Most-hated characters from other seasons: Cersei, Joffrey, Ramsay, Theon, Meryn Trant, The Mountain, Pycelle, Viserys, Roose Bolton, Janos Slynt... Most-hated characters this season: THAT LITTLE SHIT OLLY
I was coming around to Alliser Thorne, thought he wasn't even that bad and he seems to be one of the main instigators. I hope the giant squishes them both
Carlos Fermín Olly's parents died to the wildings. Jon made peace with the wildings. Olly has the most right to be mad out of all the watch. Jon will be healed by Melisandra. If not he will become like Bran and be able to become Ghost. Read the books before complaining :P
Tywin Lannister Lol when they mentioned Benjen in the recap I honestly got excited because, why would they mention it unless he was coming back? Turns out they just needed us to remember him just to fuck with us.
Tywin Lannister I was hoping against Hope that D & D would change the dynamics and let Jon escape. We All Knew it was coming, .. but didn't want to believe or even see it. M heart is so broken ... ;'-(
Beholder505 yes exactly! Perhaps each of the prior episodes should have shown one character in particular more so over the others with like an extra 10-20 mins so we could take everything in more. This was the weakest yet most important season so it really is upsetting...
Beholder505 Totally agree. They did this last season and it fucked up all the pacing. I personally think they need to have the chapters close up across episode 9 and 10. Throwing in 5 minutes scenes concluding all the story arc's just makes me want to get the episode over and done with.
***** actually you could see where the rocks hit her and they began to bleed after, which is realistic to a point. Blood doesnt always just come pouring out.
***** I disagree about the finale (I thought it was good), but I feel like they shoved the whole season into the last episode which deprived the other episodes of action.
pato Nah then EVERYONE would be in danger. I hope the Wildlings sack the wall though. Hopefully some Thens survived and can eat those fucking traitors.
love how Varys always just materializes outta nowhere lol with him and Tyrion on Danny's small council, plus 3 dragons..she'll will be virtually unstoppable 😊
Margaret Garside It's a joke and reference to fight club hey theres been crazier theories like varys is a mermaid or roose bolton is a skin changing vampire
The least D&D could of done was to show an on screen death of the Mannis, like seriously one of the most important characters in the series and he gets an off screen death?
I bet he is alive! She even said the words and everything. How stupid would that be. She should have stuffed a bag with snow and put Stannis's head in it and ran off.. Well ! I guess she could trade Stannis for Sansa though, but whatever
We need an edited version of this entire season where ollie dies in the first episode and cut out of every scene after or replaced by a boy sized black bar
0:25 "There were scenes we've anticipating for so long ." Of course, D&D, Killing Stannis. Your sweaty fan-fantasy moment come true. FUCK YOU, David Benioff. Oh, by the way. Stannis's last line was sooooo [book] Stannis. Thanks for that at least.
Pierin24 They didn't showed his death though... Maybe they pulled a "Brienne's hanging" with his death-sceen. "Do your duty!" Maybe it moved a string in Brienne that her duty is to protect Sansa, and not her revenge...
Pierin24 If Stannis is really dead this completely contradicts Stannis burning Shireen. Book Shireen is still alive at the Wall for fucks sake!!!! Is book Stannis going to be the sole survivor from the battle, run back to the Wall, burn Shireen then go back and try to capture Winterfell again only to die? D&D have completely butchered Stannis.
Evija3000 Considering the amount of dumb deux ex machina and random encounters that happens on the tv show (see Brienne Story) it's gonna be more than enough :)
Evija3000 Considering Daario has tracking skills, I would guess they would eventually come across the circle of horse footprints. With Jorah's knowledge of the Dothraki, after finding the ring in the center, Jorah could probably recognize that it was a Dothraki formation used to capture Daenerys.
***** I guess they'll make it look like it. But to be honest if they're so good at the things you mentioned they wouldn't need a ring to know what has happened. It would be obvious.
Jon Snow is not dead. He is the entire premise of this show. The one thing George R R Martin asked Benioff and Weiss before agreeing to do the show was "who do you think Jon Snow's mother is?" That whole plot line, and obviously a very, very important one to the ENTIRE series, had not even yet been addressed. No way he's dead. He is the ice in A Song of Ice and Fire.
Justin Gentry if you think this ends the classic way of one hero being the premise of the show, you're drunk, and haven't paid attention to the writing style of GRRM.
liam henderson While GRRM is famous for breaking with tropes and conventions, I don't think he's gonna break this one, what with all the associated plot threads left dangling. With Ned it was a natural conslusion of his arc. Same for Rob, Catelynn and Oberyn. There is nothing natural about Jon's fate from a storywriting perspective.
No I'm sorry but this bullshit Why STANNIS YOU FUCKING BUTCHERED HIM, I LIKE THE BOLTON'S BUT HE SHOULD HAVE WON !!! Stannis is a fucking Boss In the books.
Stannis is supposed to be this excellent military commander and he marches straight into Winterfell? W.T.F.? Nice job D&D....pretty much telling us how Daario and Jorah will find her...
rht785 Unless he is actually aware that he is commiting suicide? Which I think it's precisely the point. He murdered his daughter, his wife killed herself, he lost half of the troops and the respect of the men who served him and his new God abandoned him after making him do all that. I mean, I'm pretty sure he knew he was going to die.
Ludo Kressh -.- He said he would either take Winterfell or die trying. Stop trying to blame D&D for your own stupidity. If you can't understand why he kept marching, then there's no hope for you.
Jon is released from his vow. My prediction : Early in season 6, Mellisandre will bring back Jon to life. He will then ride to Winterfell with the wildings.
MinecraftSik Too predictable. he will most likely be revived not by melisandre but by a "one-time magical event" in the same way that Daenery's survived the fire and hatched 3 dragons at the end of season 1.
xxjareexx finally some one who is smart why the hell anyone be happy to inbreed and bastard? unless you are Targaryen that scene was STUPID Jamie and Myrcella are Andals and worship the faith this does not make any sense.
***** So now its basically the Lannister/Tyrells who can't even control religious nutjobs within the borders of their city and Danerys-who got kidnapped by Dothraki.
Some thoughts: Cersei's storyline coupled with masterful acting from Jonathan Price as the high sparrow consistently delivered. However other elements such as Arya's storyline, whilst entertaining, moved too slowly and yielded little reward in the way of viewer satisfaction. Also, the decision to paint Stannis as a daughter murderer baffles me and seems like it was made for the sake of shock value. With all the build up to Sansa/Theon's storyline the jump seemed almost comical, where after all their suffering there was no catharsis. It seems as if the show-runners are killing of as many characters as possible in order to achieve greater focus next season. However, why ruin/kill off plausible characters such as Stannis the audience is heavily invested in and keep ridiculous, cringeworthy figures such as the Sand Snakes? All in all, whilst episode 8 was one of the standout moments in the entire show, season five felt rushed and one that merely sought after shock value. However I am hopeful for season 6 with Cersei's storyline looking solid and the Tyrion/ Varys duo consistently entertaining. I just pray that the show-runners appeal to more than shock value next time round.
AsianCommunication I'm not entirely sure Stannis is dead, at least not yet(and no I'm not a Stannis fan). Sure Brienne swung her sword but it didn't sound like she hit flesh and they always show either the death or the corpse afterward, which is something they would definitely do for someone as important as him. It also seems out of character for Brienne to execute a wounded man to me. Either way I think it's pointless to speculate and will just wait for S6. They'll clear it up then.
AsianCommunication In the Inside The Episode the show runners described George R R Martin telling them about the daughter murder scene so they didn't create it for shock value its George R R Martin's decision not theirs. Also on your other point, in this one they said that Sansa and Theon "find the strength to keep on" which heavily implies that they didn't kill themselves since that would be pretty contradictory.
***** I suspect he might be alive. Considering how long it's been snowing at Winterfell, I reckon there must have been a very neat cushion of snow at the bottom of that wall.
My only complaint was having Stannis killed offscreen by Brienne. That was really stupid. His ending seemed very rushed. Justice was not done to Stannis by D&D.
MG8256 Hell yeah, and that's the beauty of this franchise. If his bathtub stays filled purely with fan-substances, then everything is going according to plan and the franchise still owns us both in book form and TV.
Winterfell music theme is soo very much nostalgic but like the nostalgic sad that makes you feel sad like you are the one who has suffred all the sadness of the children of the forest along with all possible sadness and nostalgia of the history of the North put together in music form
Jamie McGrath Agreed. They never actually showed him die on screen so I don't believe he is dead at all. And what's up with D&D giving Brienne so many glory moments? First they have her defeat the hound in the show and now this? I was hoping that the woman Stannis found hanging would be Brienne instead of his wife. At least that would have been somewhat accurate.
Cassidy Leonards Might be that the previous actress was'nt very good. She was what, 10 when they casted her, and she had what 3 lines in x seasons? Might better a better cast. Plus she did well, so i'm okay with that.
Pffft. All she did was make out with a pretty boy - who also didn't do shit - and bleed out of her nose -_-. And be an indignant teenager because "Boo hoo! I love him daddy!"
razgaros The character or the actress? I'm not putting any sort of blame on either of them. My point was and continues to be that for a supposed expand role the character did next to nothing. But she literally did nothing previously so I guess doing next to nothing is an expansion.
"There were scenes we have been anticipating for so long." Yeah Stannis's death. D&D should have cast themselves as the two Bolton soldiers that attacked Stannis before Brienne found him. What a colossal wreck of writing that we witnessed with how Stannis's story went these last two episodes.
