MGB with Weber DCOE and Long Branch Manifold

- This is example of how the MGB engine with a stock camshaft may run using a Weber DCOE side draft carb. This clearly shows that this engine is not running evenly on all 4 cylinders. The Engine Analyzer is being used to kill individual cylinders at different engine speeds. At idle and intermediate speeds, the 1 and 4 cylinders are not delivering the same power as 2 and 3. Then at the higher engine speed, they get a little more even, but still not the same. Obviously this engine is not happy with this carburetor. This video is the same car with a different carb and no other changes. Weber DGV with automatic choke is the best way to go when replacing a SIngle Stromberg. The auto choke version is jetted much nicer than the manual choke carb.

The Weber Carb isn't the problem, the intake manifold is.
Great video
Excellent demo of port robbing.
Is this a function of jetting or a mismatch of the Weber 45 to a stock engine and cam.
What is the remedy other than installing the proper SUs. ?
Change the manifold
What was the solution?
Intake manifold
Cannon Long Branch Manifold. The TWM or Derrington version with curved inlets works much better.
Also I had good results with a Pierce manifold
@@integr8er66 Pierce bought up a lot of TWM stock, but I believe the current Pierce manifold is a short branch.
I'm currently tuning my dcoe on my spitfire and have found that the right barrel that feeds cylinders 1 and 3 (firing order #) cannot be adjusted by the idle adjust needle meaning that the jet that feeds those cylinders is not functioning. I switched the jets to the other sides and the problem follows the cylinders to 2 and 4. Have the jet in solvent to see if i can get contaminates out of the 45F9 jet. If not you can buy a new pair for $20.
