Honestky one of the best parts about Joffreys character was that he was so cruel but at the same time being such a snivveling little coward of a child. He couldnt tske beibg even slapped without whimpering. Ramsey Bolton was also a completely sadistic psychopath but was atleast a man about it and could take a beating.
When it comes down to it, Tyrion did his absolute best to be a realistic and positive influence on Joffrey, and as time went on you could tell he was growing distraught how Joffrey wasn’t only continuing to be vicious but was becoming a Vicious Idiot
@Bendover-r8xIt was the best attempt he had and it could have proved effective, but it wasn’t good because Joffrey was never going to listen to him. There was likely no one to get through to him, once Cersei influenced him. Even Cersei herself couldn’t fix the damage she had done! 😅 Perhaps Joffrey being inbred was the ultimate cause for his foul nature!
Hey, mad king aerys. I have a question. Do you think joffrey 'should've died during childbirth' "baratheon" had the potential to become just as mad, if not more mad than you?
Just dawned on me that when Tyrion realized a riot was brewing, he immediately took measures to ensure tommens safety, purposefully doing nothing for cersei and joffrey in hopes they could get killed. That's planning.
I highly doubt Tyrion planned for that. He never wanted Cersei dead, not even in the end. And despite how evil Joffrey was, Tyrion still tried desperately to save that fool from himself.
He couldn't stand Cersei or Joffrey, but he still considered them family and was loyal to them. He never plotted to kill them. Only to contain their madness and foolishness
Yeah, that's the first thing I noticed too when I reviewed this scene closely. It is evident that Tyrion cares more about the life of his youngest nephew than that of his sister and her insane "child king". Here Tyrion proves more cunning and calculating than I expected.
He can't command Joffrey or Cersei, even for their own safety. But he can do it for Tommen, and ensure his safety, so even if the king would be killed, there's a clear successor.
I think it’s more that he knew he couldn’t stop Joffrey from insisting on keeping going, so he protected who he could. Remember, he was there too. If Joffrey died, he’d probably be dead as well.
The fact that Tyrion wakes up in the Starks’ barn implies that he stumbled out there the night before (likely drunkenly) and, in his stupor, wanted to be with the animals. It’s very sweet actually, and does a great job of alluding to how he must feel about the rest of his family when barnyard animals are a more preferable company.
Mans deserves more praise for ostensibly being staffed as Joffrey's bodyguard but still having the sensibility to not step in when he knows the little snot gets what he deserves
I'm sure it helped that Joffrey apparently has a negative charisma score, and Meryn must be the most idiotic useless failure of a man to ever be knighted.
Lancel, too. He had made a little splash shortly before this exchange when Sansa was being humiliated by Joffre while he was pointing his crossbow at her. 😂

He’s like this because Cersei spoiled him rotten and made him believe he can do whatever he wants. He needed more guidance and occasionally an ass whooping.
I don't think so. Joffery had sociopathic tendencies even when he was little. He killed a pregnant cat. Unfortunately, that child was beyond saving and should have not been made king at all.

Ironically Tyrion was the best parental figure Joffrey had.
I bet if he raised him he wouldn't be nearly as bad as he is.
He has a soft spot for bastards cripples and other broken things . And no one was more broken than joff
Yet, he treated him like crap. Joffrey never learns.