Three questions: 1) Why did Alliser Thorne let Jon and the wildlings through the gate? His betrayal makes no sense at all. 2) How the hell are Daario and Jorah supposed to find Dany? She flew away on a dragon, she could be anywhere. Don't tell me they're going to find that ring, the chances of that are astronomical. 3) Am I supposed to believe that Sansa and Theon survived that jump? Are you telling me that the snow somehow broke their fall?
Pulsar77 1: Because he wanted to seem, he is loyal to the Lord Commander. And he has already planned out the murdering at night, surrounded by his men. 2: Are you kidding me? Of course they want to find her, or just do anything. What do they supposed to do? Sitting in Mereen, and eat grape? If there is a little chance to find her, they have to try. 3: Yes, it's like 2 metres deep snow, it's not very likely, but it is possible. It's far better than Ramsay's vengeance, that's for sure.
Orshabaal 1) Everybody will know he betrayed Jon, and now he'll have to deal with a pissed-off army of wildlings, including a friggin giant. 2) I asked how they are SUPPPOSED to find her. She could've flown to the other side of the world for all they know. Staying in Meereen would be more sensible, because the chance of her coming back is far greater than the chance of finding her;
1: No, no one will know surely. If you have watched carefully, literally no one likes Jon in Castle Black (except Sam, but he isn't in Castel Black), so they can say anything about Jon's death (If Thorne did'nt let in Jon to the castle in front of the whole pack of wildlings, that's an open betrayal, which cannot be denied at all). 2: They saw Drogon flew towards north, that's more than enough for 2 men, who are in love with Daenerys. And they left Tyrion behind, if Daenerys would come back. It's not absolutely the reasonable choice, it's the choice of emotions. And I can totally understand that.
And can see your point about 1) in the books is was explained better, because Jon gave a lot of responsibility to the Wildlings such as First Builder and training the troops. One of the builders suggesting sealing the gate but Jon refused saying they'd be as good as blind (role switched in series). Plus tension shown in the show for the Wildlings being let threw only made more of the brothers go against Jon and support Thornes stabbing. 2) I'm only seeing parallels with Pippin dropping the fellowship break which Aragorn finds, Daario = Aragorn :O 3) 6ft of snow, they're gunna hope it snowed that morning for fresh snow rather than iced over snow. Oh wait it had begun to thaw xD
Pulsar77 "Oh, look we have an episode of Game of Thrones. Now, let's not talk of which things were good, let's just nitpick every possible thing for no apparent reason other than that I'm an annoying book purist who can't handle change in an adaptation"
Cornelis Mollberger - All of them are now caught up to their storylines now. Bran actually has a bit more they could've done, but they'll probably put it in season 6. Since the actor is coming back.
I liked his story and he had pretty cool power, i hope he will return in next season, now he is the oldest Stark.I was hoping that some of Stark family at some point would be reunited and now most of them are dead.
Carlos Fermín "We must offer a sacrifice to the Lord of Light to bring back Azor Ahai. Bring forth Olly." "But Lady Melisandre, he has no king's blood!" "He is the sacrifice for the viewers at home **wink wink**" Ah, if only...
***** Pretty sure she's realized that Stannis isn't Azhor Azhai or whatever anyways and that Snowboy's the real deal. She probably rushed back to the Wall asap
I felt every stab in this episode, every death. When the season was finished I was surprised not to find any blood on me, because I swear it hurt so much to see these characters die.
esham blazer I know, maybe because I knew the stabbing was coming him getting stabbed to make me feel anything plus you would end the season on a higher note
Furys Shot Because that might well be just fan theory? All the warging thing. Anyways, I have strong hope that Mellisandre will resurrect him next season. Finger crossed
In retrospect, starting from the first episode, I thought white walkers were "the ultimate evil" and humans were the "good guys". I was so naive back then.. but after watching so many righteous, inherently good characters get betrayed, tortured and murdered in cold blood, all in the name of avarice and thirst for power, I feel *nothing but hate in my heart*, and I can only hope and cheer for the white walkers to finally show up and cleanse all the filth from the 7 kingdoms! You know that old saying "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain"? Well, I've watched GoT long enough to end up cheering for the White Walkers. lol!
aboud hajhassan This exact phrase yeah, but the idea is not new. The original saying went like "He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you", but that's a mouthful.
I love how George R.R Martin, take influences from history, that Jon Snow shanking scene was straight out of the Shanking of Caeser and that last "Ollie" moment totally an "Et tu Brute?" from Shakespeare.
Zoozoo Mall I really think he's dead, and HBO didn't show us only to make us wonder and come up precisely with these theories that you've came with haha. However, I do hope you're right sir!
Bashman11 theyre not allowed to reveal such details. so they got to fake it for interviews. or do you also believe jon snow is really dead? kit harinton said that he's truly dead and not coming back to the show. thats obviously bull just like liam saying stephen dillane is gone.
It's so heartbreaking, Jon Snow's death. It really caught me off guard after all he'd survived through.. And I feel like I saw his eye colour change? Or is it just hopeful thinking..
The thing about Game of Thrones is that it's a vast and multithreaded story. As such it can be hard to understand how something came to happen unless you followed it closely, making it seem like some deaths were gratuitous when in fact were a long time coming. Overall a very well executed, well plotted show. Good job!
So, Let me get this straight HBO. One of the greatest military leaders in Westeros, Stannis. The man who survived the siege of Storm's End for an entire year with only one soldier defecting, invaded and claimed Dragonstone by commanding from his flag ship, Went to the Iron Isles and gave Victorian Greyjoy his biggest defeat and cleared the whole Sunset Sea of Ironborn while also taking Great Wyck. THIS military genius who induces more loyalty from his men than any man and has successfully beaten the iron born AT SEA, lost half his men and all his horses AND his attack plan to taking Winterfell was to march his meek number of troops into open field and dig trenches!? Get the fuck out of here! I can let a lot of the show's decisions slide but this is the one scene that annoyed me.
Bobs Black I understand plot devices but I also understand character. As I said and explained, Stannis is a military genius. They've said this in the show and books with reminisces of his past glory. Yes, citizens of Westeros believe Stannis is being controlled by the red women. But, Stannis' decisions are his own. You still haven't proposed a good argument for why a genius who has defeated Targaryens and the Ironborn at sea, the one place everyone doesn't want to fight ironborn, would march his outnumbered troops into an Open field and have his plan be "dig trenches." Yes, he had to move due to the winter. But as I displayed, Stannis is a patient man. He ate rats during the Siege of Storm's end until Davos brought onions and when he found his brother's heirs were products of incest, unlike Ned who pouted and threw a tantrum until he grew a foot shorter. Stannis was in Dragonstone gathering men for an inevitable war with the Lannisters. So again, why would this military genius and patient man march his outnumbered troops into open field and dig trenches?
Bobs Black Actually, Stannis never believed he was Jesus before A Game of Thrones. So, no, when he was eating rats and kicking Ironborn and Targaryen ass he just believed he was still Stannis Baratheon. Tywin says Stannis "hired a shadowbinder from Asshai" in Tyrion's last chapter when Stannis was still assembling his army for battle. (I believe they even mentioned this in the first season) Sure you could say, the lost of his family made this patient genius rash. But again, you're going to tell me his plan all along when he left Castle Black was to march out into open field with his army to take Winterfell? I think Stannis would know well, how defensible Winterfell is and how a full on assualt might not be in his favor especially during the Winter! Even a military novice like Daenarys knew she had to use some trickery to take Meereen, by letting her men invade through a river of shit.
Bobs Black Well, in the case of King's landing, you have to remember his plan was a two pronged attack with him attacking by Sea and land with a giant host. Which he lost because he didn't see Tywin turning back from the Northern front with the Tyrells. As for Winterfell, you're assuming a lot of things such as Bolton knowing he lost his men and changing strategy, and that Stannis wasn't thinking clearly since the show never detailed his plan before departure. While I'm sorry to bring up the books since the show is different, but in the books we know Stannis' goal to take Winterfell by him using the army he gathered from Wildlings bending the knee, The northernmen Jon suggested he find to bolster his numbers, survivors of the Five King War and by Houses of the North who dont want to be ruled by the Boltons such as the Karstarks, Umbers, Glovers and Mormonts. (Around +3,000 men to what he had after he left the wall) And inside Winterfell, we know Stannis has allies such as House Manderly who fed the Bolton Bannerman a feast of Frey Pies, and A particular group of Wildlings. He amassed quite an Army in the books. Winter is still killing his men and he's burning people for better weather but his men are still loyal nevertheless. If you compare this to the show, Stannis is a fool. I understand the Show is different but lets look at what Stannis has done in the show. I understand time is a factor for Hour nuggets but what Stannis has done in the show since his defeat of King's Landing. Is take what was left of his host to the wall, defeat the wildlings and then made those who bent the knee to him join combat then marched to Winterfell. While in the books, hes amassed not just wildlings but many houses. The wildlings don't know combat, they're very untrained which is why they were repelled from the wall even with their large horde rather easily. Even if a 1/10 of them joined Stannis he'd still be outmatched by the Bolton Bannermen and he'd know this. So, he was an idiot when he left or became rash from burning his family? Was he depending on Melisandre to do some Sorcery to help him take Winterfell? This would all be speculation. The show didn't do a good job cementing Stannis' character this season to either show he has a Jesus complex and thought he could take on Bolton's men outnumbered in seige or open combat (which is a little hard to say, because the show hasn't made mention of the Azor Ahai prophecy yet and Stannis doesn't even have 'Lightbringer') or if he had become impatient and rash after burning his family, which is your strongest point one could deduce. But you have to admit his character was mishandled. If D&D wanted to show he was impatient or Rash a simple soldier going "But meeting them in open field is not wise My Grace, we've lost half our host." and Stannis going "I dont care" could of solidified that point.
