episode
Thanks Craig!! We really appreciate you coming aboard! 👌😃
Looking forward to the next episode.Fingers crossed you get the car started👍
Nice start guys
Agree, work with what you've got there!!
Looks amazing
Ey up.
Come over from The Late Break Show. 👍🙂
Thanks ☺️
This going to be an interesting ride. That car looks so good because we live in a work of identicars
“People are gonna think that we’re BS’ing” 😂 love it!!
Subscribed!
😅😅😅 true though!
Really satisfying to see this car clean up 👍 love your video's so far, keep it up 💪🏼
Good work boy's 💯
Thanks 🔥
Look forward to following the progress of this boys!
that bolt longer than lord of the ring ,no worry, i fast forward it🤣
Looking forward guys to seeing the transformation 👍🏽😎 Great job already !
Coming soon!😻😻🫡
Wow, impressive! Almost all of the electronics work! Amazing car, well done.
Really surprised myself!! Unbelievable actually! And they reckon American cars are rubbish! Pah!
Great video guys , just subscribed after I saw this on late brake show and thought it would be a interesting series to follow , what a lovely car it’s going to be can’t wait for the next one , good luck guys 👍👍
Thankyou for the support :)!!
amazed how well it has come up
Thanks Mike! We were surprised as well!
the ZR-1 is one tough bastard ,you will get it running in no time👍
It’s looking really well preserved, I know it’s not anywhere near clean enough yet, but it’s great start 👍🏻, looking forward to hearing this roar 😊
Cracking second part guys. Yes a lot of cleaning and effort to get the interior looking a hell of a lot better then what it was first like. Like you said it's still not properly cleaned yet but Roman wasn't built in a day. Plus I dear say you were getting sick of spraying and rubbing all that dirt off. Looking forward to your next stage in the restoration of the car.
+1 on the washing machine detergent … just did an old Mini R56 JCW with tiny ammount of detergent in water and rotatory brush in a power drill… came up unbelievably well.
Excellent!! I need to get one of those rotary brushes…. My brother in law is a detailer and he swears by them! Thanks for watching! 🙌
Awesome guys you must be stoked!
Great viewing appreciate the 'funky' music roll on part3
The ratchet for the targa top looks like Snap On, without the logo.
It could well be, it feels very high quality.
Amazing work on the interior. You must be buzzing on how it came out
Over the moon! Other than cleaning we're hopeful there isn't a lot to do in there and we can focus on the oily bits!