Bobs Black In a single day,(10 minutes screentime) he looses his daughter, his wife, and half of his army (and lets not forget, from 20 good men and a super villains who moonwalks skirtless and without a scratch after every battle0),he battles a battle we dont see and dies from Brienne, who just walks near him, just like with Sandor.Lets say that they dont hate the character and they dont overrated Daenerys. Why have Stannis for 7 episodes on the Wall? Why not at least have all of this downfall on 3-4 episodes, since he appeared on them any way.We dont cry because they change the books,we cry because the changes are stupid and lazy.Nice example you gave on the last sentence, very sophisticated, but season 5 was a joke, and not only for Stannis fans. They cant write. If they stop following the books at all this show will be full of cliches and plotholes. And lets see what the big (not)shocking momment will be on Se6Ep9.
Bobs Black I went back and watched the scenes in question you directed me to. Yes, Davos suggested Stannis returns back but the timing is different. When Davos suggests Stannis to turn back it's because 20 Bolton men snuck in and burned their part of their food storages and seige equipment. Davos suggests unless there's a fall (or break in the storm) they'd have no chance of beating the Boltons and scarcely enough food to make it to Castle Black. That's when Stannis sends him back to the Wall to order Lord Snow for more support. Congrats! BUT! Stannis hadn't lost any men in the fires (unless you count the guardsmen he sent to be hanged) or the amount was so minimal his advisors didn't need to tell him. So, Winterfell was still winnable with his men. As for the "Fall" Davos told him wouldn't come. We know by burning Shireen, there was indeed a break in the storm and the weather favored him again. So, Stannis had a "plan" to take winterfell that was plausible. But in the show, we see his plan all along at the end was to march into open field and dig trenches for a seige, in winter. The scene I suggested where would be advised to turn back would be after all his men deserted him and the plan he was devising would no longer work. So, my points still stand. And please, I'm not embarrassed. I will look back and admit my mistakes. But you have to admit a plan to go out into open field and dig trenches was a horrible mishandling of character.
And so concludes season five of Amateur Writing Hour, with Benioff and Weiss. I could not be more disappointed with how you have handled these wonderful books.
Here's my theory... spoilers if I'm right: Kit Harrington has said he's not returning to the series. But I remain convinced that the character of Jon has to return in SOME way... he's been made out to be too important an character with too much mystery regarding his birth, he's been marked by the Night's King, etc... so he has to return. It just might not be in a way that requires Kit Harrington. I initially thought that Stannis probably isn't dead. Maybe he fights back against Brienne or something, and takes Oathkeeper and uses it to fulfill the Azor Ahai/Lightbringer prophecy. Except I can't imagine any way that he would have pulled Oathkeeper from the flames... unless he burned Brienne's body and pulled it off her pyre... but I don't know. It doesn't quite seem right. That's when it hit me... maybe there's a reason Stannis and Jon have died at roughly the same time. Maybe Melisendre's visions of Stannis defeating the Boltons and fighting the White Walkers HAVEN'T been false... maybe she just didn't understand the full context of those visions. I'm thinking that maybe Jon's soul (Azor Ahai) gets transferred to Stannis' body. The Night's Watch is probably gonna burn Jon's body. So Melisendre won't have a body to resurrect... UNTIL... Ramsay gets all "Haha, look at your dead "king"!" and sends Stannis' body to the Wall. Melisendre then takes his body and resurrects Azor Ahai (Jon's soul) into Stannis' body. Stannis/Jon/Azor Ahai then pulls Longclaw from Jon Snow's funeral pyre: a sword from the flames. Lightbringer. This explains why both Jon and Stannis have been made out to be such important characters and both seem to be tied to the Azor Ahai prophecy. It explains why Melisendre has seen Stannis defeating the Boltons and fighting the White Walkers... because his BODY will be doing these things, it just won't actually be Stannis. It'll be Jon/Azor Ahai IN Stannis' body. It explains why Stannis has had such bad luck, even though he's been seemingly a part of this great hopeful prophecy... because Stannis' part in this prophecy is that he was only ever meant to die and leave his body behind. And when you take into consideration everything that Melisendre and Jaqen H'Gar have said: Death is actually good in this world. Death is a gift. It's a release from the struggles of life. There's only one hell, and it's the world they're living in now, so dying and passing on from this world is going to a better place. Shireen being sacrificed was actually good, Selyse hanging herself was actually good, because Stannis was going to die soon anyway. Now they can all be together as a family in the afterlife. I think that's ultimately the resolution of Stannis and his family's story. They suffered all through life and now death is their reward... their "gift". Jon, on the other hand... he still has unfinished business. He is Azor Ahai, and he'll be resurrected in Stannis' body. This will fulfill the prophecies of "Stannis" becoming King and defeating the White Walkers, but we'll know that it's actually Jon inside.
AWS Vids as horrible as that may be I guess it is better than nothing - I can't imagine Jon without Kit Harington though, I don't know if that could ever work on the show like that, at least not for me
AWS Vids As much as I would LOVE to have Jon back in any way possible, I really think this is just the writers forced to help Martin out. Martin knows that his books are going to take a serious hit even if they are slightly different from the show. But now the show has done something that pissed off SO many viewers that Martin can write Jon as still being alive and attract way more to his books now.
MsLm97 Well, Stephan Dillane certainly ain't the looker that Harrington is, so on a superficial level, I guess people wouldn't be happy with that. But I'd be interested to see Stephan Dillane actually do his take on the Jon Snow character. He's been a bit limited by Stannis' non-emotional personality, it'd be interesting to see him do another personality. On a story level, I think it works exactly the way that GoT/ASOIAF usually works... you get what was foretold/foreshadowed, just not quite the way you thought.
gwbloser I don't think Martin is letting the show affect his writing much, if at all. He has a plan and has had it since long before the show started. He'll be sticking with it for the most part. He did mention that he recently came up with a new twist that he hadn't thought of before that he may do, and it's one that the show can't do... I guess we'll have to wait to find out what that is, but I don't think it has to do with Jon. I think the Jon/Azor Ahai story is too central and over-arching to the entire series for Martin to be changing it from what he originally envisioned.
Jean-philippe Poirier the battle of ice.. another casualty brought to you by the D&D idiots who have ruined the whole story... i expected a big battle like blackwater bay ..instead a big dissapointment.
rht785 So you wanted the whole episode taken up by the battle for winterfell.... meanwhile there are like 5 other character archs that need to be resolved as well before the season ends..... Yeah, that's why you don't run the show... idiot.
In a lot of these video's D&D always says like "this was the moment we've been waiting for" and this is exactly their problem. They just want to recreate the shocking and exciting moments from the books without looking at what caused those moments to take place and instead of incorporating the human aspects of the books into the show. This is apparent especially when you hear how they simply describe Jon Snow's character and how he is the "good guy" Allister is the "bad guy"
honestly the stannis arc this season was so pointless. infact everything revolving around winterfell seemed terribly written and lazily executed. Theon inside winterfell at the begining of the siege (in the books) are quite possibly my favorite chapters in the whole series. The paranoia, backstabbing and murder being commited inside the castle was quite simply amazing. Opposite of the bolton side, Ashas caputre and march with stannis' army and her witnessing the slow destruction of his army was captivating and we could gleam a few bits of information on how stannis will use the elements and terrain for his advantage. In the books Stannis is a brilliant millitary tactician who would NEVER have lost the way he did today, bringing his troops out into open terrain when they have no horses is incredibly stupid. Its truly saddening that the show runners chose to leave out 90% of the events and characters present in the north durring a dance with dragons seems lazy (wyman mannerly, the freys, mance rayder, barbrey dustin, asha greyjoy) those are just a few characters they left out in order to include the fucking sandsnakes, and other pointless events. And the icing on the cake was the way in which stannis died. Sorry for the long post, but i needed to get this out
Well GOT fans.. This was one hell of an emotional roller coaster. So let's list a few of what happened & What might happen this & Next season. Stannis: Was thinking, If only I would have listened to Ser Davos Seaworth. Sansa-Theon: Both or one is Dead or Crippled. Going to be flayed or Saved? Ramsey: Probably mad.. Reek & Sansa are missing, Also his favorite sex toy is dead. Arya: She is finally starting to learn what it means to truely be no one. Daenerys: Looks like she found another Khal to marry. Tyrion: I'm thinking he is going to solve this meereen problem & Many others. He never let's us down. Varys: He needs to introduce Young Griff to Tyrion. Also more screen time for him hopefully. Jamie: Was happy for a few days, Now? I think Jamie & Cersei both are about to tear some shit up! Cersei: I think she is going to burn KingsLanding down with wildfire, Or send for a lannister army to kill everyone & The faith militant inside the city. John Snow: Really Sam?.. Dam you ollie!!! Fooking Alliser Thorne.. My last hopes in GOT are that D&D will introduce Young Griff, Randyll Tarly, Victarion & Euron Greyjoy in season six. Since so many characters have died, Hopefully we will receive someone to call hero.
Aegon VI, The prince that was promised i think D&D will provide the boltons with apache helicopters and abrams tanks the way the show is going that would not surprise me .
rht785 Its leaning that way, D&D.. Turns out Ramsey is azor ahai/ targaryen. White walkers are going to help the Boltons claim the throne. One can almost predict the plot by now. Just assume, 90% of the time good will lose to evil in GOT almost every time.
"She has every right to do what she's about to do" No, she hasn't. The only ones who have the right to execute Stannis would be Roose Bolton, as both warden of the north and lord of winterfell, or Tommen as the king. Also, Renly was not the "rightful king of the andals, the rhoynar and the first men". He WAS a usurper. Even if people didn't want Stannis on the throne, it should have passed to him by rights of inheritance
Bobs Black I ask you the same question, why is everyone so fucking stupid on youtube? If you had any idea about medieval judge customs, you'd know that Brienne had no right to play judge In addition to that, "do your duty" were shtannis' "last words" (which is a northern custom and brienne is a stormlander, another piece of bullshit on which the writers spent no thought on), he said it after brienne judged him guilty, which means that he did NOT give her permission research your bullshit first, before you talk shit
Bobs Black she swore an oath to protect Renly with her life. If you pay very close attention, you might notice that Renly is dead and she's not. She swore that she would avenge Renly to Catelyn, who has no real power and does not have the ability to grant her the right to play judge. Whether Shtannis is welcoming his death or not doesn't matter, because the law is the law (which makes Shtannis an even worse character when you compare him to the Stannimal) In retrospect, the Shtanns-plotline was great, except the last two episodes, which completely 180'ed his character I won't drop down to your niveau and end this here, have a pleasant day
Stannis's storyline, like Stannis' actions- were all for nothing. what a waste of time and audience investment. we followed this guy around the world and back again, thru battles just for a inglorious and insignificant death, plus his whole murdering of his daughter thing. Why bother keeping him alive at the blackwater at all!?!?!?! these producers need to understand we as audience member don't want to follow all these threads for no reason, we want to be satisfied it was worth the journey. they really fucked up several storylines this year- as soon as they swayed from the source text but hey- it proves the notion- "if you could write like GRR Martin, you'd be GRR Martin."
or rather: "if you could have written Game of Thrones- you'd have written Game of Thrones...." heres hoping they leave it to the professional next year.
Le- Minh It was not for nothing. 1. Brienne of Tarth got her revenge 2. We get to know Melissandre and her religion because of it. (The red god vs the great other behind the wall) 3. He made a huge sacrifice with His daughter, which results are yet unknown (only death can pay for live) 4. without him, Melissandre would not have met Jon Snow. 5. Jon snow gets killed, stannis gets killed, but Melissandre abandons Stannis for Jon. A great sacrifice has been made, but did not yet show off its full results. Stannis was necesarry to get Jon do his thing with the wildlings and gets released from his oath for the nights watch.
Le- Minh Clearly D&D thinks we're all just mindless idiots. GRRM is a genius & his story is amazing. D&D are just shitting all over it. I truly believe GRRM cares about his readers, where D&D only care about money.
Le- Minh Because this whole situation was still important? He took out the wildlings, for example. Just because he didn't win doesn't make his whole arch useless. If that was the case, then I guess Ned shouldn't have been a character? Joffery? Rob? Oberyn? And so on.
Le- Minh How can you say that when winds of winter isnt out? For all we know he could die in the 1st chapter of the book during the same battle. The changes of his story were inevitable. He was presented as an evil guy in the series because of all that sith lord music and blood magic. Along with the lack of the book pov element his character didnt get many fans. Only the people who had read the books were able to fully apreciate him. And let's face it, It was his time. He was obsessed (at least in the series) with becoming king when the series is kind of changing its course from "game of thrones" to song of ice and fire. It is obvious that the show focuses on the north now. The Nights watch has been owning GoT for 2 seasons now
***** Oh yeah I know, Balon should have died back in season 3 if they were following continuity. Technically Joffrey won the war though if you really think about it, I just thought it was humorous to consider a character won one of the show's biggest storylines and he's only been in three episodes..
pathofoblivion I agree completely, Patrick Malahide just personifies Balon. It's a shame that if/when he comes back, it will most likely just be for his death.
Kwendtster who are you to tell people what to watch or not to watch there is no "we" so "We don't need you." does not make any sense you insignificant insect
Zoozoo Mall No I don't mean that I think Dany's in Winterfell - the Dothraki have made it pretty clear they're at the Dothraki sea. I mean was it filmed in the same place that that Winterfell scene was filmed in?
Nick Reed Then what let the Ice melt? Or coincidence? I have the feeling if they still need a sacrifice, then it might be Stannis (If Brienne spares him) :/
frankjohnson123 The Red Woman sees a vision of Bolton banners burning. She didn't see who would do it. It could be Littlefinger, or it could be a "back from the dead" Jon Snow.
***** I know that they have different paths, but supposedly the destinations in the books will be the same in the show. We can only hope and see how Season 6 will turn out as a continuation to this season ^ ^ The drawback will be another 10 months of waiting for the next season. :( It would be epic to see a dramatic Season 6 opening after that very last scene of this finale we saw.
Stannis being killed by that bodyguard, the candle being lit the moment she leaves. Marcela dying on the boat the moment after Jamie makes peace with her, 200m from the coast and they won't be coming back. The lack of character development of John when he arrived at the wall. Aria stealing a face when she could kill him anyway or by using the venum on him. Stannis killing her daughter goes against his character and relation progression with her, her mother having feelings for her daughter for the first time the moment she burns away.. Even the white hair guy and the kid that stab John seemed out of place for the progression they had in Television series.
@What ? Is she? Book Cersei is definatelly a bit of an idiot, but 2 dimensional? and well show Cersei just don't make any sense, her personality seem to fluctuate
My only problem with show Cersei is around season 7 when she is suddenly portrayed as a tactical genius, when earlier seasons had established her as a person of average intelligence who screwed things up for herself thinking she was smarter than she was.
Am I the only book reader who found the Dany vs. Kahalasar scene to be incredibly disappointing? In the books she is found WITH Drogon feasting together on burnt horse or something. I remember it being so powerful and terrifying that there was NO way the Dorthraki would have ridden circles around her dancing and shit.
***** ya I know but in the books there was a genuine fear the Dothraki had of her. They didn't dance around her like that, her and Drogon scared me shitless when I read that part.
Adam facada They aren't dancing around her, they are surrounding her to capture her. Afraid or not, if you are capturing someone, you don't show fear-you display strength.
***** you didn't read the books so it is kind of hard for me to describe but if D&D had stuck to the books for this part the scene would have been much more powerful
Adam facada I read the books and I have a hard time remembering Danny's capture the way you do. From what I can remember she left her dragon to find her way back to Mereen, same as the show.
If you cried in this episode or felt like you could smash the wall in your anger, just know - I feel you. We know your pain, this was hard for all of us, no matter if you are a fan of Stannis, Jon, Dany, Jaime. I guess that is whats so great about GoT. see you next year, everyone!
julian brown I hope this happens at like the end of season 6. When the white walkers have arrived and have already killed the night's watch (cuz fuck'em all) lol
julian brown What would the point of Melisandre coming back to the wall of been? GRRM has confirmed Howland Reed is in the next book. He is the only person alive who knows what went on at the tower of joy. So Jon dies before he knows who his true parents are? What would be the point of Howland Reed? Also Jon Snow has to die to release him from his vows. That's the point of his death. If you can't see that then...... Whatever.
I just finished watching this season for the first time, it was the best so far in my opinion, I enjoyed it very much. Now I have to wait for the German version of the season 6 DVD. That's life! :-(
Wow Game of Thrones sure loves its Shock Value i mean fucking lose a plot for Jon Snow and he was working his way up then bam dead I'm very sad and angry and shocked and disappointed :"( Fuck the Night's Watch i hope they all freeze to death when The White Walkers come :"( I want Olly dead and Allister. I can't believe Jon Snow is gone............or is he???? Think about it Melisandre did come back and is a witch so maybe they will find a way to bring Jon back but this is Game of Thrones so idk but right now he's dead and gone so R.I.P Jon Snow.
***** True i think Kit Harington is still in contract for Season 6 and 7 but not sure I'm just in Character Mourning right now What a shitty birthday gift for me :"(
0:42 Trying to justify Stannis' murder by saying "Oh, he was ready to be done." 1:16 No, she did find a monster. A monster you created. Some of you may not realize this but Stannis died in episode 9. His long built-up final assassination by D&D occurred the second he walked into Shireens tent. Then the monster, shell that you had turned him into was killed by Brienne. No, he isn't a man who is willing to sacrifice his own daughter, how could he? he was dead so how could he sacrifice her? You killed Stannis, then you used recreated monster Stannis to kill his so-called daughter. Shireen is the princess of house Baratheon and she is STANNIS' daughter not the monster YOU created. No, there is no human qualities. He didn't whimper because monsters don't have feelings. No! Brienne doesn't have every right to do it! Stop trying to justify kingslaying! Oh, yeah it was because Brienne had every right to kill the king and all, ya know. Cuz if you kill a rival in war, someone who Brienne doesn't even serve, you have the right to kill them? Stannis is doing a better job at serving Catelyn than she is. He is trying to take winterfell back in the name of the starks, while Brienne looks at a window all day. R.I.P Stannis Baratheon Book 1 to Book 5, S2 EP 1 to S5 EP 9, you will be missed.
Kit said 'I'm not in next season. I'm dead. I can't say anymore'. I'm pretty sure George has an ace up his sleeve, maybe wait for the end of next season (I'd expect Jon to be back somehow by the end of Season 7)
The people that are complaining about some events, e.g Jon's death, are the same people that want all the movies/ events to have happy endings, unicorns and rainbows. On the other hand, they are the same exact people that say: "OMG, all the movies/ TV shows are soooooo boring and predictable, the good guy always wins". You just can't make some people happy.
Massoud Babaie no. killing main characters, especially hero characters, is good maybe the first couple of times. but eventually that shit gets old. real quick. no one likes watching something when there's no one left to root for.
I do not know what reality you are considering but I can assure you reality is bitter. For example, Amir Kabir was a famous Persian/Iranian hero who very much cared for people and built unversities, sadly he got assassinated horribly by people close to him (like Jon snow). Martin Luther king got assassinated by firearm same as John F. Kennedy. Good people die in reality.
Massoud Babaie He clearly said this isn't reality, why are you giving him more reality speeches and killing of major characters does get a bit tedious, especially on a TV show, unnecessary death like Stannis and Barristan are totally destroying the old magic that Game of Thrones had.
6 deaths and 1 maybe death with Jon. No Lady Stoneheart, no Cold Hands and no Benjan, but we got to see Robert Strong overall a great finale alot of story lines following from the book Dany and Sansa/Jayne Reek and Cersie etc. Disappointed Jon didn't read the letter to the Night's Watch though and also the Mance plot twist hasn't happened. Would have made more sense to read the letter so people who haven't read the books know why the Night's Watch finally decide to turn against him. Everyone knew Ollie would deal the potential fatal blow I found that obvious throughout the season. I loved Arya's killing though was very well done and finale they have got to the point where she is blind. Finally like everyone else I am still wondering where Gendre is is he still sailing on his boat he must be in Valentis by now haha. Overall I loved this finale though it was shocking throughout and the walk of shame was done perfectly!
Melvin S7ven We didnt SEE Stannis die, though what purpose does is life now have, anyway? Maybe Brienne takes Stannis to the Wall and offers him to Melisandre (Life for Life), then he wouldnt die unworthy.
Bleh another disappointment. Awful Stannis last stand that ended with a "did he died?" scene. (He obviously doesn't). Rushed For the Watch sequence which made no sense in context to the show with no pink letter and no Wun Wun craziness (despite introducing him). The "extreme" Dorne scene ended up being surprising, but a cliffhanger and certainly not extreme. Theon was the highlight of the episode as usual. Won't even go into how silly the Tyrion stuff was, WHY IS VARYS THERE. No littlefinger (to be expected) No LS (Lollys Strokrworth should have been there) and no Yara despite claiming she would be in this season? Ugh.
XanthelinHS well dats just ur opinion lol. U guys have to stop trying to convince people wat to think. I would bet dat no matter how it ended you'll still find something to complain abt. I understand though, d year wait makes it more difficult to accept things dat do not meet our standards.
You think Stannis didnt die, now I'm a bit hopeful :) But if he didnt, they will have to explain how 4 characters that died this episode will be brought back, because Sansa and Theon did seem to die
Poor Stannis, he never really had a fair battle in the series (except against the Wildlings) - In Blackwater, Tyrion had wildfire and then the lucky timing of Tywin and the Tyrell's arriving. If Renly wasn't egocentric enough to think he could be king and had supported Stannis instead, the Tyrell's would be his side. Also (in the books), Tyrion's barbarians were apparently very effective in killing all of Stannis' scouts so he was effectively blind and didn't know about the oncoming army of Tywin Lannister. - In the North, he couldn't get any of the Northernmen to join him, couldn't get the wildlings to bend the knee, couldn't get Jon Snow to become a Stark, had to leave the Wall just as Winter comes. If he had a few months before winter, and if he could've at least gotten some of the bannermen to join him, the war would have been different. Bad guys seem to have lots of luck in battles in this series. Something unusual.
there are a couple reasons why i think stannis is alive 1-)they did not show his death, even when they killed ned stark, they showed the blood on the sword, 2)-I think that brienne of tarth is to honorable to kill a unarmed, wounded man like stannis, regardless of what he did. 3)-people are saying it is a fitting death, which it is but when has the show ever given a fitting death to anyone, joffrey was killed not by a stark but by petyr baelish and the tyrells to cement their alliance with each other. but it is just my opinion, feel free to comment.
Carlos Fermín Olly needs to die
Carlos Fermín Am I the only one who LOATHES the Sand Snakes after what they did to Myrcella too?
I was coming around to Alliser Thorne, thought he wasn't even that bad and he seems to be one of the main instigators. I hope the giant squishes them both
xlovemusic2011 Me too. Then once the giants end their pathetic lives, I hope a Then feasts on their remains.
Carlos Fermín Olly's parents died to the wildings. Jon made peace with the wildings. Olly has the most right to be mad out of all the watch. Jon will be healed by Melisandra. If not he will become like Bran and be able to become Ghost. Read the books before complaining :P
Knew it was coming, still wasn't prepared... Fuck the Night's Watch, especially for giving me hope for Benjen.
Tywin Lannister yeah that was wrong
Tywin Lannister Lol when they mentioned Benjen in the recap I honestly got excited because, why would they mention it unless he was coming back? Turns out they just needed us to remember him just to fuck with us.
Tywin Lannister I guess your time in hell made you re-think your life decisions, Tywin.
Tywin Lannister Go home, you're dead.
Tywin Lannister I was hoping against Hope that D & D would change the dynamics and let Jon escape. We All Knew it was coming, .. but didn't want to believe or even see it. M heart is so broken ... ;'-(
"Any last words?"
"You're supposed to be in the Riverlands."
"There is so much happening in this finale".
Yeah, so please stop trying to cram 10 storylines into one episode. It really takes away from it.
Beholder505 Last scene was like 2 minutes long? It happened so quickly that I almost felt like laughing. Jeesus ...
The white walkers are officially the winning party now.
***** if Jon isnt resurected i hope white whalkers win
pato yeap
pato Nah then EVERYONE would be in danger. I hope the Wildlings sack the wall though. Hopefully some Thens survived and can eat those fucking traitors.
*****
And the Boltons
Jeronimo Prudêncio No
love how Varys always just materializes outta nowhere lol with him and Tyrion on Danny's small council, plus 3 dragons..she'll will be virtually unstoppable 😊
ashli moore Why do I get the feeling that Varys arrived way earlier in Meereen than Tyrion? ;-)
ashli moore plot twist varys is only a figment of tyrion's imagination and has always been a second personality of tyrion
666melodeath666 So how could Varys be in KL while Tyrion was in the Riverlands?(Season 1).
Margaret Garside It's a joke and reference to fight club hey theres been crazier theories like varys is a mermaid or roose bolton is a skin changing vampire
666melodeath666 I thought it might be a joke. But with so many wiggy theories out there, you can never be certain!
The least D&D could of done was to show an on screen death of the Mannis, like seriously one of the most important characters in the series and he gets an off screen death?
They probably did that because he isn't actually dead.
The best part of this episode is when Theon pushed that cunt over the wall.
Greg Hufton
He's dead. You think D&D will keep him alive? They hate him.
I don't think he is dead. If he is dead, that was a weak way to take him out.
I bet he is alive! She even said the words and everything. How stupid would that be. She should have stuffed a bag with snow and put Stannis's head in it and ran off.. Well ! I guess she could trade Stannis for Sansa though, but whatever
We need an edited version of this entire season where ollie dies in the first episode and cut out of every scene after or replaced by a boy sized black bar
lol
johan Hagner i lol'd
Lol
johan Hagner premium edition
figtherthor i would almost pay for it
GRRM's wife right now is like "I told them shit bags not to fuck this up!"
Arch Angel
"Jon is his fathers son"
DERP!
0:25 "There were scenes we've anticipating for so long ."
Of course, D&D, Killing Stannis. Your sweaty fan-fantasy moment come true.
FUCK YOU, David Benioff.
Oh, by the way. Stannis's last line was sooooo [book] Stannis. Thanks for that at least.
D&D suck
Pierin24 Thats what Grrm intends so stop crying.
Mitchell Alvarez That Stannis be killed by Brienne? lol?
Jon Snow pulled a Julius Caesar, Thorne pulled a Cicero, and Ollie pulled a Brutus. lol
Darth Malak And Bronn pulled a Dornish girl.
Darth Malak the idles of winter ..lol
rht785 The Ides of June.
***** how is Jon Snow getting stabbed a Season 6 trailer?
Darth Malak Cicero? Do you mean Cassius?
One ring in the Dothraki Sea? Nice hint. They'll find her in no time.
Evija3000 LOL
Evija3000 Considering the amount of dumb deux ex machina and random encounters that happens on the tv show (see Brienne Story) it's gonna be more than enough :)
BubuSnow93 True. =P
He is the ice in A Song of Ice and Fire.
nicole farr plausible deniability
They obviously said this in order to NOT spoil the books just yet.
Justin Gentry No Jon is the Song not the Ice. Lyanna Stark is the Ice.
It's GOT dude.. "Valar morghulis".. Only the ability to survive lives like tyrion it'd not about good or evil
No I'm sorry but this bullshit Why STANNIS YOU FUCKING BUTCHERED HIM, I LIKE THE BOLTON'S BUT HE SHOULD HAVE WON !!!
Stannis is a fucking Boss In the books.
Lord Bolton True Warden Of The North I KNOW RIGHT! FUCK THESE WRITERS
Fuck them honestly
The books are all that matter now, not this filthy show.
Lord Bolton True Warden Of The North Dude, you need to do something about that bastard. He can't just waltz around and beat the Mannis!!!
Lord Bolton True Warden Of The North
Just wait for the sixth book. This show is going downhill
"She drops the ring because shes SMART" XD HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Kulascus she's so smart, that's why she go for a walk alone in the wild to find her way to Mereen
SO FUCKING SMART
Thescipyonix dude , she's alone with an injured dragon who won't obey orders...what else could she do ? wait and starve ?
Thescipyonix She didn't leave for Mereen, she went for a walk to find food and possibly some land mark to know where the fuck she is...
SomeNiceMovies How does she plan on anyone finding something so small in a place so large?
casper Who knows? Maybe Drogon will sniff it out...
Without a doubt this was the most inconsistent episode of Game of Thrones ever.
Lets just hope GRRM can release TWOW before Season 6 starts.
Lol, everyone is freaking out over Jon Snow; the red woman will obviously bring him back so chill.
Has she brought anyone back from the dead before?
cforbes54 No, but the Lord of Light has ;)
cforbes54 thoros of Myr has done it several times. they are part of the same religion
Lessquick YES! You are right I almost forgot about that, why else would Mellisandre come to the wall anyways!
cforbes54 She made a shadow baby that murdered a person.
Season 6 bring on the Greyjoys. WHAT IS DEAD MAY NEVER DIE!
03nj
oh and Theon is back bitches!
03nj Time for Sansa and Theon to kick some Frey and Bolton ass.
Tycho Nestoris
I agree and I heard Mads is already casted as Victarion
03nj lol, where did you hear THAT?
03nj House Greyjoy - We do not show!
Stannis is supposed to be this excellent military commander and he marches straight into Winterfell? W.T.F.?
Nice job D&D....pretty much telling us how Daario and Jorah will find her...
Ludo Kressh I guess stannis feels the way selyse was feeling. Everything is already lost. Nothing else to lose by marching to winterfell.
Ludo Kressh he commited suicide by going straight at winterfell that does not make sense.
rht785 Unless he is actually aware that he is commiting suicide? Which I think it's precisely the point.
He murdered his daughter, his wife killed herself, he lost half of the troops and the respect of the men who served him and his new God abandoned him after making him do all that. I mean, I'm pretty sure he knew he was going to die.
Ludo Kressh -.- He said he would either take Winterfell or die trying. Stop trying to blame D&D for your own stupidity. If you can't understand why he kept marching, then there's no hope for you.
It was pretty obvious that's why she dropped the ring
Jon is released from his vow.
My prediction :
Early in season 6, Mellisandre will bring back Jon to life. He will then ride to Winterfell with the wildings.
Jon is relieved from his vows. He gets revived by Melissandre. They then ride for asshai or Yi Ti to get light bringer .
MinecraftSik Too predictable. he will most likely be revived not by melisandre but by a "one-time magical event" in the same way that Daenery's survived the fire and hatched 3 dragons at the end of season 1.
Jean-philippe Poirier Apparently Kit has cut his hair, and they're filming season six around this time, so I'm doubtful.
Joyce Clyne It has to be Melissandre, I'd bet on it. It was too convenient that she appeared there.
Sharp Apples I didn't know that - that's great news though if it's true. Source?
Kill character in every scene + Myrcella is happy that she is effect of incest = Benioff&Weiss
xxjareexx Yaa that was fucking awkward!!!
xxjareexx finally some one who is smart why the hell anyone be happy to inbreed and bastard? unless you are Targaryen that scene was STUPID Jamie and Myrcella are Andals and worship the faith this does not make any sense.
Sophia Wilson She just loved her father
We NEED Euron, Victarion, and Aeron next season.
Drey K. And Balon......he's still alive.
***** Balon will see Silence docked, lose his shit, and Euron will dropkick him off the bridge.
Drey K.
I can't believe the show made him the last of the five kings instead of Stannis like in the books.
Yeah, Balon outlasting Stannis is quite odd. Guess the Lord of Light's power is no match for the show's scene locations, lol.
***** Do we know for sure Balon didn't die without anyone on the show knowing about it? Or know for sure that Stannis is dead for that matter.
So Stannis is dead....RIP house Baratheon. Only the bastards are left.
***** King Gendry!!
xlovemusic2011 Gendry is too busy sailing to Ulthos to bother with Westerosi shenanigans.
***** So now its basically the Lannister/Tyrells who can't even control religious nutjobs within the borders of their city and Danerys-who got kidnapped by Dothraki.
*****
... Tommen Baratheon ?
tommen baratheon is a bastard.....
Some thoughts:
Cersei's storyline coupled with masterful acting from Jonathan Price as the high sparrow consistently delivered.
AsianCommunication I agree with everything you said, BUT Sansa and Theon aren't dead.... they aimed for the bushes.
AsianCommunication i dont even have to finish reading your comment to realize you're a pissed off book reader
my name I haven't read a page of the books, sorry to disappoint.
Bran where are you? I bet all of you forgot about him LMFAO
GhostRpg We all knew Bran is not gonna be featured in this season. He'll make re-appeareance in season 6
GhostRpg i actually waiting for him. but...ah
GhostRpg Rickon where are you?
GhostRpg He will take over Drogon and fuck Remsy and the white walkers
Rebeca E M Presumably still with the Umbers, which would arguably make them the most loyal family in the North.
Theon Greyjoy is back bitches!
Evan Laeremans for exactly 30 seconds
Evan Laeremans Shame!
Evan Laeremans No... REEK !
Evan Laeremans I'm hoping that Sansa, Theon, and Brienne start taking out some good old fashioned GOT revenge on the Freys and Boltons.
Benjen stark in the previously on game of thrones.
We got trolled.
Worse then when Lena heady trolled us in season 4.
Davin Sweet Yeah that was really disappointing.
Davin Sweet What did she do that trolled us?
Altair Stark
She tweeted a picture of a heart made of stone.
Yeah...
Davin Sweet We got trolled almost as bad as Jon lol
Davin Sweet Wow... she deserved that Walk of Shame! xD
Tonight, George shall bathe in the salty tears of his fans.
Every Sunday night is bath night.
MG8256 Hell yeah, and that's the beauty of this franchise. If his bathtub stays filled purely with fan-substances, then everything is going according to plan and the franchise still owns us both in book form and TV.
MG8256 It's probably the only thing keeping that fossil alive...
MG8256 Hmm that's very poetic, well said.
MG8256 Even George is not that sadistic.
MG8256 LMAO!
Winterfell music theme is soo very much nostalgic but like the nostalgic sad that makes you feel sad like you are the one who has suffred all the sadness of the children of the forest along with all possible sadness and nostalgia of the history of the North put together in music form
I'm not dead.
Stannis The Mannis ...What a shame.
Shame.
Shame.
**rings bell**
Stannis The Mannis A king deserves a better end than dat
You are still alive in the hearts of your supporters, Your Grace. (And the books)
Stannis The Mannis Shit, I'm hoping Pod comes in and tells Brienne the candle is lit before she's strikes him.
Tywin Lannister sansa is dead so it doesn't really matter anymore :/
So much wasted potential with Stannis. #RIPTheMannis
Edit: At least they didn't kill Ser Davos off...
TheGrimHHH Stick to Breaking Bad, because you're a moron if you actually think Stannis is dead.
Jamie McGrath I'd rather wait to see, after seeing what these producers managed to do this season, I wouldn't be surprised if he is really dead.
Jamie McGrath Denial phase of grief. Still living in Clock Town I see.
***** Yes because Game of Thrones is so famous for killing major characters off screen.
D&D went on a Rampage
1- Selyse 3:48
2- Stannis 16:11
3- Myranda 18:41
4- Meryn Trant 21:15
5- A faceless dummy 24:06
6- Myrcella 29:28
7- Jon 56:30
Barber: "What type of cut you want fam?"
Cersei: "Just fuck my shit up"
I like how they fired Myrcella's previous actress because her character had "an expanded role" and she DIDN'T. DO. SHIT! -_-
Cassidy Leonards The new actress was hired because she looks pretty. But hush, don't tell anyone.
Cassidy Leonards
Yeah but none of this is her fault.
razgaros The character or the actress? I'm not putting any sort of blame on either of them. My point was and continues to be that for a supposed expand role the character did next to nothing. But she literally did nothing previously so I guess doing next to nothing is an expansion.
"There were scenes we have been anticipating for so long." Yeah Stannis's death. D&D should have cast themselves as the two Bolton soldiers that attacked Stannis before Brienne found him. What a colossal wreck of writing that we witnessed with how Stannis's story went these last two episodes.
Walder Frey survived another season...
Long may he reign!
Just let that sink in
Greyvenlol And so did the Boltons ...
rkrokbergWalder Frey is cool.
Greyvenlol you don't mess around with Walder Frey!
Three questions:
1) Why did Alliser Thorne let Jon and the wildlings through the gate? His betrayal makes no sense at all.
2) How the hell are Daario and Jorah supposed to find Dany? She flew away on a dragon, she could be anywhere. Don't tell me they're going to find that ring, the chances of that are astronomical.
3) Am I supposed to believe that Sansa and Theon survived that jump? Are you telling me that the snow somehow broke their fall?
Pulsar77
1: Because he wanted to seem, he is loyal to the Lord Commander.
Orshabaal 1) Everybody will know he betrayed Jon, and now he'll have to deal with a pissed-off army of wildlings, including a friggin giant.
2) I asked how they are SUPPPOSED to find her. She could've flown to the other side of the world for all they know. Staying in Meereen would be more sensible, because the chance of her coming back is far greater than the chance of finding her;
1: No, no one will know surely.
2) I'm only seeing parallels with Pippin dropping the fellowship break which Aragorn finds, Daario = Aragorn :O
3) 6ft of snow, they're gunna hope it snowed that morning for fresh snow rather than iced over snow.
And where the hell is Bran Stark?
TWEEETYist Fucking the childof the forest.
TWEEETYist I think season 4 caught up with his storyline
Cornelis Mollberger - All of them are now caught up to their storylines now. Bran actually has a bit more they could've done, but they'll probably put it in season 6. Since the actor is coming back.
I liked his story and he had pretty cool power, i hope he will return in next season, now he is the oldest Stark.I was hoping that some of Stark family at some point would be reunited and now most of them are dead.
Maximus Brutus hahah poor Sam
The only halfway decent part of the episode was the walk of shame
Johnnyank pervert.
wtf gross
Guys, guys. Beric Dondarrion has been resuscitated 6 FUCKING TIMES. Don't worry. Melisandre will do her duty.
Carlos Fermín R+L=J fingers still crossed.
Carlos Fermín Melisandre doesn't have the power to bring people back. Only Thoros knows how to do that.
Carlos Fermín "We must offer a sacrifice to the Lord of Light to bring back Azor Ahai. Bring forth Olly."
"But Lady Melisandre, he has no king's blood!"
"He is the sacrifice for the viewers at home **wink wink**"
Ah, if only...
***** Pretty sure she's realized that Stannis isn't Azhor Azhai or whatever anyways and that Snowboy's the real deal. She probably rushed back to the Wall asap
“I pray for a glimpse of Azor Ahai, and R'hllor shows me only Snow.
Hey tommy
Jon's death, one of GoT most tragic deaths.... until season 6 casting leaks and photos reveal Kit back on set.
There is someone who keeps winning the game...
I felt every stab in this episode, every death. When the season was finished I was surprised not to find any blood on me, because I swear it hurt so much to see these characters die.
Stannis isn't dead jus sayin. When game of thrones has a death they show you that death in gory detail they didn't because he doesn't die.
Geek Emporium I don't think he's dead either. I guess we'll find out next April.
Geek Emporium they didnt do that for ned stark
sikms But we saw his head falling off and his body dragged away. That's enough.
sikms We saw the head
Geek Emporium Does this mean Serio Forel might still be alive?
Am I the only one who thinks it would have been way cooler if at the last second jon's eyes turned white and he warged into ghost?
Furys Shot That's what I thought was going to happen. The most likely thing to happen.
esham blazer I know, maybe because I knew the stabbing was coming him getting stabbed to make me feel anything plus you would end the season on a higher note
Furys Shot Because that might well be just fan theory? All the warging thing. Anyways, I have strong hope that Mellisandre will resurrect him next season. Finger crossed
Furys Shot I saw that leaked pic too.
i was expecting that to happen but then the show ended instead and i was like fuck
Well, I've watched GoT long enough to end up cheering for the White Walkers. lol!
not really an old saying since it's from the dark knight
aboud hajhassan
This exact phrase yeah, but the idea is not new. The original saying went like "He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you", but that's a mouthful.
Tulip Star Nietzsche
Still rooting for them white walkers?
Im from the future and im here to tell you that the knight king and all his armies died by the blade of Arya Stark.
I love how George R.R Martin, take influences from history, that Jon Snow shanking scene was straight out of the Shanking of Caeser and that last "Ollie" moment totally an "Et tu Brute?" from Shakespeare.
A man can't wait a whole year to find out what happen. A man need season 6 right away, the Red God demands it
thank you for making this 10 minutes long ;D
Gendry m8 where u at
Hannah O'Reilly if he doesn't return, i'll cry.
Hannah O'Reilly hes still rowing
666melodeath666 he's probably drowned
Legends say hes still out there in the seas
When tommen dies and now stannis is dead, the true air to the throne is gendry.
And that music when he died...
It was Ned all over again ;(
Stannis said "do your duty" .. She remembered her duty is to save Sansa, killing Stannis is personal. Stannis is very much alive.
Zoozoo Mall i totally agree with you
Zoozoo Mall I really think he's dead, and HBO didn't show us only to make us wonder and come up precisely with these theories that you've came with haha. However, I do hope you're right sir!
You expect them to tell us" hey guys he's alive"? No, he is alive but they have to say that he's dead
stannis is gone, Check Liam cunningham's recent interview where he states he will miss working with the actor.
You fucking shit writers, you butchered the finale like no other, no storng excuse for Jon's stabbing, no letter, no nothing.
George P lady in red might save him...i think
izzie833 Yeah lets hope so! Just gotta wait 1 more year...
izzie833 Thats obvious. The problem is the scene was poorly done. It was kinda shit honestly.
XanthelinHS I thought it was awesome...How would you have done it?...lol
George P no strong excuse? they've been telegraphing the excuse since episode 7
(I believe they even mentioned this in the first season)
Sure you could say, the lost of his family made this patient genius rash.
(Around +3,000 men to what he had after he left the wall)
And inside Winterfell, we know Stannis has allies such as House Manderly who fed the Bolton Bannerman a feast of Frey Pies, and A particular group of Wildlings.
Bobs Black
In a single day,(10 minutes screentime) he looses his daughter, his wife, and half of his army (and lets not forget, from 20 good men and a super villains who moonwalks skirtless and without a scratch after every battle0),he battles a battle we dont see and dies from Brienne, who just walks near him, just like with Sandor.Lets say that they dont hate the character and they dont overrated Daenerys.
REBORN AS AZOR AHAI BY MELISANDRE!!
FalcaoXTZ But Melisandre is a useless bitch
pato Tell that to Renly.
pato She's not useless she's just terrible at reading visions.
pato Shireen had no legit king's blood, so Melissandre realized Stannis wasn't a safe bet.
FalcaoXTZ yep yep yep, I refuse to believe otherwise!
The death of Jon Snow kind of reminded me of the Assassination of Julius Ceaser. Both were betrayed by the people they trusted, and they were stabbed.
The look on Stannis' face when Brienne shows up is as if to say "who wrote this shite?"
And so concludes season five of Amateur Writing Hour, with Benioff and Weiss.
I could not be more disappointed with how you have handled these wonderful books.
I definitly want to cry all the time I seen Jon's death .
Here's my theory... spoilers if I'm right:
Kit Harrington has said he's not returning to the series.
AWS Vids Meh still wont be the same without kit harrington playing john though.
Wait, that was the big battle of Winterfell ?
Yep they crammed it into about 5 minutes and kill Stannis off because D&D hate him
Jean-philippe Poirier Almost as anticlimatic, rushed and unmemorable as Jon's death
rkrokberg the battle happened completely off page in le book. we only find out about it cuz ramsey sent a letter to jon snow
Sorry for the long post, but i needed to get this out
Tywin Stark let me see you right a book. You don't know what bad writing is. Stick with Walking Dead now that's bad writing.
"She has every right to do what she's about to do"
No, she hasn't.
If you had any idea about medieval judge customs, you'd know that Brienne had no right to play judge
In addition to that, "do your duty" were shtannis' "last words" (which is a northern custom and brienne is a stormlander, another piece of bullshit on which the writers spent no thought on), he said it after brienne judged him guilty, which means that he did NOT give her permission
research your bullshit first, before you talk shit
Bobs Black she swore an oath to protect Renly with her life. If you pay very close attention, you might notice that Renly is dead and she's not.
She swore that she would avenge Renly to Catelyn, who has no real power and does not have the ability to grant her the right to play judge.
Whether Shtannis is welcoming his death or not doesn't matter, because the law is the law (which makes Shtannis an even worse character when you compare him to the Stannimal)
In retrospect, the Shtanns-plotline was great, except the last two episodes, which completely 180'ed his character
I won't drop down to your niveau and end this here, have a pleasant day
How many characters died just this episode? Damn...
Stannis's storyline, like Stannis' actions- were all for nothing. what a waste of time and audience investment.
we followed this guy around the world and back again, thru battles just for a inglorious and insignificant death, plus his whole murdering of his daughter thing. Why bother keeping him alive at the blackwater at all!?!?!?! these producers need to understand we as audience member don't want to follow all these threads for no reason, we want to be satisfied it was worth the journey. they really fucked up several storylines this year- as soon as they swayed from the source text but hey- it proves the notion-
"if you could write like GRR Martin, you'd be GRR Martin."
or rather:
"if you could have written Game of Thrones- you'd have written Game of Thrones...."
heres hoping they leave it to the professional next year.
Le- Minh It was not for nothing.
1. Brienne of Tarth got her revenge
2. We get to know Melissandre and her religion because of it. (The red god vs the great other behind the wall)
3. He made a huge sacrifice with His daughter, which results are yet unknown (only death can pay for live)
4. without him, Melissandre would not have met Jon Snow.
The Nights watch has been owning GoT for 2 seasons now
Why is nobody congratulating Balon Greyjoy on his victory of the War of the Five Kings?
Tyler The Rigby Because it's a lie! Stannis was the winner in the books.
***** Oh yeah I know, Balon should have died back in season 3 if they were following continuity. Technically Joffrey won the war though if you really think about it, I just thought it was humorous to consider a character won one of the show's biggest storylines and he's only been in three episodes..
Tyler The Rigby I hope Balon comes back into the show, they picked a great actor to play him and he's barley been used.
pathofoblivion I agree completely, Patrick Malahide just personifies Balon. It's a shame that if/when he comes back, it will most likely just be for his death.
@@tylerrigby6060 you were right ser
Well, that sucked. Boring and rushed. Oh, and if Stannis is dead I'm now with the Others and/or the Greyjoys.
If I do watch season 6 then I'm siding with Littlefinger
Jacob Hutton I hope you don't watch season 6. We don't need you.
Kwendtster your an the kind of idiot who probably likes Daenerys because she has dragons and though this was a pretty good season
Jacob Hutton
Haha nice try. Seriously, don't watch season 6. You're done with this series.
Kwendtster who are you to tell people what to watch or not to watch
there is no "we" so "We don't need you." does not make any sense you insignificant insect
Is the place where they filmed the scene with Dany the same place where Ned executed that guy in s1 ep1?
***** No...winterfell is covered with snow now.
Zoozoo Mall No I don't mean that I think Dany's in Winterfell - the Dothraki have made it pretty clear they're at the Dothraki sea. I mean was it filmed in the same place that that Winterfell scene was filmed in?
*****
Ya may be....It looks similer.
***** I understand what you mean, and it really looked like the same spot to me.
***** looks pretty similar to me, wouldn't put it past them
"There were scenes we've been anticipating for so long"
You mean finally killing Stannis?
What luck, Stannis performs the only act of blood magic in the entire series that didn't work. What the fuck, D&D?
frankjohnson123 Shireens sacrifice will be used on Jon. "Only death can pay for life."
Nick Reed Then what let the Ice melt? Or coincidence? I have the feeling if they still need a sacrifice, then it might be Stannis (If Brienne spares him) :/
frankjohnson123 all mel said was she saw herself walking the balltements and the bolton flags being lowered she never said when or with who
frankjohnson123 The Red Woman sees a vision of Bolton banners burning. She didn't see who would do it. It could be Littlefinger, or it could be a "back from the dead" Jon Snow.
frankjohnson123 Actually Mirri Maz Duur in Season One did blood magic with Dany
Bad writing ! I rolled my eyes so many times..
***** Naw.
Lexyvil This season takes very few from the books and it shows.. It only gets worst from here :(
***** I know that they have different paths, but supposedly the destinations in the books will be the same in the show. We can only hope and see how Season 6 will turn out as a continuation to this season ^ ^
The drawback will be another 10 months of waiting for the next season. :(
It would be epic to see a dramatic Season 6 opening after that very last scene of this finale we saw.
I don't think D&D understand the characters that they have adapted/created...
now more than ever
Yeah they never did, not for nothing books fan have been calling Cersei Carol for years in the show, she's just not Cersei, and that's just an example
@What ? Is she? Book Cersei is definatelly a bit of an idiot, but 2 dimensional? and well show Cersei just don't make any sense, her personality seem to fluctuate
Olivia Williams As a normal human being?
My only problem with show Cersei is around season 7 when she is suddenly portrayed as a tactical genius, when earlier seasons had established her as a person of average intelligence who screwed things up for herself thinking she was smarter than she was.
The funny thing is that all the people complaining about the show swill be back in April 2016 to do it all over again.
xtrey19x lol
Yeah...no
The books are better at this point and george isnt the best writier but hes a hell of a lot better than d&d
louis romero i can assure u d show will still break records next year too
Am I the only book reader who found the Dany vs. Kahalasar scene to be incredibly disappointing? In the books she is found WITH Drogon feasting together on burnt horse or something. I remember it being so powerful and terrifying that there was NO way the Dorthraki would have ridden circles around her dancing and shit.
Adam facada In the books she gets captured by Dothraki too. Heck someone told me this would happen before Season 5 even started.
White walkers coming to the wall doesn't sound so bad anymore.
If you cried in this episode or felt like you could smash the wall in your anger, just know - I feel you. We know your pain, this was hard for all of us, no matter if you are a fan of Stannis, Jon, Dany, Jaime. I guess that is whats so great about GoT.
see you next year, everyone!
John Snow will be resurrected into Azor Ahai watch this be true
julian brown I hope this happens at like the end of season 6. When the white walkers have arrived and have already killed the night's watch (cuz fuck'em all) lol
TheJR7360 I hope it happens in the beginning I don't want an ENTIRE season without John Snow.
julian brown you see now we have no idea what'll happen because I think this is where book 5 ends
julian brown At this point, I just hope it happens in the books.
julian brown What would the point of Melisandre coming back to the wall of been? GRRM has confirmed Howland Reed is in the next book. He is the only person alive who knows what went on at the tower of joy. So Jon dies before he knows who his true parents are? What would be the point of Howland Reed? Also Jon Snow has to die to release him from his vows. That's the point of his death. If you can't see that then...... Whatever.
I just finished watching this season for the first time, it was the best so far in my opinion, I enjoyed it very much. Now I have to wait for the German version of the season 6 DVD. That's life! :-(
R.IP Jon Snow, favorite character of the show is now gone :'(
Wow Game of Thrones sure loves its Shock Value i mean fucking lose a plot for Jon Snow and he was working his way up then bam dead
I'm very sad and angry and shocked and disappointed :"(
Fuck the Night's Watch i hope they all freeze to death when The White Walkers come :"( I want Olly dead and Allister. I can't believe Jon Snow is gone............or is he????
Think about it Melisandre did come back and is a witch so maybe they will find a way to bring Jon back but this is Game of Thrones so idk but right now he's dead and gone so R.I.P Jon Snow.
***** True i think Kit Harington is still in contract for Season 6 and 7 but not sure
I'm just in Character Mourning right now
What a shitty birthday gift for me :"(
***** thank you so much :D and I've been watching OITNB since the beginning and not finished with Season 3 yet
Tici Toty Tony happy birthday! the Night's Watch send their regards!
chuhrros THANK YOU :D
Tici Toty Tony when you are mourning over a fictional character it shows how good a show it is...
0:42 Trying to justify Stannis' murder by saying "Oh, he was ready to be done."
1:16 No, she did find a monster.
When Gendry said that he'd never been in a rowboat, I never thought he'd be such a poor seafarer.
By God! He rowed through the whole damn season!
Dinglie Danglie Doodle you mean for 3 seasons!
Sounds like David is about to cry at the end over Jons death... So am I.
Kit said 'I'm not in next season. I'm dead. I can't say anymore'. I'm pretty sure George has an ace up his sleeve, maybe wait for the end of next season (I'd expect Jon to be back somehow by the end of Season 7)
The battle of Winterfell felt a bit rushed, but I understands the reason for it. Possibly the best episode of the entire series!
Killing characters, main or not is what makes it closer to reality. But then again, you always can stop watching the show.
Massoud Babaie except this isn't reality it's a god damn fantasy and killing every character is bad storytelling
Massoud Babaie He clearly said this isn't reality, why are you giving him more reality speeches and killing of major characters does get a bit tedious, especially on a TV show, unnecessary death like Stannis and Barristan are totally destroying the old magic that Game of Thrones had.
incredible acting for arya. so talented
Melvin S7ven "overall a great finale."
HAHAHAH
No Penny
Melvin S7ven First time in a long while, I see no love for Tyrion (and Varys). Everyone is on either Stannis, Myrcella, or Jon.
Lessquick Maybe but I think he is dead
Ugh.
XanthelinHS Oh also Arya's scene ended up being good.
XanthelinHS I understand ur frustration, but crying won't help lol. Another year to wait
Strong Black Woman Not crying. Just commenting that the episode was bad, I wanted it to be good trust me. Most of it was poorly done.
XanthelinHS well dats just ur opinion lol. U guys have to stop trying to convince people wat to think. I would bet dat no matter how it ended you'll still find something to complain abt. I understand though, d year wait makes it more difficult to accept things dat do not meet our standards.
You think Stannis didnt die, now I'm a bit hopeful :)
But if he didnt, they will have to explain how 4 characters that died this episode will be brought back, because Sansa and Theon did seem to die
Poor Stannis, he never really had a fair battle in the series (except against the Wildlings)
- In Blackwater, Tyrion had wildfire and then the lucky timing of Tywin and the Tyrell's arriving.
For the night is dark and full of cliffhangers
Awaiting Sandor Clegane to show up in season 6
In this episode Dumb & Dumber demonstrates that Ser Alliser Thorne is yet another one of the many characters they don't understand.
there are a couple reasons why i think stannis is alive
1-)they did not show his death, even when they killed ned stark, they showed the blood on the sword,
2)-I think that brienne of tarth is to honorable to kill a unarmed, wounded man like stannis, regardless of what he did.
3)-people are saying it is a fitting death, which it is but when has the show ever given a fitting death to anyone, joffrey was killed not by a stark but by petyr baelish and the tyrells to cement their alliance with each other.
but it is just my opinion, feel free to comment.
